Chapter 14: The beginning of the end

Malik and Yugi were back against the far wall with an unconscious Ryou watching Bakura, Yami and Marik fight. Yami was fighting Tristan, Marik had taken Tea and Bakura was trying to land just one punch on Pegasus.

Seto and Joey stayed out of their way and made sure that the three little vampires stayed where they were. The last thing they needed was for the little vampires to get in the way and get hurt.

"You bastard! You will pay for what you did to Ryou and Yugi!" Bakura yelled at the vampire king. Pegasus just smirked and dodged another one of his punches.

"You are highly amusing Bakura. But you must realize nothing can beat me. I have lived far to long to let a measly human kill me." Pegasus said and smiled again. While Pegasus wasn't paying attention Bakura punched him as hard as he could in the face sending him flying back into the wall.

"What were you saying about a measly human beating you?" Bakura smirked.

Yami smiled over at Bakura before turning back to Tristan who was pinned up against the wall by Yami.

"Now, why did you join Pegasus?! Or was that just a lie about how much you hate vampires?" Yami snapped.

"It wasn't a lie. I hate vampires more then any thing on this earth. But when you guys decided to keep that brat down stairs, I had to get rid of him." Tristan glared back at Yami and struggled to get free even though he knew it was unless. Yami was always much stronger then he was.

"So you took him to the cabin and tried to burn him to death!? I never knew you could be so heartless Tristan. Did you even know what Ryou wanted?"

"Why should I care what a vampire wanted?" Tristan snapped back.

"The only think Ryou ever wanted was to be human again. He never asked, nor wanted, to be a vampire." Yami said and felt Tristan stop struggling for a moment. But Yami didn't let his grip up, he had seen Tristan pull this on many vampires before. Wait until your appoint trusts you and lest you go before you attack and kill them. So Yami played along and let his grip up just enough so that Tristan could try his little trick.

"Did it ever accrue to you idiots that he might be lying? I haven't met a single vampire who hasn't like to me." Tristan said and with a violent shove he pushed Yami back and pulled out a dagger and was about to stab him. But Yami was quicker pulling out his own dagger and stabbing Tristan in the stomach. Yami watched Tristan fall to the floor.

"How did I…always know…that if I ever…died…it wouldn't b-be a vam-pire that ki-lled me? I-I always…knew it…it would be…you…" Tristan said as his eyes went dull and his body slumped lifeless on the floor. Yami sighed and looked over to where Marik was fighting Tea, or should I say killing Tea.

Marik kept charging her and punching hitting or cutting her. She had not been able to get a single hit on Marik at all. She was starting to get frustrated and let out a shirk as she charged Marik. Marik dodged her attack and smirked at her.

"Really, is that all you have? I would think Pegasus would keep stronger vampires around." Marik chuckled. He watched at Tea stood back up and took a fighting pose and started chanting something Marik couldn't understand.

"No!" Marik heard Yugi call and try to run over to where Marik was but Seto stopped him. "No! You have to let me go! Marik! You have to kill her before she finishes the spell!!!!!" Yugi yelled and struggled as much as he could to get away from Seto. Marik looked confused and was about to charge.

"Wait!" Yugi called again, he had to get free from Seto so he could help Marik. Tea always had a shield up when using her spells because they always took so long to finish.

"Marik throw something at her to make her loose her concentration!" Yugi said. Marik nodded and looked around for something, he saw Bakura's crossbow sitting on the floor. Marik picked it up and fired at her. Tea screamed and fell back onto the floor still chanting. But her shield was down. So Marik took another spike and loaded the crossbow and fired at her again. The spick went right through her chest. Tea let out a shriek of pain before turning to dust. Seto put Yugi down once he stopped struggling. Marik smiled at Yugi.

"Thanks for the help."

Every one's head snapped over to look at the last two fighting when they heard a loud crash. Bakura had been thrown into a small table breaking it in half. Pegasus smirked as he stood over him.

"That was for punching me." Pegasus said and went to punch Bakura in the face, but Bakura moved out of the way before Pegasus could hit him. Bakura rolled out of the way as Pegasus started shooting fireballs at him. Pegasus stopped once Bakura got up next to Yami. Marik walked over and helped his friend stand up. All three hunters glared at Pegasus.

"I don't see why you three are so mad at me. I have not done any thing to you." Pegasus said his eyes looked over to where Malik and Ryou stood up against the wall. And Yugi stood with Seto and Joey.

"The only ones I have hurt are my Yugi and Ryou. And I only gave Malik the gift he wanted." Pegasus said and smirked when he saw Malik's eyes go wide. "That's right Malik, I'm the one who created you. Tea was the one who created Yugi. And Atsu, whom you killed before I showed up, created Ryou. And you all belong to me."

"Over our dead bodies!" Yami snapped, Pegasus turned back to the three hunters standing there.

"And what are three little humans going to do about it? I have lived far longer then the three of you put together have, there is nothing you can do to stop me. I will have what is mine."

Yami, Bakura and Marik looked at each other and nodded. There was only one thing that could stop Pegasus. A spell they had learned before becoming hunters. It was called the spell of destruction and they had vowed never to use it until it was absolutely necessary. The three of them closed their eyes and started chanting quietly.

Pegasus looked at them in confusion. Just what were these humans trying to do? Pegasus listened more closely to what they were chanting and his eyes went wide. That spell, it sounded familiar. Pegasus's eyes went wide when he recognized the spell. He thought that no one knew that spell anymore!

"No be silent!" Pegasus yelled at them. But the three of them kept chanting. Pegasus held his head and screamed in pain. Yami, Bakura and Marik continued to chant louder. In a flash of light Pegasus was gone. The there of them slowly stopped chanting and opened their eyes. Pegasus was gone, and every one was staring at them in shock at what they had just done.

"He's gone?" Yugi whispered not believing his eyes. "He's really gone?" Yami looked over at him and nodded.

"Yes little one, he is really gone. And he won't be coming back." Yami said. Yugi smiled and ran over to him giving Yami a big hug.

"Thank you so much Yami!" Yugi said. Bakura and Marik walked over to their look-a-likes. Ryou was still unconscious and this worried Bakura. From the looks of things Ryou had lost a lot of blood, if he were still a vampire it would be easy to get it back, but from what Malik had said Ryou was now human.

Ryou groaned and slowly opened his eyes to look at Bakura.

"B-Bakura…" Ryou shivered. Bakura took Ryou from Malik and held him close. "I-I'm s-so cold…" Ryou snuggled closer to Bakura trying to get warm. Bakura stood up and walked over to the bed grabbing an extra blanket off the bed and wrapping Ryou in it.

"We should get out of here, it won't be long before the other vampires in this pace realize what is going on." Seto said. The others nodded and they went out the back door the way that Joey, Seto and Yugi had come.

They brought Ryou to the hospital as fast as they could. They were in the waiting room for three hours before the doctor came out and said that Ryou was going to be just fine.

"Can we see him?" Malik asked. The doctor nodded.

"But only one of you. He still needs his rest, the rest of you will have to comeback tomorrow during visiting hours." They all nodded.

"Bakura, I think you should go in." Yugi said. Bakura looked at him with wide eyes.

"Are you sure? You and Malik have known Ryou longer. Don't you think he would want to see one of you instead?"

"That is true Bakura." Malik smiled. "But over the past couple days Ryou has taking a liking to you. And I think he would like to see you."

"If you are sure."

"We are, besides. Me and Yugi need to eat something." Malik said. Bakura nodded and followed the doctor to Ryou's room. Ryou was sitting up in the bed looking around confused and looking a little scared.

"Bakura!" Ryou said when he saw the hunter walk in. Ryou would have gotten out of bed but the doctor made him lie back down.

"You still need to rest young man." The doctor said sternly. Ryou tried to glare at him but it looked more like a pout.

"I'm a lot older then you are I bet." Ryou laughed when the doctor made a face.

"Yes I'm sure you are, now just stay lying down and rest. I brought you a visitor and the others will be by tomorrow to see you." Ryou nodded and waited until the doctor was out of the room again before he sat up. Bakura shook his head and sat in the chair next to the bed.

"Didn't he just tell you to lay down and rest?"

"Yes he did, but I can't."

"Ryou you lost a lot of blood back there. And after what Pegasus and that other vampire did to you…" Ryou looked away from Bakura not wanting to think about that.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring that up. I am just worried about you?" Bakura said and moved off the chair sitting on the bed and pulled Ryou close. Ryou snuggled closer to him and they stayed like that for a while.

"Bakura, could you do me a favor?" Ryou said breaking the silence.

"Sure, what do you want?"

"Could you stay up with me so I can watch the sunrise?" Ryou asked. Bakura was surprised Ryou had asked him that. It was going to be Ryou's first sunrise in over a hundred years.

"Sure thing Ryou. Why don't you try and get some rest now, and I will wake you up before the sun rises." Bakura said and kissed Ryou's cheek. Ryou nodded and lay his head on Bakura's shoulder. Bakura started singing softly until Ryou fell asleep.

Out side the hospital Malik and Yugi had just finished feeding. Joey was leaning on Seto trying to stay up strait.

"I'm sorry. We didn't take to much did we?" Yugi asked looking worried. Joey shook his head and smiled.

"No, I'll be fine after I get some sleep." Joey reassured him.

"I think we should get going." Malik said and Yugi nodded. They started to walk out of the ally when Seto stopped them.

"I think you two should stay with us for a while. We don't really know how long it will take for you two to become human and if any vampire saw us leaving the castle you two would be in trouble by your selves." Seto pointed out. Malik thought about this for a moment before nodding.

"I guess your right…" Yugi said and let out a yawn.

"Lets go get the others and get back to the house." Seto said and walked Joey to the car while Yugi and Malik when to get Yami and Marik.

Seto waiting in the car with Joey in the back seat. The blond hunter had fallen asleep a couple minutes after getting in the car. Seto looked at the door when Yami and the others came out and got in the car.

"Lets get home. We'll come back tomorrow to pick up Ryou and Bakura." Yami said as he got in the front with Seto. Marik sat in the back with Malik on his lap and Yugi sat in the middle. The car ride wasn't that long but both vampires were fast asleep by the time they got there.

Seto got out and opened the back door and picked up Joey. Yami picked up Yugi while Marik took Malik and they all went inside. Marik and Yami put the little vampires in the guest room and closed the door. And went down into the living room. Seto was already sitting in the living room.

"So what are we going to do with them?" Seto asked looking at Yami.

"The vampires?"

"There not vampires any more Yami. But they're not human either."

"What are you talking about?" Marik asked as he sat down in the chair."

"Joey told me that when a vampire gets turned back into a human, they are no longer human, or vampire. They are something in between."

"I guess that makes sense…" Yami said and leaned back against the couch. "I mean once someone dies you can't really bring them back to life. And vampires are dead."

"They can't stay here." Seto said. Yami and Marik looked at him confused.

"And why can't they stay here?" Marik glared at him.

"We attracted enough trouble as it is, if we take in two-"

"Three." Yami corrected him. "Don't forget about Ryou."

"Fine, if we take in three former vampires who were just there while you Marik and Bakura just killed the king of vampires, don't you think they would be in trouble if they stayed here?"

"Yes, but how much trouble would they be if we just left them out there? Like you said, they are, for the most part, human now. Witch means they have to eat normal food now." Yami said. "We have enough room in the house Seto. They can stay, and they would be safer here. And besides, I don't think we will have to worry about to many vampires for a little while. It is going to be crazy for them with out their king." Yami pointed out and Marik nodded his agreement.

Marik yawned and stood up.

"Well, I am going to bed. I am sure Bakura will want to be picked up early with Ryou tomorrow." Yami nodded and followed him up stairs going to his own room.

Seto sighed and stayed down stairs thinking for a few minutes.

"They might be right about Pegasus being gone. But I still get the feeling he isn't dead…there wasn't even a pile of dust left when they were done with the spell." Seto thought out loud. He shrugged it off and went up stairs to get some sleep.

Bakura looked out the window and smiled the sun was going to be coming up soon. But Bakura didn't want to wake Ryou; he looked so peaceful when he was asleep. But Bakura had said he would wake Ryou up. He leaned down and kissed Ryou's cheek.

"Time to wake up little one." Bakura whispered. Ryou groaned and turned over on his side away from Bakura. Bakura smiled and rolled Ryou back over. "Come one tenshi, you don't want to miss the sunrise do you?" Bakura asked. Ryou slowly cracked open an eye and smiled at him.

"I knew that would wake you up." Bakura smiled. Ryou yawned and rubbed his eyes as he sat up. Bakura stood up from the bed and picked up a blanket wrapping it around Ryou he picked the smaller one up.

"Wha-what are you doing Bakura?" Ryou asked as Bakura head towards the door.

"I know a really good place to watch the sunrise from." Bakura said. Ryou smiled and lay his head on Bakura's shoulder as the hunter took him up to the roof. Bakura set Ryou down and sat next to him as they watched the sunrise. The stars were still out, and they could see the night sky above them filled with the stars. And as they looked to the east they could see the sun rising. The sky looked like it was on fire, half of the sky the sun was shining with dawn's first light, and the other half was still full of stars.

Bakura smiled and looked over at Ryou who was watching all this with tears falling down his face.

"Ryou, why are you crying?" Bakura asked. Ryou quickly whipped away his tears.

"I'm sorry, it's just I had forgotten how beautiful a sunrise could be…" Ryou said as more tears fell from his eyes. Bakura smiled and kissed them away.

"Just think Ryou, you will be able to see many more sunrises, and sunsets from now on." Bakura said and kissed Ryou's cheek and they watched the rest of the sunrise.

Across town, Yami, Yugi, Malik and Marik were watching the same sunrise. Yugi was curled up on Yami's lap and was drifting back to sleep. Malik had his head on Marik's shoulder and was also looking very tired.

"It is good, to be able to do this again." Malik said.

"You said it." Yugi agreed. "I have missed being human." Yugi said and shivered. "But I didn't miss the cold." He said and curled up closer to Yami who held him and looked at Marik who smiled. They had told the two that they could stay with them as long as they want.

"It's good to be home." Yugi said and drifted off to sleep. Malik nodded his agreement also falling back asleep.

It wasn't long after that that Seto pulled up in the car and Bakura and Ryou got out. Ryou looked up at the house and smiled.

"I'm home."

YAY!!! I FINISHED A FIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumps up and down* don't worry there will be a sequel! About how the three of them deal with their new life as humans! I don't know how long it will take to get the sequel started because I still have fics I need to finish before I start any new ones. But keep you eye out for it! Ja ne!
