CHAPTER THIRTY

“Mykan… wake up!”

I recognized those voices, the ones who spoke to me in the duel.

I opened my eyes and saw two people in front of me. The young man looked at me and said… “I am very proud of you… Son!”

“Son?” I said… then suddenly it clicked into place. “Mother?… Dad?” I asked.

The young woman nodded, “Yes dear… We are your parents!”

This was… incredible. These were my parents. The very people who gave me life and left me with my father's deck.

I wanted to reach right up and hug them both… But as was expected, they were only Holographic-images produced by the mind of my heart.

They couldn't even touch me!

“Son… do you know why you were able to defeat the evil in King-Monroe?” asked my Dad.

I shook my head.

“Because… you are indeed, the true duelist.” answered my Mom. “Only those who duel for what is right, and who know when the right time comes… only then can one be truly called a True-Duelist.”

My Father Nodded in agreement. “The Millennium-Item you wear around your neck is from Princess Sabrina.” He said.

“You kept it… not for it's power… not to help you in selfish times… but you kept it as a symbol of love.”

I held the Necklace with both hands. “Yes… I do love Sabrina.” I said. “I have gone to battle all in my way to be with her again… and I'd do again.”

Dad smiled at me. “As long as you keep believing in yourself, in your friends, and in heart of the cards… there is nothing you cannot do.”

“We are love you… Son!” said mom, “The Millennium items cannot bring us back from the dead, but we will always be there for you.”

“Both in heart and in sprit!” said Dad, “Now son… we must go… but live long and peaceful.”

Tears streamed down my face as their spirits glowed and they transported into the Millennium Necklace.

“Mother… Father… Thank you!” I thought… then everything went white.

AFTER WHITE FLASH

Clover's watch read 12:00 am… Sabrina's 18th birthday, and my 19th.

The Shadow-Realm darkness had disappeared. “Hey look girls!” said Sam. “Something's there in the smoke… it looks like.”

I stood up, turned around… and gave them the thumbs up sign.

“MYKAN!!!” they all cried.

Sabrina ran into my arms and I twirled her around.

“Oh Mykan…” cried Clover. “You did it… you really did it… You finally Actually did it!”

Sam butted in front of her. “What Clover means is… we're glad that you won the duel.”

“Yeah and- -”

Alex butted in this time, “And were glad that you and Sabrina can finally be together.”

Clover was going to go nuts. “You guys… You're stealing everything I want to say!” she whined.

“Well what are you waiting for, Clover… just say them already.” I joked.

Clover changed her looks, “Ah… forget it.” She giggled, “That's not important… but, You won… MYKAN WON!!!”

“HORRAY!!!” we all cheered an cheered… it was finally over. Well… most of it at least.

We walked over to where the Good King-Monroe sat. “Are you all right Sire?” I asked.

“Yeah… I'm alright now.” the king said in a rather sad tone. “I can't believe I was set up like that.”

Sabrina bent down to help her father up. “Well Daddy… looks like we owe a great deal to Mykan.” She said.

Monroe knew she was right. “But Mykan… I have to know… Why did you save me?” he asked, “I haven't really been that nice to you over the years.”

I stepped forward a bit and knew exactly what to say. “Because… You are important to me.”

The King's eyes widened. “What… I… I am?” he asked sounding a little confused.

“Yes… Sabrina loves and respects you. You're part of the family.” I said. “I want us to get to know each other better so we can get along and spend time together.”

“You'll give me a chance to know what it's like to experience the joys that I never had… Parental watching.”

“You… mean that?” asked the King.

I nodded my head. “I may not know… too many things about family business and all that stuff…”

“…but I am a very good Teacher of the game and it's history, and I am a very good duelist.”

“The most important thing is though… I love Sabrina with all my heart and soul, and to me, she's something that money cannot buy, and no card or Millennium item is worth.”

Sabrina let out a tiny sob and rubbed the tears from her eyes.

The Girls had tears in their eyes too. “Wow… that is so beautiful.” Said Alex.

“I know.” Sobbed Clover, “He's speaking from… from.”

“From his heart!” cried Sam.

I folded my hands and bowed to the King. “I may be young… but I will love and cherish your daughter for the rest of my life.”

“And I hope to be a good husband, and a loving father someday… but only if someone very special is there to teach me how.”

“I want you… King Monroe… to be my father-in-law.”

Sabrina walked over to me, put a comforting hand on my back and bowed to her father.

“This is the man I want as my husband, Daddy.” She said. “He can make all my dreams come true.”

King Monroe didn't respond, and just sat there with a sad look on his face… “What choice have I got?” he thought.

Later on

We left King Monroe to search for himself, and we were all sitting down near the shore.

“So… what are you two going to do now?” asked Alex.

Sabrina and I both looked at each other. “To be honest… we don't know.” I said.

“We can't tell if Mykan earned my dad's respect.” Said Sabrina, “Even if we do decided to get married… we just can't do it without my dad there.”

The girls didn't like where this was going. “So… that's it?” asked Clover, “You're just giving up?”

“Oh, No, no.” I said, “We still plan to marry.”

“We just don't' know when that will be.” Added Sabrina.

“How about right here… and right now?” came the voice of her father.

We all looked up and then behind us to see King Monroe dress up in his best robes.

In the huge courtyard behind him… everything was set up.

A long red Carpet leading all the way to a white arch covered in flowers all over.

Every single duelist on the island, even the six gatekeepers was there dressed in fancy outfits.

About seven tables on one side were packed with food and a huge white cake from on end to the other.

All that was missing was the bride and groom, which Monroe took care of.

He clapped his hands… and four servants came and took Sabrina and I behind two separate fold out change curtains.

When they were removed, I was all well groomed, cleaned, and wearing an outfit exactly like Neo the Magic Swordsman.

Armor… Cape… and all.

And Sabrina was wearing an exact same Wedding gown as Alex's made her Maiden in love wear with Happy-Marriage equipped.

Gown… Crown… Veil… even bouquet!

King Monroe even had more servants attend to the girls, so when they came out… they were dressed as Brides-mates.

“King Monroe? Does this mean…?” I asked.

“Daddy…really?” asked Sabrina.

The King smiled and walked forward. “Well it is Midnight on your birthday sweetheart.” He said.

“I said I could marry to you to whomever I chose… and I guess the Number One Duelist in the world is good enough for me.”

My eyes widened. “Greatest duelist… King Monroe?” I asked.

“Of course.” He said. “And with a little training… you'll make a fine Son-in-law Mykan.”

He stuck out his hand… “Put her there… Son!” he said. “And one other thing… it's Dad.”

I gracefully shook hands with the possibly of the nicest men I had ever met before.

The girl's eye flooded with tears. “That means… they're going to get married after all.” Cried Alex.

“Ooh… I am so happy for them both.” Sobbed Clover.

“Me too.” Added Sam.

Sabrina threw her arms around the King, letting her tears of happiness fall onto his robes. “Oh Daddy… thank you.” She cried.

King Monroe hugged his daughter back. “Happy Birthday!” he cried. “Just look at you! My little angel-cake is growing up.”

“I love you, Daddy.”

It wasn't long before Fireworks lit the sky, Champaign bottles spouting… Rose pedals dancing in the Spring-breeze… as I held Sabrina in my arms and twirled her merrily around.

At long last… after all these years of hard work… She was finally my wife! The girls couldn't have been happier for me.
