They were staring at each other barley 10 ft apart but wholly intent on each other's movement, they never blinked (Algernon might no have been able to) just staring at each other waiting for the other to make the first move. Harry was beginning to feel nervous at the tension between them; he could have sworn that the air was crackling with the tension, and then the air began to fill with tiny static charges that cracked throughout the air. Then the sky went from a cheery blue to storm cloudy gray ant lightning lanced between the clouds illumining the aria with a yellow light, "looks like Algernon wants to set the stage", Shadow pointed out blandly as he looked at the stormy skies with mild interest. Harry was wondering what Shadow meant by `set the stage' but then Hermione gasped, "Algernon can change the weather". Shadow turned and looked back at her as if he just remembered she was there and said "not tetchily the weather, just some storm clouds in a particular aria, but there is never any rain, just a lot of lighting", then he turned around and continued to watch the battle with avid interest.

Then Algernon broke the standoff by assuming the same position she had used to kill the last two DE's, she spared her arms and smiled before disappearing. But instead of reappearing behind Voldamort she stopped right in front of him and then disappeared and began reappearing at different places around him. This continued for a while before Algernon began tightening her circles, then she suddenly lunged for Voldamort, but he was waiting for this, just as she reached him a small silver shield appeared out of nowhere and Algernon's hand banged into it sending a gonglike note reverberating around the yard. After Harry uncovered his ears he looked up and saw that the shield had appeared just in time, it was right in front of Voldamort's face and inches from his neck. Then Voldamort gave his wand a complicated sort of wave and it glowed a sinister green light and now resembled a neon sward, he quickly swung it at Algernon who disappeared and reappeared with a fist aimed right at Voldamorts head, but the shield moved and blocked the blow in the nick of time again and the same gong like note echoed around the yard. Algernon backed off and started shaking her soar hand, cursing in an unknown language Harry caught a word that sounded like `Ningen' but the rest he didn't hear.

Then Voldamort started laughing, he was chucking while he taunted in his high cruel voice "I am well aware that no spell I currently know has the capacity to harm demons but as demonstrated I have discovered that your attacks revolve around a close contact bases, so I simply had to find away to render all physical attacks useless, you are welcome to try again of course but no attack of yours is strong enough to get through this shield". Then he laughed slightly again but his laughter was grounded out by a screech that sounded like a cross between an eagle screech and scraping metal. Then Harry realized that Algernon made the noise out of anger and her two spikes began to glow and crackle with electricity, then two bolts of lighting lanced from the sky and hit the ground leaving a small smoking crater, then two small lightning bolts lanced from Algernon's spikes and headed straight for Voldamort, he was gone in a whirl of a cloak and reappeared right behind Algernon and swung his wand/sward at her exposed back, but Algernon's tail came up out of nowhere and struck him on his side and he crumpled on the ground caught completely by surprise.

It was now Algernon's turn to laugh as she whipped around and gather electricity in her foot and stomped down right where Voldamorts head had been but he was gone again. And reappeared right in front of Algernon and swung his sward down as if he was going to cut her I half, but Algernon looked up and grabbed sward with both her hands and held the blade at bay. This continued for what felt like hours, but in reality it was only about 45 seconds, Algernon kept the sward away but was unable to force it away, the Voldamort let the pressure loose and Algernon toppled forward but he quickly used the surprise to twist the blade and Algernon let loose another screech and clutched her left hand. Her tail whipped around and tried to whack him but he easily Disapparated away and reappeared a few feet away grinning evilly, then Algernon stopped clutching her hand and turned to face him again and resumed he fighter stance, but Harry noticed that her left hand was being moved cautiously and when Harry caught glimpse of it he couldn't help but gasp. Where 5 fingers should have been their were now only 2, the pointer and thumb, the other three were cut off at an angle so this was less finger the farther you looked from the pointer finger.

Algernon's face was contorted with pain and rage and went into a blind furry of attacks, sending them in an disorderly and erratic fashion leaving herself open for attack many times and only her blinding speed kept her alive, and that didn't look like it would hold out for much longer, as her breathing became more and more labored, then she faltered in one step and the sward caught her across the back and sent her sprawling on the ground painting for breath. She still tried to get up but Voldamort stepped on the still bleeding wound and she screeched in agony and remained on the ground. Shadow and Attica were up in a flash and ran to help their comrade but they weren't fast enough, she was about to be impaled, Harry was compelled to jump in and help himself but then a jet of red light flew out of nowhere and almost hit Voldamort if he didn't disappeared at the right time and reappeared about 20 feet from the fight.

Harry head snapped to the left and there was Albus Dumbledore along with Sirius, Lupin, Madeye, and Mr. Wesley with their wands out and pointed right at Voldamort. Voldamort then realized he couldn't take them all on at once and looked about ready to flee but suddenly Algernon's tail whipped out and grabbed him around the ankle, then he received major shock treatment an 1000 volts of electricity coursed through him, but he reacted so swiftly it was amazing. In one fluid movement he brought his sword down and stuck it right through Algernon's tail and disappeared, and Algernon slumped to the ground either unconscious or dead.
