Trial By Cards

Hello all of my friends and welcome to the 6th chapter of Trial By Cards. Irina's first duel and she duels Mai Valentine. This story is most likely the most twisty story I've ever written. At this point you've only seen glimpses of Keora's past, well today you will learn more. I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh so please don't sue. ( If you do I'll sick my muses on you.)

Chapter 6: Past, Present, and Future

"Hey kid, you wanna duel?" asked Mai. That's how Irina's day had opened. Of all things to be challenged to a duel when you had just woken up. The yami's, Cynara, and Ryou had now become permanent members of the team. Of all things Irina has said yes to the duel and now was in a duel stadium way over her head.

" Well Irina you sure have gotten yourself in over your head," thought Irina to herself. Irina was down to 1000 life points while Mai had 1600. Irina's Magician of Faith had been able to bring back Irina's Red Eye's and had taken out 400 of Mai's life points. But Mai's Harpy Ladies were decimating all of her forces. Of course there was one secret card that Irina and Keora were sharing.

" Come on Irina, why don't you just give in," said Mai. " It's obvious that you're just a scared little girl who has stumbled into the big leagues," said Mai. Irina had her head down tears streaming down her face.

" I gotta help Keora get Mokuba back," thought Irina and looked to Keora and the others for support. Keora smiled and nodded.

" Come on Irina we believe in you," said Keora and the others nodded.

" Mai, don't be mislead by my tears," hissed Irina. She looked up at the older girl a smirk plastered on her face. " I know this is going to sound corny, but at this moment I feel stronger then I have ever felt. Know why?" asked Irina a look of triumph on her face.

" I don't's want to be preached to. I want to duel," said Mai.

" I feel strong because I have my friends at my side even when I'm dueling," said Irina and looked at the card in her hand. " Oh and because this move will finish it," said Irina.

" I may be scared, but my dragon isn't," said Irina. " Blue Eyes," said Irina as the Blue Eyes appeared.

" But Kaiba's the only person with that card," said Mai.

" Wrong," said Irina. " White Thunder," said Irina. The dragon fired and knocked out all of the Harpy's. " There's something else you may want to know," said Irina. " I use my heart and head to duel. Not petty tricks," said Irina. Mai stalked away wondering what the girl meant. She remembered that Joey punk saying something like that to her and shrugged. She slowly turned around and looked at the group.

" I swear Irina, one of these days," said Mai. Irina smirked and crossed her arms.

" Sure, I'll duel you anytime and anyplace," said Irina. Keora smiled at her friend who now had 4 star chips. Mai still had two so Keora smiled to herself in contentment.

" Hopefully she learned something from that duel," said Keora. Yama, Zenda, and Amara nodded their heads in agreement. Cynara and Ryou just stood and smiled, happy they weren't losing the other duelist in the group. Keora smiled remembering her first duel with Irina.

Flashback

" Irina you really need to learn how to use a strategy," said Keora as she beat her friend. Irina sighed and looked at Keora.

" Well it's not like I've been playing this game since I was 8," said Irina. Keora nodded, the other girl had just started two weeks ago and had asked Keora to be her personal trainer. That was less then three months before Duelist Kingdom. At least she had studied and learned.

" You need to learn which cards should be used when," said Keora. " Like your Red Eyes, the only time you need to use it is when a strong monster like a Harpy Lady is on the field," said Keora. Irina had nodded pretending that she understood, but it had taken two more weeks to finally get the idea thru her thick skull.

End Flashback

" Earth to Keo, come in Keo," said Ray as she waved her hand in front of Keora's face.

" Sorry, guess I zoned out," said Keora.

" What were you thinking about?" asked Irina.

" Our first duel and how long it took to teach you how to keep that Red Eyes in reserve," said Keora. Irina laughed at that remark and then smiled.

" Well it's not my fault. I was new," said Irina.

" You're still a novice compared to Keora," said Ryou. Zenda smiled at the others and then looked at Keora.

" No wonder you can control the Light Magician's powers," said Zenda.

" I know, it's strange how I just found the diamond sitting in a box in the attic when I was four," said Keora.

" It's no coincidence. You were destined to receive it," said Yama. Amara looked at Cynara and smiled slightly.

" Yes, all three of you Kaiba sisters were destined," said Amara.

" That's why there were 5 Blue Eyes and now there are 4," said Yama. Keora nodded slowly and smiled.

" Well whatever happens we need to stick together," said Keora.

Flashback

" Little girl do you want to come with us?" asked a kindly lady. Keora looked at her silently and shook her 6 year old head.

" Not without Mazara," said Keora. The lady looked from Keora to Mazara. She could tell that they weren't sisters, but they were really close.

" Why don't you just leave her and come with us," said the lady. Keora shook her head and took out a card shaped locket.

" I promised Mazara that we'd be together forever," said Keora and the lady walked out. Mazara looked at her sister.

" Keora, why you no go with them? You would have had home, everything you always dream of," said Mazara in broken English. Keora and Mazara spoke Japanese and English. Their first adoptive parents had been American so they lived in America for four years, but Mazara spoke more Japanese and Keora spoke more English for some reason.

" Cause, I love you Mazara. I can't just leave you here," said Keora in perfect English and hugged her sister.

" You the best," said Mazara. Keora blushed and then smiled.

" One day Mazara we'll get out of here," said Keora. She had also kept that promise because when she turned 10 the people at the orphanage had told her that she was Seto Kaiba's sister and that she could live in one of the small Kaiba Corp. buildings. She did just that and took Mazara with her.

End Flashback

" Keora what's wrong?" asked Mazara as she looked at her sister who had two tears in her eyes. Mazara now spoke perfect English, because Keora and her spent a lot of time in America. Suddenly Keora hugged Mazara and whispered in her ear.

" Mazara I've kept all my promises so far and now I am making another one. We will save Mokuba," whispered Keora. Cynara looked at her twin and little sister and smiled. She walked over and put her hands on their shoulders.

" We'll all get Mokuba," said Cynara loud enough for everyone to hear. They all nodded and turned to look at the castle.

" If it's the last thing I do," said Keora. Ryou looked at her and smiled.

" No if it's the last thing we do," said Ryou. Keora nodded, looked at him, and sighed. " What's wrong?" asked Ryou. Keora looked at him and the tips of her mouth curled in a slight frown.

" It won't be that easy," said Keora. Suddenly Ryou hugged her and whispered in her ear.

" If it's the last thing WE do," whispered Ryou and Keora blushed a deep crimson. He smiled and kissed her quickly. The others all gasped at the sudden show of affection and then Mazara, Cynara and their yami's started to sing.

" Keora and Ryou sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G," they sang. Yama and Ryou looked about ready to kill them when suddenly Keora's wings popped out and she held her Light Magician like staff.

" If I count to ten and you four haven't stopped Ray, Irina, Yama, Bakura, and I will leave you four here," said Keora. That shut them up quick and they started to walk again. Ryou and Keora leading while Yama attempted to discipline the other two yami's. She was trying to discipline Amara who was older then her and Zenda who was younger and the two weren't happy. Mazara and Cynara were watching their yami's and laughing their heads off at the same time. Irina and Ray just watched the whole group a look of confusion plastered on each of their faces,

So how do you like it? Well next chapter will be up as soon as I can get it up. ( Ryou and Kanji muses: Which is soon considering she's on another revision binge. Shaina: Well it was just my birthday and I sort of have a goal of getting this all up on MM.org before the anniversary on FF.net. Keora: In other words send her an email, do anything and everything to get her moving. Shaina: Next chapter is like one of my favorites. Keora: Yeah torturing Ryou and me and adding another character. Shaina: OK time for stats on the yami's.)

Facts: Yama was once the queen of Egypt and a magician. Locking herself inside a diamond like item and locking some other people away with her Yama is a very powerful women with the power to back up her threats. Known for her magician cards and her mind manipulation powers she is strong. Her weakness? Yami or course and her hikari.

Name: Cynara

Age: 16 ( she's called Yama's twin because they are less then a year apart.)

Item: Millennia/Exodia Staff

Fav. Card: Fallen Magician of Light

Fav. Male Yami: Marik (she ends up with Malik)

B-day: January 9th

Facts: Yama's older sister and a guardian Amara was locked away in the staff. She was with Marik in ancient Egypt, but in B.C. Marik is taken, but she falls for Malik. A powerful young woman Amara's powers are hard to beat. With the double bladed power of the Staff Amara can easily cut two people at once.

Name: Zenda

Age: 13-14

Item: Exodia/Millennia Cross

Fav. Card: Elfin Girl

Fav. Male yami: none

B-day: January 2nd

Facts: Not much is known of Zenda's past except that she was Yami's evil twins slave. Other then that her past is very foggy. A quiet guarded girl by nature she was perfect for one of Yama's healers and the girl saved Zenda. It was soon discovered that Zenda had a talent for healing and when Yama sealed everyone away she made the Cross special. Tho the others were to lay dormant for the next 5 millennia Zenda was able to use the cross to see what was happening. Unknown to people the Cross lay hidden in the armrest of Yama's throne until the day Mazara bought the throne. When she found the cross she put it on and that's how Zenda came to be. Never mentioned in the book is one of Zenda's most extraordinary powers at least not directly. Zenda has the power to change animal into human and vice versa. Maybe you'll be able to figure out who she used this power on in later chapters if you read between the lines.
