Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ YuGiOh goes to Hogwarts! ❯ Diagon Alley ( Chapter 4 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

As the gang entered, low buzz of chatter stopped. A couple of people waved and smiled at Hagrid. They all seem to know him.

“The usual, Hagrid?” asked the bartender.

“Not now,” Hagrid replied, “Hogwarts business. Gotta keep my promise, if ya know what I mean.”

“Ah I see.”

He looked over Hagrid's body and raised his eyebrow as he saw strange-haired weirdly dressed people: Yugi, Marick, Ryou, Joey, and Seto.

“New `foreign' students?” the bartender asked.

“Yep!” he answered as he looked at his pocket watch. It's already 2:36 p.m in the afternoon.

“Oops! Gotta go. I'll see you at 8, Tom.”

“Alright! Goodbye friend!”

Hagrid turned around and signalled the gang to follow him. He led them through the bar and out into a small stone courtyard. Confused and puzzled, Yugi went over to Hagrid and tap on him (( I was going to say “shoulder”, but then I realized that Hagrid is a giant…..and Yugi is a really small teenager lol ^_^)).

“Err Hagrid….this is a dead end…”

Hagrid chuckled and turned to Yugi. He smiled.

“It may look like a dead end, but things aren't always what they seems. You best to remember that, Yugi.”

He took out his pink umbrella, turned back to the wall and counted the bricks with the umbrella. While he's counting, he muttered a few words. Seto raised his eyebrow.

“What in the world are you doing??”

“Stand back you guys,” he answered.

They did what he said and walked back a couple feet away from him. Hagrid then tapped the wall three times with his umbrella, and suddenly, the wall begins to shake rapidly. The bricks he tapped on shivered and quivered. All of the sudden, in the middle, a small hole formed. It grew wider and wider every second, then it turned into an archway. An archway wide enough for Hagrid to fit through, and though that, is a cobbled street filled with many interesting-looking people walking around in and out of the streets. The gang's eyes, not including Hagrid and Seto, widened as they stepped through the archway.

“Wow….” Joey said in amazement. He never seen or encountered something like that before.

“Gentlemen, this is Diagon Alley.”

----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------

Hagrid grinned at their amazed expressions. As the sun shines so brightly, it seems to make the cauldrons in the nearest shop sparkle.

“Well, come along then. You all need to get a room at the inn.”

Their amazed expression quickly turned into a frown.

“But….I don't think we have money to even stay there for one night,” Ryou said sadly.

“Hey! What about moneybags here?” Joey asked, referring to Seto Kaiba, who doesn't like the sound of that.

“He probably has million bucks in his pockets!”

“Is it in Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts?” Hagrid asked.

“What?” they all said in a unison.

“Your muggle money won't work here unfortunately. But don't worry, we can exchange them into wizard money in Gringotts Bank,” Hagrid explained.

Gringotts? Galleons? Knuts? Muggles??? They are learning many funny words all in one day.

“Alright then, I'll exchange some of my money to wizard money, but that's because I'm really tired and I want to get out of here, not to help you dweebs…”

Curious and interested, they followed Hagrid in many twists and turns of the streets. Like any kind of tourist, there are many “wow” and “oooo” coming from them in every corner. Yugi seems to be the most surprised one in the group, that he wants to see everything happen at once: people shopping, the shops, merchants selling weird products out in the streets, and lots more. He can hear low, soft hoots coming from a small dark shop with a sign that says “Eeylops Owl Emporium.”

“Well, here we are! Gringotts Bank,” Hagrid said.

They reached a golden and snowy white building that is taller than the shops. As they walked closer to the bank, Ryou freaked out at a sight of a small, weird, ugly-looking creatures guarding the doors.

“What is that??” Marick said quietly as Ryou cower behind him.

“These little ones are goblins,” Hagrid explained. “Never mess with one of these. They may be small, but they're really smart and feisty, plus they happen to have such powerful magic.”

Yugi, for some reason, can sense that too.

“Yeh'd be mad ter try an' rob this place.”

As they entered the bronze doors, they soon realized that they're surrounded by little goblins. Even though Seto looks grumpy, he's quite amazed at the sight of little goblins working in a bank so big, although he still doesn't believe that this whole thing is real.

“Hmph. This is a nice way to entertain your guest, Hagrid.”

“What do you mean by that?” Hagrid asked in confusion.

“I mean, come on, do you expect me to believe that these are `real' goblins working in a place like this? These are probably little robots or holograms to make it seem real…”

“Robots? Holograms?? What in Merlin's name are you talking about?”

He was about to say something else, when Yugi cut in so that there won't be anymore arguments from Seto.

“Hagrid, Seto doesn't really believe in magic…”

“Oh! Your one of those non-believers, are you?” Hagrid chuckled. “Don't worry, once you attend Hogwarts, you'll see how real magic is.”

They went up to what seems to be the front desk, and a little goblin climbed up its really high stool and sat down. They look really mean, for a goblin that asked really politely.

“How may I help you?”

Seto took out a bundle of cash out of his wallet and handed it to Hagrid. Marick's eyes widened

“How much money is that?”

“10 grans. Don't even think about stealing my money…”

“We were wondering if you can change these muggle money to Galleons,” Hagrid asked the goblin as he handed the cash him.

“Yes we can, sir.”

He counted the cash and typed something in a small brown calculator. He passed the cash to another goblin whispered something in its ear, and it ran to the other room.

“That's 5436 Galleons and 47 Sickles.”

Hagrid's eyes widened.

“Wow. That's a lot of money from just pieces of muggle papers”

“You'll be surprised how much money Seto has in his bank…” Joey said dully.

The little goblin came back from exchanging the money and handed a small brown bag to the goblin sitting in front of Hagrid.

“Would you like to keep some in the safe?”

“No thanks,” Seto said quickly. He doesn't want to keep his money in something that isn't really real. The goblin handed it to Hagrid, then he handed to Seto.

“Alright then. Thank you little fella. Now come on, lets go to the inn.”

They left the Gringotts Bank and went to a small inn just a little outside Diagon Alley. It looks simiar to the Leaky Cauldron, except there's a big sign that says “Lunar's Corner.” As they entered, the gang actually dropped their bags, and their mouths. It seems that there's no ceiling and it only showed clusters of stars and a bright silvery moon in the night sky. A comet flew by and they thought they heard a howl of a wolf.

“What the heck?” Joey asked, “it's only about 3:00 in the afternoon and its night time??”

“Yes it's 3, but this is just a magical illusion. It's not real.”

They got themselves rooms, which is still full of stars. Joey is sharing with Yugi, Marick is sharing with Ryou, and Seto got his own room. After they unpacked, Marick and Ryou joined up with Yugi and Joey in JY's(Joey and Yugi) room.

“Well….what do you think you guys?”

“About what Marick?” Yugi asked.

“About this whole experience.”

“I say this is going to be the coolest vacation ever!” Joey exclaimed.

“Same!” Ryou said. “I can't wait to go shopping for stuff in Diagon Alley!”

“I agree!” Yugi said in excitement.

They all then start talking about what they're going to experience in Hogwarts and what to expect. They make guesses and they laugh at it. They never had this much fun in a while. Then, there was a knock on the door and Yugi went to get the door. It's Hagrid.
“Hey Hagrid! What's up?”

“Hello there. Just came ter tell ya that I'm gonna go back to Hogwarts and fix some businesses. I'll be back to help you guys shop 10 in the morning. Now don't go anywhere while I'm gone, there are some places that you can't go. Alright?”

Yugi is a little disappointed. They were planning to walk around Diagon Alley a bit, but now it's been cancelled. Hagrid smiled.

“Don't worry, you can have a walk around in the inn. This place isn't that small, but unfortunately not as big for me.”

Yugi smiled back.

“Alright then. Thanks a lot for showing us around.”

“No prob. See you guys tomorrow then.”
