Into the Shadows

Shaina: OK this is my try at a Yu-Gi-Oh dark story.

Dark Ryou Plot Muse: In 2005 the world is in utter chaos. When darkness rules over light, what will happen? When a band of young warriors rises against the evil, what will happen? When brother is pitied against brother and family against family, what will happen?

Bakura Disclaimer: Shaina-chan doesn't own Yu-Gi-Oh so please don't her. If you do Marik and I will be forced to find you. Oh and Anatsu does not belong to Keora.

Chapter 1: And So It Began

A girl with dark brown hair sits on top of a building and watches the world beneath her. Beneath her was utter chaos and fear. She brings one of her delicate hands across her shoulder and stopped on her wings and then touches her fangs. She remembers how she had been bitten by one of them. She thought vampires were just something from horror stories, but she had been proven wrong. " Keora, come on it's going to be light soon," whispers a small voice. The girl whirls around and looks at a little boy who appears to be only about 13 or so years old.

" OK Mokuba," whispers the girl and draws her cape over her thin shoulders. She follows her little brother into the building and goes into a dark room. This building was the last thing standing of what used to be Kaiba Corps. For some reason when she had been bitten she hadn't become a night walker like others. She guesses it was her light energy that has stopped her from becoming a total vampire. One of the drawbacks though was that she was extremely weak during the day even if she was not in light.

" Keora, we've got a problem," whispers a restrained voice from behind her. Keora whirls around and looks at the owner of the voice. Yugi Motou, the small duelist had joined her in her search for a cure and a way to get rid of the vampires after his grandpa and friends Tae and Tristan had been bitten. Now him and Joey, were two of her most trusted allies.

" Yes, Yugi?" asks Keora as she watches him fiddle with his Millennium Puzzle. Keora was usually calm, but right before it came light she became rather snippy so Yugi was a bit afraid of what would happen when he told her the news.

" It's Telsis. She was bitten last night," says Yugi quietly. Keora looks at Yugi and then puts her head in her hands.

" How many holders does that leave us with?" asks Keora quietly. Yugi looks at her and starts to count. This was a touchy subject with the vampire-girl, who had a temper to match her power.

" 10 or 15 at my best guess," says Yugi quietly. So far or holders they had lost: Amara, Cynara, Mirror, Isis, Shaddi, Kimeru, Ali, Ryn, and a few others. Of normal human friends they had lost: Serenity, Tae, Seto, Tristan, Grandpa, Duke, and all of Cynara's school friends. Keora wasn't counted as lost, because she was still with them. Now Shaddi's items resided with Yugi, and Keora had Cynara and Mirror's, Bakura had been given Ali and Ryn's items, and Malik and Marik were intrusted with Isis and Kimeru's items.

" Maku disappeared last night," whispers a voice next to Keora in the shadows. There sat Ryou his usual brown eyes now a red color. Ryou had been bitten when he tried to save Keora, but for some reason the two hadn't had the same symptoms of the others. Keora whirls around and looks at Mokuba and growls.

" They want us," whispers Keora and pounds her fist on her diamond. Yama shoots out and looks at her hikari.

" Grief Keora, calm down," says Yama. She was used to these fits of rage from her hikari after having to deal with them for the last 2 years. Keora looks at her yami and rubs the two fang marks on her neck.

" You got the blood," whispers Keora and turns to Marik who nods and holds out the transfusion bags he had obtained.

" Thanks," whispers Keora and disappears with one of the bags into her room. Ryou nods and looks at Marik and quietly nods again at the Rod, Ankh, and Watch holder. Marik nods back and disappears to his room with another of the transfusion bags. He reappears in front of Malik who looks at his yami and smiles weakly.

" Thank you Marik," whispers Malik. Marik just nods to his hikari who he had hidden from the others. " Well I guess we can't kid about me not biting anymore," says Malik as Marik hooks him up to one of the bags. Instead of getting the vampire gifts of fangs and night vision Malik had become deathly ill.

" Marik, you should have told me," whispers Keora from the corner of the bedroom. She looks at Malik quietly and walks up to him. Of all the vampires Keora had to be the most sneaky and she had good reason to be. She above all vampires was hunted and hated, because she hung out with humans. " We're going to get you better," whispers Keora and takes out a small bottle with a purple liquid in it. She touched Malik's hand gently and looks at Marik quietly. " Gifts, yeah, right more like curses," thinks Keora and in another room Ryou and Yugi nod.

" What's that?" asks Marik as he moves between his hikari and takes the vampires hand off of his hikari's. He may help her, but he didn't trust her very much and he didn't trust her with the life of his hikari.

" The antidote," says Keora quietly and looks at Malik quietly and a single tear comes into her once two tone eyes that are now a purple color. " Of course if you don't have enough trust in me I understand," hisses Keora. She was used to the prejudice of the regular humans, but Marik was not even close to normal.

" Then why don't you give it to yourself?" asks Marik suspiciously. He thought that the girl would love to be free of being a vampire, so why didn't she give herself the antidote.

" Because I'm not a vampire," whispers Keora quietly and looks at Malik quietly. " I'm not going to hurt you," says Keora and Malik nods and Keora takes out a syringe and fills it with the antidote and puts it in his arm. " It fixed up Mokuba and he was in the 3rd stage so it will fix you up," says Keora and turns to leave. She was referring to the time that Mokuba had gotten bitten by a vampire. Keora couldn't identify who it was, but she thought it was Cynara. She had used Mokuba as a guinea pig and the antidote had worked.

" What do you mean? You're not a vampire, but it appears to me you are. So what do you mean?" asks Marik. Keora looks at him and sighs quietly.

" Marik, if I was a true vampire I'd be running around trying to bite you," says Keora quietly. Marik nods and Keora does her disappearing act.

" Keora, get back in your room before you kill yourself," says Mokuba. Keora looks at her little brother and sighs inwardly.

" Mokuba, Malik's been bitten," says Keora quietly. Mokuba looks at her and starts to shake all over. " Yes, Mokuba he was, but I fixed him up," says Keora. Mokuba smiles and looks at his big sister.

" So, who was it?" asks Ryou from the shadows. He always seemed to slip in and out of the shadows like a cat.

" Isis," whispers Keora quietly and looks at Ryou. He is wearing all black and a bit of blood is at the corner of one of his lips. Keora shakes her head quietly and looks at him. He is more of a vampire then her, but she was able to contain herself. He always drinks the blood from the transfusion bags and she hates it. Suddenly the room starts to shine red and Keora growls.

" It's appeared," growls Keora and looks at a huge black metal pyramid that was in the middle of the desert. It was surrounded by vampires, but two stood out against the bunch. They were Seto and Duke, with Isis and Shaddi beside them.

" Listen you rebels, you have no hope so you better give yourselves up," says Seto. In his hand he holds a dark copy of the Millennium Puzzle. Duke holds a dark copy of the staff and Isis and Shaddi have dark copies of their own items. Keora watches them in disgust and hisses.

" I may be a vampire, but I'm never giving myself up," says Keora and looks at Ryou who is standing next to her.

" So the legend comes to pass," whispers Yami from where he stands behind them. " Darkness will fall on the world and the sun will not shine, but there will be a light. One with a pure heart and mind will shine and bring the world back to the way it used to be," says Yami. He looks at the group and sighs and looks at his hands. " But it's impossible with them having dark copies of their own items," says Yami.

" Those aren't copies," whispers Keora and takes the staff from behind her back. " Neither are these," whispers Keora quietly and holds the smooth silver staff. " Bakura, go get me the other items," hisses Keora and he runs off. He returns holding his items and with quick movement Keora connects the items into their rightful places. There before them stand three different items, but Keora undoes them and takes 5 items out.

" Puzzle, Staff, Headdress, Spear, and Cross," whispers Keora and hands them to Yami, Bakura, Yugi, and Ryou. " Spear goes to Yugi, Cross to Ryou, because of Mazara's critical state, Staff to Bakura and Puzzle to Yami," says Keora. Mazara hadn't been bitten, but she was in a critical state, thanks to Isis and Cynara who tried to kill her, but failed on account of Keora and Ryou.

" So what's the plan?" asks Yugi. Keora looks at him and disappears.

" Malik," whispers Keora and shakes the older boys shoulder. The now 17 or so year old boy looks at the 14-year-old girl and nods. Since the day Keora had been bitten, she hadn't aged at all. " The Pyramid has come," says Keora. Malik just nods again and looks at her. In the beginning he didn't trust the small Kaiba for anything, but now he'd trust her with his life.

" Marik," says Malik and Marik appears and looks at her.

" We need to find Anatsu, I take it," says Marik. Keora nods and he nods. " OK, one dagger wielder coming up," says Marik and Anatsu appears. Her hikari had been bitten by a vampire so she was alone now. She is a vampire hunter so Keora is taking a chance bringing her here.

" Don't worry, as I told Mokuba long ago, I won't hurt you," says Anatsu and nods. " So you need me," says Anatsu and Keora nods. " Glad to be of service," says Anatsu and bows her black overcoat flapping behind her.

" We lost Telsis, last night," whispers Keora and Anatsu nods.

" Good for nothing Headdress holder," says Anatsu jokingly.

" Don't forget Anatsu. This is war," whispers a cold voice from behind her. There stood Ashery the Saber holder and her hikari Naomi. Naomi's usually calm eyes were filled with pure hatred as she starred at the screen that displayed the pyramid.

" Naomi," whispers Keora and looks at the girl who had matured so much over the last two years. Suddenly a siren starts to whistle and Keora disappears and reappears next to Ryou. " Who?" asks Keora as she watches the screen.

" It's Cynara and her army," whispers Mokuba and points to the leader of the army.

" So be it," whispers Keora and suddenly the ground around her bursts into flames. The others jump back and she growls something under her breath. " The legend mentions three saviors and I can name them right off," hisses Keora. " Ryou, Malik, and I," says Keora, but turns around and looks at the others. She starts to chant something under her breath and the building starts to shake and suddenly it stops.

" What did you do?" asks Mokuba. He looks down under his feet and sees tile. " Are we in a pyramid?" asks Mokuba. Keora nods her head quietly and looks at them.

" Mokuba, I want you and Naomi to stay here with Maze," says Keora. Mokuba looks at his sister and shakes his head to indicate no.

" Keora, you promised me you wouldn't kill," whispers Mokuba. Keora looks at her little brother and takes out two cards from her pockets.

" You know who these are?" asks Keora. Mokuba nods and looks at his big sister.

" Seto's Blue Eyes, and Yugi has the other two," says Mokuba quietly. Keora nods and looks at Yugi. He hands over the two Blue Eyes and Keora put the four cards on top of each other.

She starts to chant a song and suddenly the tune reaches the ears of Ryou.

" Ancient Spirits of Hope and Light. Guide me tonight in my flight. Time is of the essence and death is near, but I don't want to fear. Dear Jesus Lord protect us now as we go forth," translates Ryou and suddenly the 4 cards start to glow and they float in the air. " Blue Eyes White Dragons, be free," says Ryou as Keora speaks in ancient Egyptian. Suddenly the room explodes in light and there before the astonished group of teens stand 4 Blue Eyes.

" Hey Joey where are you?" asks Keora and suddenly the blond haired teen appears. He simply nods and hands over his Red Eyes. Keora nods and brings the dragon to life and there before them stand the 5 dragons. Suddenly Keora takes out her deck and tosses 2 cards in the air. Right before the groups eyes materialize the Light Magician and the Change of Heart Magician. " There I think this will help," says Keora. The two female magicians nod and Light Magician walks up to one of the Blue Eyes and strokes its head.

" Hey Keora, here use my Dark Magician," says Yugi and hands her the card. Keora smiles gladly at the smaller boy and awakens the Dark Magician who bows to Yugi. " No, no don't bow," says Yugi to the magician.

" Well, what should I do?" asks the Dark Magician.

" How bout you help protect the kids," says Light ( Light Magician) from her perch atop the Blue Eyes head. Dark looks at the female magician and sighs and nods. Keora looks at the two and conjurer up a few more cards. There before them stood a couple more magicians: Magician of Faith, and Dark Magician Girl.

" OK DM and Faith take Red and B and guard the pyramid," says Keora. The two cards nod and jump onto the Red Eyes and the only remaining Blue Eyes. Change of Heart Magician or Crystal for short had taken the other Blue Eyes for herself.

" So Keora, what else are we going to do?" asks Yugi and Mokuba. Keora winks and flashes two cards before their eyes.

" Keora!" shouts Mokuba as his sister summons up the two monsters. There right before their eyes appear . . .

Ryou Muse: What she turned me into a vampire!

Yami: Hey for once she's not torturing me!

Shaina: Hey Yami, just wait your turn.

Malik: Yeah, and she goes off and makes me get bitten by a vampire.

Anatsu: Hey now I can finally kill that annoying Seto.

Mokuba: No you don't Anatsu.

Shaina: There will be no killing in this story. ( well maybe some that matters on the reviewers)

Anatsu: Then I'll just kill you so I can write it my own way!

Shaina: * does disappearing act*

Bakura: Do to circumstances beyond our control this little thing will end. Keep reading.

* Shaina is seen running in the background being chased around by something or someone with a Dagger.* ( Oh I wonder who that could be?)

Next Chapter: You get to find out what the two cards are. I'll give you a tiny hint, well actually no I won't. They try to get into the Dark Pyramid and they loose someone. What will happen? Can they save each other and return the world back to normal? How should I know? I'm playing this by ear. If you want one of your characters in my story just email me their stats and what side you want them to be on.

Warning to all Seto, Duke, Isis, and Shaddi fans: This is not a story for you. I don't hate them, they're actually some of my favorite characters, but I needed some people on the bad side. If you noticed a good amount of my original characters have also become vampires. Oh and there might be a surprise for all you Seto/Isis or Seto/Duke fans out there. It matters on what you all want. It's rated PG-13 cause I wanted to rate it that and I think it fits in somewhere in there. No cuss words yet, but there may be some in later chapters.
