Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ You! Off My Planet! ❯ Chapter One ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh…but I sure wish that I did…^_^
Sharem: After this first chapter, I'm going to stop writing any author's notes, like this one, in the beginning of the chapter. If something is seen in the beginning, it's because it's important…^_^
You! Off My Planet!
Chapter One
It was just a little less than two weeks to go before the fall semester and Joey was a little nervous. Not because he was starting his third year in college, but because he was going to be living somewhere other than the place he used to call home. Sure, he was used to the yelling and other crap that went on whenever his father was drunk, but at least it was a constant; he knew how to deal with it. However, becoming roommates with someone that was a total stranger to him was an unknown and he never dealt with the unknown too often.
While he stayed with his friend Yugi, the blonde went out and got a job at a courier service. It was decent pay and it would allow him to work around his class schedule. He knew that he would need the money to help pay his share of the rent and utilities. He was also grateful that the student loan he had applied for came through. That meant he did not have to rely on his deadbeat father anymore for anything.
Joey took in a deep breath as he got out of his beat-up car and looked at the apartment building. It was a decent looking place and it did have its own parking garage. But since he wasn't entirely sure if he really was going to stay in this place, he decided to park his car in the guest lot. He shook his head clear of unwanted thoughts as he made his way to the glass double doors and glanced around the nice looking lobby area. There were mailboxes on his left, the door to the building manager's apartment on the right and a set of elevators directly in front. There were a couple of benches and nice comfy looking lounging chairs in the lobby along with some potted plants.
"Boy, the lobby is nicer than Dad's house," the blonde remarked to himself as he wandered around. He glanced at the clock that was above the elevators and saw that the time now read 2:59 pm. He sighed in relief because he thought he was going to be late. He didn't wake up until 2:30 and had to rush to get to this place on time. He just hoped that whoever this Seto Kaiba was would understand why he looked like he was dragged through the bushes. He let out a breath as he turned his back towards the elevator doors and ran a hand through his messy blonde hair.
Seto Kaiba growled to himself when he stepped out of the apartment, which he furnished just the day before, and made his way to the elevators. It was almost three in the afternoon and he had told Wheeler to be in the lobby at three. He just hoped that this person was at least punctual and maybe well-groomed. He just couldn't take it if his roommate was going to be a slob. At least he did set up a few rules that should make it easy for him to live with this stranger. As soon as the elevator he was in finally stopped at the lobby, his cobalt blue eyes widened at the person he saw in front of him.
The young man had his back to him and his clothing appeared to have been put on without a thought and quite carelessly. The jeans were wrinkled and had holes in the knees while the shoelaces on the man's sneakers were loose and dragged onto the floor. This guy's blonde hair was quite messy as well.
`Dear lord…I really hope that he isn't Joey Wheeler,' Seto thought to himself as he cleared his throat to get the blonde's attention. "Are you…Joey Wheeler?" the CEO asked tentatively, really hoping that the young man in front of him was not Wheeler.
Joey turned around when he heard someone clearing a throat. His honeyed eyes went wide at the tall young man standing behind him. He was wearing a dark blue trenchcoat, black slacks and a dark green shirt. The quality of the clothing and shoes were obviously top-notch, but that wasn't what made the blonde stop and stare. It was the cobalt hue to the taller's eyes and the silkiest brown hair he had ever seen. He was sure that he had never seen a more beautiful specimen of a human male in a long time.
"Uh…yeah…I'm Joey Wheeler," Joey managed to squeak out. "Are you Seto Kaiba?" He nearly smacked himself in the head with that statement. `Great…now he probably thinks I'm an idiot.'
If he was able to read minds, the honey eyed male would have been right. Seto narrowed his eyes at the shorter youth and shook his head slightly, making sure that Wheeler did not see the action. He had decided then and there to not like the blonde, no matter how piercing his brown eyes were. They were too much like a puppy's.
"Obviously," he answered snidely, his eyes rolling back for a moment. "Come and follow me, mutt. I'm sure that you will lose your way if left to your own devices."
Joey's mouth dropped. If anything, he was not prepared for the mutt reference nor was he prepared for the rude and cold manner he was treated to. Before he could say anything, the brunette grabbed his arm and forcibly dragged him into the elevator. He couldn't believe that someone who was physically attractive was so repulsive on the personality front. He sighed as he leaned against the back of the elevator, barely listening to the words that were coming out of his new roommate's mouth.
Seto glanced at his new roommate and already felt the exasperation building up within himself. He had been trying to get the mutt's attention by telling him what floor they were going to live on but from the vacant look on the blonde's face, he should have known better.
The elevator dinged loudly as it reached the tenth floor and the doors slid open slowly. The brunette swiftly walked out of the elevator and turned around to see Joey slowly shuffling his feet, his eyes taking in everything that he was seeing. He sighed as he motioned for the other to follow him down the well-lit hallway to a door that had 1035 on it.
Seto opened the door and went inside the living room, not even caring if Joey was behind him or not. He went to shut the door and it hit something with a loud thud. Raising an eyebrow, he opened the door wider and a smirk appeared on his lightly tanned face. The blonde had an angry glare on his feature and was holding his nose.
"That was really rude of you, Kaiba," Joey hissed as he pushed the CEO aside and went into their apartment. "One would think that a rich guy like you wouldn't be so rude."
At that moment, Seto smirked even more. "I'm not being rude," he responded, disdain evident in his voice. "You're just insignificant."
The blonde narrowed his eyes for a moment and then removed his hand from his nose. He checked it for a moment and was relieved that there was no blood. He just shook his head and glanced around the room. It was nicely furnished with a couple of couches, a coffee table, and a rather large entertainment center. Joey felt the drool wanting to run down his chin when he spied the latest in computer technology off to one side. He may not be a computer geek, but he knew how to use them to go downloading music and porn off of the internet and burn them onto CDs. Not even Yugi had a setup like Kaiba's.
"Nice place," Joey remarked candidly as he plopped himself on one of the couches. "I think I'm going to like it here." He then looked up at the CEO and grinned. "So where's my room? I hope it isn't close to yours because I really don't want to freeze."
Seto glared at the blonde and his hands balled into fists. "And what do you mean by that, mutt?"
The honeyed eyes of the blonde took on a mischievous glint as he put his feet on the coffee table and his hands behind his head as he settled more into the couch. "Since you have such a frigid attitude, you probably freeze anything that even tries to get close to you."
Resisting the urge to throttle the blonde, Seto tightened his fists even tighter. "Your bedroom is down the hallway, first door on the left," he said through clenched teeth, anger simmering just below the surface. He was not about to lose his temper to someone obviously of a lower class that he and lower himself to the mutt's level. "And the bathroom is directly across from your room. Now, here are the ground rules."
Joey raised an eyebrow. "Ground rules?"
"Yes, ground rules, you mutt," the brunette retorted acidly as he pulled out a piece of paper from a pocket in his trenchcoat and thrust it in the blonde's face. "Keep this around. You might have to so you can actually remember something. Anyway, rule number one, do not talk to me. You leave me alone. Rule number two, do not go into my room. If I see anything just remotely out of place, I'll take it out of your hide. And rule number three, never EVER bug me. You follow these rules and life will go easy for the both of use."
Joey rolled his eyes as he snatched the paper from Seto and stuffed it in his jeans, reminding himself to throw it away the first chance he got. He had already planned on leaving the bastard alone long before the note was thrust into his face. But now…he just wanted to make the brunette's life a living hell. Thankfully, with the subject he was majoring in, things will definitely get…explosive.

Chapter Two preview:
Seto tiredly walked into the apartment. The first day of classes was long and tiring because he had to actually refrain from snapping at the professors. How dare they presume they know everything about business? He was Seto Kaiba, the CEO of Kaiba Corp and a billionaire to boot. But since he was being forced to go to college, he decided to major in business since he already knew everything about it. He was planning on relaxing on a couch and look through the assignments. However, as soon as he entered the living room, he stopped short and was shocked at the sight presented to him.
Joey was sprawled over the couch, his arms and legs were somehow hanging everyway. His eyes were closed and mouth was wide open; drool was escaping from the corner of the mutt's mouth. And then the most horrendous sound could be heard coming from the blonde…snores that could break glass.
