Chapter Two: Sightseeing around Sydney

Buka's POV

I sighed as I rubbed sleep out of my eyes. Today we were all going sightseeing around Sydney, as a treat. The duels would begin on Saturday, and today was Tuesday… so we had a few days to enjoy the place where we were staying.

As we were staying in a hotel right near the place called Darling Harbour, that's where we all decided to go first. Since Casey was the most local champion, the rest of us unanimously voted that she should show us around. We would live to regret that decision…

"So… where do we go next?" she asked us - all she got in response were a few glares. "Come off it! That was nothing!"

"No'ting?" repeated Kyani.

"Nothing," she grinned. "So… how about we head to the Tower?"

When we reached the `Tower'…

"Oh, come on! If we're going to see all of Sydney that's worth seeing, we have to go to the top of Centre Point Tower!" Casey was trying to persuade Seto and Malik (who had arrived just the day before) that it was a good idea to go up there. Both of the guys were afraid of heights, however.

"No. No. No, no and NO!" That was Malik, of course. The great Seto Kaiba would never give in to an outburst of annoyance as Malik has.

Tamera, Terrence, Sami, Rebecca, Yami, Joey and myself had all already paid for our tickets to go up. Tamera and Terrence decided to jump on the elevator while there was room, and told us they'd meet us up there.

I bounced Hana on my hip while waiting impatiently for the silly dragon boy and the rod-carrier. She giggled and cooed, reaching for just about anything that passed us.

Casey sighed. "Fine, stay here. Just don't expect me to come and find you when you get lost." Now, Malik hated heights, true - but he hated being lost even more. Immediately he got into the line for tickets. Seto soon followed, albeit slowly. Grinning, Casey came behind them.

Joey's POV

"Fine, stay here. Just don't expect me to come and find you when you get lost," Casey sighed. Seto and Malik both got into the line for tickets immediately. What? The dragon boy doesn't wanna be lost?

"Dwagon boy doesn't like being wost now, does he?" I grinned, putting on a fake baby accent. Kaiba just glared at me. "What? No quick response? Why Kaiba, I'm crushed!"

"You will be when I'm through with you, mutt," Kaiba commented casually.

At the top of the `Tower'…

"Look at the view!" I said, awed as I approached the floor-to-ceiling window that ran all the way around the viewing platform.

Kyani came up behind me. "'S lovely…" she murmured. Tamera agreed with her.

Casey grinned, and went off to the café on the other side to get a drink. Whoa. I mean, whoa. This is so cool! I thought. Tripping over the step as I moved closer to the window, I mouthed `ow' as my nose felt like it was smashed into my skull.

"Did the little puppy huwt himself?" came a voice from behind me. Instantly, I knew it was Kaiba.

"Shuddup, Kaiba."

"Why should I?"

"Joey! Seto!" Casey called, having returned from her venture to the other side. "Don't start a fight up here! It would not look good for the company that's paying for us to be here!"

"Someone's paying for us to be here?" asked Terrence, slightly interested.

"Yes. Our accommodation, travel, and some meals are paid for by a company who's sponsoring us," she replied.

"And who is that company?" asked Rebecca.

"I'm not sure… I just know that they're sponsoring us," Casey repeated.

"Right. Now, let's enjoy the view!" I exclaimed, before tripping over yet again, forgetting about the step. Everyone laughed, and Yami helped me up.

Kyani's POV

I edged a little closer to the window, getting as close as was possible without leaning on the glass. There was much to watch.

"Hey look! There's a guy who looks kinda like Pegasus!" exclaimed Tamera.

"Ya!" I laughed. "Silver hair an' everyt'ing!" Yami (the guy with the mad hairstyle) moved towards the window, Hana (Buka's little girl) swaying slightly on his shoulders.

"Yami, be careful!" called Buka from the souvenir landing.

"Don't worry, koibito!" he called back.

"I never do," she grinned.

"Sure, sure."

"What? I don't!" Buka exclaimed, coming to stand beside Yami.

"Right. Whatever you want to think, koi," he laughed, and wrapped his arm around her, Hana giggling away.

Hana, who's name means `flower' (Ma would be proud o' me, learning new languages), was about eleven months old. She was just starting to speak, the clever little thing. She had been trying out new words for a short time now.

"Pha -" she started to say, then broke off into a giggle fit. She tried again: "Phawa -"… but no, that didn't work either. Buka and Yami had, by now, stopped arguing and began to listen intently to Hana.

"Phawoah!" she exclaimed, pointing downwards to Yami. Buka cheered.

"That's right, Hana! Pharaoh!" she laughed.

"Her first word was Pharaoh, that's quite something," Seto smiled coldly. I'll bet his child's first words'll be `Blue Eyes', or something like that, I thought.

"Phawoah, phawoah, phawoah!" chanted Hana, singing merrily. Yami laughed along with Buka and I. Hana was so cute when she was awake!

Sami's POV

Watching Buka, Yami and Hana brought back some memories from my home. I had left a little sister just like Hana behind with my mother and father when I travelled here to Australia. She would be about Hana's age. Her name was Kali, named for my grandmother.

I smiled, and looked back out the window. That guy, the one who looked like Pegasus… he looked and acted extremely like the painter-CEO of Industrial Illusions. But everyone knew he was in a facility for the mentally unstable, ever since that golden eye thingy of his was stolen.

Maybe he had been released and not told anyone? But I doubt it. Suddenly Casey called for everyone to come. It was time to go back to Darling Harbour for dinner.

Back at Darling Harbour…

"So, what does everyone want to eat?" Casey asked. There were various answers. "Food court it is, then." She led us through automatic glass doors, past an ice-cream parlour, and into the food court. Instantly we split up, each heading to a different place.

I went to McDonalds. OK, so I'm African, Kenyan to be exact. Occasionally I like the westernized foods - it's interesting. Ordering myself a large cheeseburger meal with lemonade instead of coke, I took the chance to look around.

I'm 17, which makes me the oldest here apart from Malik. Speaking of which, Malik was ordering from KFC, right next door to me. I grinned, and kept looking. Buka and Hana were over at the sushi place - comforts from home. Yami was brave, and at the kebab shop. He looked apprehensive, almost as though he already knew he wasn't going to like it. Terrence was laughing and pushing him towards the counter to get his order.

Seto and Tamera were both behind me, here at Maccas (as the Australians around here call it). Terrence still was undecided, wandering around. Now… where were Kyani and Joey? The rest of the backups and friends of us duellists were either back at the hotel or at the Aquarium across the Harbour.

Ah! There they were! Joey was getting an ice-cream… for dinner? Oh well, maybe he'd already eaten. I wouldn't put it past him. Kyani and Rebecca (who I had forgotten… oops, better not tell her that) were coming back inside from a café near the food court. They had fish and chips… and they'd saved us seats outside. Thank goodness they did, it was getting a little crowded in here.

I got my dinner, and made my way to the three long tables they had pulled together. Plonking myself down in a seat, I grinned at Terrence.

Terrence's POV

I grinned as I followed Yami to our table. He was looking at the kebab with this really weird look in his eye, like he was almost scared of trying it. He sat down on one side of the table, next to Buka who had gotten her sushi. I sat on the other side, soon to be joined by Sami, who grinned at me.

I grinned back, and tucked in to my kebab. For the next few moments, all I could think about was how yummy it was.

"Nice?" asked a feminine voice behind me. I jumped, and nearly fell off my chair. Tamera laughed, and slid into the seat on the other side of me. She opened her brown paper bag, and pulled out a Big Mac.

"Do you know how unhealthy those are?" I asked instead of answering what I considered was a stupid question.

"No, and I couldn't really care less. It's food, and that's all I'm concerned about."

"Fair enough," I agreed, and got up from my seat. I went back to the kebab shop, and got another one.

"You're as bad as Joey," commented Yami, looking up from his.

"No-one is as bad as Joey."

"What was that about me?" asked the duellist himself, carrying a humungo Danish chocolate ice-cream. It had to be at least five scoops.

"Nothing. Yami, point proven. I am nowhere near as bad as Joey."

"I noticed," he said dryly, eyeing Joey's ice-cream. "Are you going to have something normal?" he asked.

"Nope, this'll do."

Rebecca's POV

I just sat and watched the other duellists converse among themselves while easting my fish and chips. They were quite yummy. I no longer carried around my teddy, preferring to leave him in the hotel room - I was also tall enough now to look Yami instead of Yugi in the eye. Which was a relief, no offence to Yugi.

I hate being short.

"Are you going to eat that?" Joey asked me after I pushed away the last of my fish. I shook my head, and shoved it over to him. "Thanks."

"Anytime."

Kaiba was suddenly in the seat next to me. "Must you sit there?" I asked.

"Nowhere else," he commented before digging in to his mcnuggets meal. There were 24 nuggets! I bet he won't be able to finish them.

A few minutes later…

"I can't believe you ate them all, Kaiba," whimpered Joey.

"Like I was going to let your grubby paws get all over food I paid for, mutt!"

"And why not?"

"Because I paid for it!"

"Oh, right," Joey grinned. "Like I'd want to eat something you'd touched anyway!"

"You seemed quite willing a minute ago!"

"Well, that was a minute ago, wasn't it!?"

"I suppose so. Your mind isn't big enough to support a decision for more than thirty seconds."

"Oi! That's offensive!"

"No," said Seto sarcastically. The rest of us were just watching this exchange, sharing around the popcorn Kyani had bought. As good as a movie, I thought. It was easy to tell that everyone else agreed.

Soon enough, though, it was time to head back to the hotel. We said goodnight to the Harbour, and headed up to our rooms. I turned on the TV after getting changed, and frowned. There was nothing on! Sami entered the room, and grabbed his clothes. He was my roommate - and very quiet. I don't think I'd heard him say more than five words. `Hello' `goodbye, mother' `Casey!' and `why?' was just about all he had said.

Oh well.

He came back in and fell onto his bed, closing his eyes immediately. I can understand the urge to go right to sleep - the beds were really comfortable, for hotel beds. I fell asleep as well after a little while.

"Sleep well, dream sweet dreams, little duellists. Tomorrow is another day."
