Chapter 2:First Friend
February 8, 2000
I met a boy that day. I was walking around town as usual. I got used to blizzards, but I didn't expect to see anyone. I had good hearing. I don't remember how, but I enhanced it to hear from afar.
I heard a scream not far ahead. I'm the curious type, so I went to check it out. When I got there, I saw a boy picking on another boy smaller than him.
"GIVE ME YOUR MONEY PUNK!"The little boy wimpered on the ground as the bully kicked him again."GET UP!"The kid struggled up.
"You'll pay!"The bully raised his fist.
I guess you would expect me to walk away because it was none of my business. I don't know why, but I went to take the hit for the boy. The smaller kid stared at me. You must think I'm a softy, but believe me, I wouldn't have saved him unless he was in real big trouble. Blood trickled down my cheak. He punch me again, but I kept getting up. By then, the hood of my cloak had fallen and revealed my face.
"You're weak kid!"The bully spat in my face.
I wanted to curse at him so much at that moment, but I did what I felt was right. I let him hit me. I just kept standing again. He grew tired after a few minutes and left. The other kid came up to me. Turns out, he was my age, and taller. By the time he reached me, my head gave a huge ache. I put my hood back up and started on my way.
"Wait!"I turned around to see him coming with a bag.
"What? You're welcome. What else do you want?" He held out some bandages and medicine.
"You should bandage your cuts...miss..."
"One, I don't need your help. Two, don't call me miss. Three, call me Razor."I didn't want to leave my real name.
I pulled my hood back up and walked away. I heard someone's footsteps and revearsed into battle stance. I realized it was the kid again and calmed down.
"You're annoying me. What do you want?"
"You'll get sick if you don't bandage them."
"I told you, I don't need your help."
I didn't trust anyone. I didn't like being baby-sat. I had changed through the years. Back then, I didn't have the heart to trust. Right now, as I write, I regret the words I had said to him.
I walked away again. I walked to the only home I knew. The forest was my home. I didn't care that I had to live alone. I didn't care about much.
I woke up the next morning when I heard someone coming. Arg...It was him again...
"What are you doing here?!"I got into battle stance again.
"Relax. I was just wondering... Well, if we could be friends."
"If I give you a chance, will you leave me alone?"
"Most definately. I promise to be your friend until the end."Those were his exact words. I believed them.
For the next year, I spent time bonding with him. He was actually sort of nice. I was nine, and he was too. Then another encounter came. This encounter was the wierdest of my life...
