Ch.4
Dinner was a unique affair in the place all of them called Home, not that everything else about and surrounding the place couldn't be called unique either because sometimes it was downright strange. It was their Home, their home base, it held many of the things they had only seen in dreams and provided everything needed imaginable, which admittedly came in handy on more than one occasion. No one could complain about food at any meal for everyone got foods to their tastes and all things considered it was more than appetizing. It came as quite a shock when on one occasion when the pilots caught site of Shadow in the middle of the organized chaos that was the kitchen making dinner for them all by hand. At this point, after seeing some of Shadow's abilities they had assumed that the food was produced magically because each of them usually ended up eating a different meal according to favorites and preferences.

Many firsts occurred in the mansion and as predicted many surprises and discoveries. Such as the event they had stopped anticipating and this particular event took place during dinner. Speaking during a meal came naturally now because they all had things to speak of, like the new skills learned and seen. No one was really expecting it when it happened for they had grown used to the way things were. Duo was teasing Wufei and was trying to see how red in the face he could become. Well, suffice it to say it wasn't taken exceedingly well, and it didn't take a genius to see what would come next. A rant was not desired at the moment so when an unfamiliar voice said, "Is it really necessary to fight at the table? I thought you were possessed of better manners. Besides as funny as it is to watch you all have better things to do than that." it caused all of them to flinch and reach for weapons before it registered which part of the room the voice originated. All eyes swung toward Shadow. That light baritone was spoken in a monotone and regardless of that monotone put one in the mind of song and dance for some odd reason. It didn't remind a person of a human at all, more like a wild fey creature and a fey creature is what Shadow seemed like. In the weeks they had stayed here never had they heard him speak aloud and had thought nothing of it, being used to hearing him in their mind. Though it didn't hurt that they too now had learned and mastered that skill. A small feigned sigh of resignation issued from Shadow's mouth before stating, "This is exactly why I don't speak. My voice causes people to jump and startle. Though I suppose it is only natural that you all would be surprised. I haven't spoken in front of you before after all. I prefer telepathy." Not much any of them could say except that Shadow could speak how he wished, while keeping their own thoughts about his voice to their selves.

They had come to consider Shadow as one of their own, as family by this time and had on desire for him to be put on a different team. Between all of the training they had been doing they all, including Shadow had been going on missions. Their trust had grown and was now strong and fully rooted. Of course finding out about certain skills of Shadow's had strengthened the bonds of family and friendship farther because apparently he was fundamental in the making of their most prized possessions.

In the Command Center on Basement Level 3

Shadow had left the instructions to do what they wished to today after finishing any maintenance on their Gundams that was needed. Of course they were all a little curious as to what Shadow was up to after finishing the minor check-ups. Their Gundams had been moved from the landing area to the very bottom basement level. This particular level had several escape routes, had all the equipment needed, and was well protected and insulated which made it an ideal place to have the Gundams. There was access straight to the ocean, to other parts of Japan, and through special Gates to other continents. Needless to say convenient was an understatement. There was even a passage that led to the nearest road and could fit a Gundam standing up.

Their first time down to this level they had gotten their first look at Gundam Raven and a fine Gundam it was. A study of black and white with uncanny silver-white eyes that reminded them of Shadow's own with black feathered wings. It looked as if someone had taken bits and pieces from their own Gundams and Raven. It even had a unique version of the Zero system installed. It was the topic of Gundams that was being discussed when they entered the Command Center. The Doctor's and Shadow's discussion to be exact.

"Yes, I did try that new version of Zero. Damn system still has too many kinks in it. Wouldn't have built the damn thing if I'd known you'd inflict it upon the others. Made them go crazy the first time they used it. The only ones I'd even consider letting use it in that raw form would be Quatre and Heero. Both of them can handle it even if Quatre doesn't think he can. If what I'm Seeing is any indication we are all going to need every advantage we can get," was Shadow. "Could you upgrade the other Gundams? You spent enough time helping us improve and build them when you were younger after all. Besides we are rather busy at the moment. Blaze and Wolf are rather upset at the moment, Falcon and Tiger were needed on a special mission that requires their unique skills. Would it be possible to send them all there?" J spoke. "Have the remaining Bladebreakers and Blitzkrieg Boys under our roof? It'll do the others good to meet some of the others. They'll all be working with each other eventually. This will just spped up the process. How are you old buzzards doing anyway? Last I saw you is when I got your sorry asses out of Ozzie clutches after creating the new Gundams," was Shadow's response. "How exactly do you end up creating Epyon? Fine piece of work that," asked G.

"I didn't get much choice in the matter. It is a nice piece of work as you said though I really can't take complete credit for the system installed in it. Khushrenada is a genius if nothing else. He personally helped me design and build it. Epyon was built with him in mind though I have a hunch he'll pilot Tallgeese instead. The Lightning Count said it was payment for rebuilding Wing though I doubt that's what he believes, it was more of an excuse really. Besides Epyon is much better suited to the Lightning Count in my opinion. The system is based off my peculiar Gift I regret to say. Apparently my guess about our side not being the only ones with powers is correct. I did warn you the circle would end up widespread," Shadow said. "Your sure he'll pilot Tallgeese? No, no, never mind. Your never wrong about these things. We have a favor to ask of you though I'm sure you already know what we will ask but regardless it must be asked. Will you take them in and take their help Shadow? You know as well as we what must be done and how that must be accomplished. Time is running short. So will you?" asked J.

"I'll do what must be done. I have never shirked my duties. Be thankful that the leaders of our enemies are honorable or terrible trouble would come of it. Be thankful for unconscious awareness, and be thankful for the one who knows the pain of the price. All will be taken care of. I will do it after the other pilots get to know the other teams. Otherwise I'll ask the others for their opinions on what should be done to their Gundams. I'm sure they'll be full of questions and ideas. End transmission," were Shadow's final words. As he had been saying this he had turned around and was looking at them as if he wasn't surprised to see them there. Which in itself wasn't much of a surprise. Shadow had a hair trigger worse than any of them had, and his awareness was still sharper and stronger than theirs. At their reluctance to speak Shadow raised an eyebrow and began, //Well since I'm pretty sure I know your questions already I'll just explain. I was captured along with the Doctors, though I allowed myself to be captured with them. It serves our purposes in winning this war to have Epyon built. The system in it I believe you have experienced Heero. You must understand I have very peculiar Gifts and one of them is the Sight which was somewhat incorporated into that system in Epyon. You must also understand that the future is as changeable as the surface of the ocean but just as absolute. Prophecies always happen in one fashion or another, but what one usually Sees is one future of many. Depending on the strength of the Seer, they might See the most likely future which gives one the opportunity to change it. Heero didn't respond well to piloting Epyon because while he has the capability of seeing the past and future his specialty is the present. The wind can be used for all three though it is a particularly good spy. It clashed horribly with his powers.//

As Shadow paused Heero chose that moment to interrupt with, "You're an Oracle aren't you. I've read about such things in the library and you've taught us faster than normal so far by just reawakening knowledge that was already in our minds. You've said we're old souls before and talked as if you knew of the past lives we've led. You're a Guide as well as everything else. All Oracles are Guides and you were born to help us." He said this with absolute certainty and it rang true to the others as well now that it had been said aloud. //I shouldn't be surprised that you found out what I am. Highlander gave me that tag though he didn't know the truth in the name he bestowed upon me. He is on the Majestics and is known for his temper since it matches his hair. A Guide I surely am and everything must happen as it should. You are all coming along so well, and you are also right about me knowing who you were and still are along with awakening what you already knew. Circumstances still haven't resolved to the point where I can tell you though. Certain things must happen and all of the circle needed must be gathered first before everything relevant is divulged. I said before that Master Jericho would be asking that his team join us to help. That team is who the Doctors are asking me to take in. They are needed for the resolution of several things actually. I'll go get them when Blaze and Wolf's teams settle in.//

An immediate protest went up when Shadow proposed going and getting this team of this Master Jericho. They were supposed to watch each others backs. Shadow might be strong but he was their team member, their brother, and Wufei was his partner and equal with a blade as he had taken pains to prove to the stubborn Dragon. //Alright, alright, I get it. You won't let me go alone. Well Blaze, Wolf, and the others probably wouldn't let me go alone either. So I'll just take all of you with me. I already know where but I'm going to wait until you're comfortable with the others first. Brother am I? Well if you say so, then I guess I am. You'll like the others, quite a bit actually. I think you'll like Jericho's team as well. Okay enough of this. I believe it would be prudent of you all to go upstairs. We can discuss the Gundams and other things later. I fear 'Scythe and Lunos have pulled a prank on Shenlong and is now intent on frying them judging by what I'm picking up. It seems those two are using your floor as their hiding ground and have involved Wing, Sandrock, and Heavyarms in the their 'game'. You might want to hurry before something valuable gets burnt.// That was all they needed to hear to get them running upstairs chastising their spiritbeasts the whole way.

'They've come so far in so short of time. Maybe there is hope after all.'
