-Wake Me In the Never-
Bakura, with sleep deprived eyes, stumbled through a darkened room. Fluffy covers lie on the floor like tons of dead bunnies. Not that he would kill a bunny, they were too soft and they also reminded him of someone he dare not speak his name. Bakura struggled to find a light switch but instead found himself needing an ice pack as he ran right into a nearby table. Where was he you ask? Why in Malik’s cramped little apartment of course! Why he was there?
“The hell if I’ll tell you,” Bakura remarked, sitting on the floor and rubbing the sore spot on his leg. A click was heard and then a blinding light caused Bakura to fall entirely to the floor and shield his eyes from the murderous beam.
“Bakura who, or what, the hell are you talking to?” Malik sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He blinked, unsure why he didn’t receive a response. “Bakura?” Malik leaned toward the edge of the bed.
“Hmm… Maybe I am crazy?” Malik shook his head and shut off the light. He grabbed the covers, encircled them around himself and fell onto the disarray of pillows. Before shutting his eyes completely Malik could’ve sworn he saw something; however, he dismissed it as nothing and buried his head deeper into the blankets. A cool sensation made its way across the back of his neck and to his ear and then a pierce, like a needle, underneath his ear and to his neck once again. Malik furrowed his brows and tried to flick it, what ever it is, away with a twist of his head. The feeling stopped, but a disturbing presence lingered. Then a dark, menacing voice echoed throughout the room.
“I’m going to kill you.”
It sounded far yet ever so close, like near Malik’s ear. The boy moved his legs closer to his body and attempted to hide his head yet never opening his eyes to find out what was really there. The menacing voice laughed, only this time Malik could feel the ‘thing’ right next to him.
“I’m going to kill you.” The voice reiterated and this time Malik shot up, eyes wide, and panting. Bakura fell backwards, off the bed and into a pile of strewn about comforters. The Sennen Rod had landed only inches away from Bakura’s head.
“Oh! It’s only you Bakura,” Malik said, holding his hand to his chest, “You scared the hell out of me.” A slight pause showing Malik was thinking. “Well, good night!” Malik shut off the light again and snuggled into the covers.
Bakura was not amused.
“Ra! Damn it! I will kill you!” Bakura lunged at Malik as he jumped up and ran around the room.
Meanwhile, outside the room, disapproving shouts could be heard from the neighbors next door, above, and underneath. Shouts about saying it was too early for the two teen’s shenanigans and such. However, both boys couldn’t hear a word of it, for both were too caught up in catching and killing the other or running for their life. So, the only person who could hear and answer the call was…
“Mrs. Ishtar, if you would please inform your brother and his boy friend to stop disrupting the peace of the tenements-” Ishizu shut the door in the owners face. She had a horrible night to begin with, not counting the horrible weekend. Bakura had been over for three nights already! Ishizu couldn’t stand the odd giggling of her brother and his friend inside Malik’s dark room. She REALLY didn’t want to know what they were doing in there. And, this was the last straw.
Bakura looked over from strangling Malik to Ishizu standing in the door way with a water hose and Malik’s helmet on.
“Hi, nee-san,” Malik choked out and waved.
“Both of you. You’re slumber party is over. I’m tired of sleeping on my bedroom floor because you both stole all the blankets, pillows, and mattresses in the house! I’m tired of odd giggling in the middle of the night and I’m tired of hearing ‘Nee-san! Buy us Ice cream!’ or ‘Nee-san! Tell Malik to shut the hell up!’” Ishizu glared at Bakura. “And I’m not your nee-san!”
“Eh, like I’d ever want you for a sister,” Bakura mumbled, setting Malik back onto the ground. Ishizu growled and turned the hose on the two boys.
“Ah! I’m getting wet!” Malik yelled out running out his room with Bakura in tow. Ishizu chased the two into the bathroom and turned the hose off. Bakura and Malik were in a tangle of legs, arms, and soaking wet pajamas. Ishizu smiled at her success and stood with her hands on her hips.
“Now, I’m going to make breakfast. Both of you will clean the house in its entirety and get ready for school.” She looked to Bakura, “I’m sure Ryou would love to have his body back as well.”
Ishizu turned, grabbed the silver bathroom door knob, and slammed the door shut.
****************
Malik watched as a light and fluffy cheese omelet was slid onto an empty plate by a black plastic spatula. His eyes danced as sunshine colored orange juice filled an empty crystal glass to the brim. He drooled as four toasted brown pancakes were drowned in glistening heated honey. The food begged for him to touch them, to eat them, pet them, and cuddle them.
Ishizu smacked him on the head with the spatula.
“Stop staring at my food already. It’s disturbing.” Ishizu picked up the orange juice and gulped a large amount down.
“Why can’t I have any?!” Malik sniffled as his sister wolfed down the pancakes right before him.
“Because you eat breakfast at school,” Ishizu paused and looked around, “Hey! Where’s Bakura?”
“He said he could clean up the place on his own.” Malik reached out his hand to make a grab for the omelet but Ishizu was ready for him once again.
/*yawn* Eh? Where are we? Bakura? / Ryou spoke, shaking his head to clear away a cloud of fuzziness that surrounded him.
//Malik’s apartment.// Bakura said rather casually. Ryou’s transparent form was in shock. He didn’t know what to think. How long were they there? He wondered. What could’ve happened?! Ryou knew his Hikari and Malik were some kind of item of some sort. What it really was, he did not know. But here he was, in Malik’s apartment, waking up from whatever he was in when he clearly remembered he was on his way from school on Friday and then nothing!
//Oh, stop worrying Ryou. Nothing happened-// A shriek made Bakura double over in pain. //Ow!! What the hell was that!?// He turned to Ryou who was staring wide eyed and who obviously didn’t hear a single word that he said.
/Bakura! How can I trust you if you keep taking over my body with no permission? I thought I made a deal with you? You’re my yami and I’m your Hikari! / Ryou was fed up with this. It had been two months since Bakura came back and every so often he’d wake up with no knowledge of what his yami could’ve done or had done. Tears of frustration gathered in the corners of his eyes. Ryou was angry and everyone could tell.
//Ryou now’s not the time to discuss this. You have to get to school soon. It’s Monday and-// Bakura was caught off as Ryou took control of his own body again and ran to the front door. Malik was there strapping his shoes on.
“Eh? Oh, hey Ryou.” Malik casually waved and continued his task.
“Malik, please, hurry. I have to get to school.” Ryou hopped from foot to foot anxiously but suddenly lost his balance and fell into Ishizu.
“Watch it Ba- Oh, hey Ryou.” Her scowl had softened but became hard once again as she stared at Malik. “I’m going to see if Bakura actually cleaned up the place. Wait here.” Ishizu demanded before walking off again.
“Hmm… Did Bakura really clean up the place?” Malik inquired, picking up his conveniently placed backpack.
“C-clean?” Ryou stared in disbelief, pulling his shoes on and grabbing his backpack as well.
“Yeah, ask him. What does he say?” Malik opened the obviously fake wooden door with a squeak. He waited patiently for a response.
//Um… You better run.//Came Bakura’s voice before retreating into the darkest corners of Ryou’s mind. A loud crash emanated from the farthest bedroom, or more precise, Ishizu’s bedroom. The two boys stared in wonder as a shadow loomed toward them.
“Kisama!” Ishizu growled out between clenched teeth also clutching a long red wood staff for battle. Malik’s eye twitched and he whimpered at the sight of his devilish looking sister.
“Bakura… How dare you flood my room.” Ryou could’ve sworn Ishizu’s eyes turned red. “For that you will pay!”
Malik grabbed Ryou by the arm and bolted out the door.
“Um… Bye nee-chan!” Malik jumped onto his bike while avoiding the barrage of random assortments. Ryou climbed onto the back of the bike, wrapping his arms around Malik’s waist as the platinum haired teen revved up the engine and went zooming onto the road. The white haired teen looked up as a black cat came screeching down upon them and Ishizu’s last words drifting off into the wind, “You’ll pay!!”
*Sing song voice.* Redone. Redone. This will be finished and it will be fun. ^_^ Ja!
