CH APTER 2
Koenma unfolded the letter, what surprised him next was that it was written in blood.
“Ogre? Did you see him write this?” Koenma asked.
George nodded.
“Is this his blood?”
“Yes Prince Koenma he used his earring to pierce his skin.”
Koenma nodded and read the letter.
He paled at what it said.
` By Kami...I never thought my father would go this far...'
Koenma finished reading the letter in silence and turned his gaze to the eagerly awaiting group.
Botan and George looked ready to jump out of their skin.
“He has fallen to a new low...”
Botan's eyes widened and George looked confused.
“What kind of low?” Yusuke asked, he looked tense, his muscles twitched, a habit when he was anxious.
“He is turning on his own men...” Botan became frightened at the words Koenma spoke.
The toushin to his left looked anxious as ever.
“Should we tell the others?” Botan asked.
Before Koenma could answer Yusuke spoke.
“Yes! They are also targets whether it was stated or not! They need to know, I am not going to let them get hurt because I wanted to avoid them getting involved, they were already in it from the beginning...Besides...Enema knows we are attached to them...And if they aren't aware of the danger they could be targets, to weaken us... and I will not let that happen!”
Koenma raised an eyebrow.
“Always stating your opinion at the beginning Yusuke...you always were one to jump in with both feet...”
Yusuke looked at him from the corner of his eye.
“Is there any other way to jump in?” Koenma gave a nervous grin.
“Same old Yusuke, with or without demon blood.”
Yusuke ignored him in favor of concentrating on dialing a familiar phone number.
~
Kurama gave a look around the small clearing, this was where Yusuke said to meet.
The kitsune furrowed his eyebrows mentally, showing no outward signs of his confusion.
He was curious to why his friend was calling them all together, even Hiei, there were few times this happened, all happening when they were still employed by Reikai.
He was cut off from his thoughts when he sensed the familiar aura of Hiei, the hybrid most likely let his presence be known
Kurama caught sight of the flicker of black from the corner of his eye.
“Why did the detective contact us stating he wished to speak?”
Hiei asked.
“Why don't you ask him your self, He is not far away.”
Following Yusuke was Kuwabara and Koenma.
To say they were surprised to see the Demi god would be an understatement, though neither revealed their shock.
“Yusuke, why did you call us here?” Kurama asked getting to the point.
Yusuke's turned his attention to the kitsune avatar.
“I thought you would all like to know, though Koenma already does...”
Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei were all interested now.
“Enema is planning to attack us, this time, he isn't doing it to preserve the peace, and he is getting dirty about it.”
Kuwabara openly showed his anger.
“What The Hell?! Can't Reikai Just Leave Us Alone?!” Kurama was about to point out that Kuwabara had nothing to do with Reikai anymore when, Yusuke cut him off.
“This time we are all in it, and apparently they can't, not until we are dead... think about it...we are a threat to them, we all excel at some point, and we can function together, if we wanted we could wipe out armies, where one of us is has a weak point, it is an others strength.
When we fought Yakumo we displayed how well we can work as one, that scares Enema, and so he has found a way to kill us all...permanently...”
Koenma added to this.
“And the fact that I have gone against him, and work willingly with the four of you is another factor, the way he plans to eradicate will leave us with nothing, not even our soul will be left...”
Hiei raised an eyebrow.
“And how pray, tell does he plan to finish us?”
All attention was turned to the hybrid.
Koenma spoke, “Purification...”
~
A scream tore through her lips. She did all she could to hide her pain, but the effort was fruit-less tears streamed down her face. She could feel the searing hot blade slicing through her soft flesh, and she could do nothing to stop it.
She tried to free her arms from the iron shackles, though it did nothing. her powers were bound and warded. through her blurry vision she committed every face to memory, later, if she was ever free, she would kill each and every last one of them.
She had long ago lost her innocent demeanor, along with some blood.
She supposed they were getting some satisfaction out of hearing her scream.
Another piercing cry was ripped from her throat as she felt the blade slice deeper, and then something being installed in her, she had no clue where the pain was coming fro or where the thing was being attached, nothing all her whole body was filled with pain.
The bastards hadn't even knocked her out, so she was awake through out it all, and physical pain was nothing compared to what it felt like when the drained her of her powers.
It was like losing blood, except instead of becoming less aware and cold, Her body was burning and she felt everything and she was so in tune with all her surroundings.
It sent a shiver up her spine just remembering.
And when it was pushed back into her it was like it was foreign and it tried to purify her.
Then once it recognized her it would settle and try to heal the wounds it caused, and that caused more pain.
Her body was always sensitive after it tried to purify her and healing felt like a thousand knives cutting her, and then she was sewn back up.
And each time this happened her power would come back twice the size was when it was removed.
Her body was constantly trying to readjust to the sudden power growth, but it was usually to much.
Her heart rate was quick as they finished. Her wounds that were in need of stitches were simply wrapped in gauze with a bit of salve that stung.
She felt strong arms lifting her limp body. She bobbed inanimately as they carried her to where the kept her.
She was dropped none too gently on the padded floor.
Her bleary vision searched around the room. It was similar to a room of an insane asylum, everything was `safe'. she couldn't hurt herself the walls were padded as was the floor.
Though unlike an asylum, the room wasn't white, giving off the illusion of purity, slowly driving the occupant insane...or more so.
No it was a slate gray, causing a feeling of despair, giving no illusion of hope.
Though it did still drive one insane...
Kagome stared blankly at the walls various thoughts running through her head.
`Weren't most geniuses in sort of fashion crazy...' every brilliant man was in some way deranged.
She supposed that was the down fall to being ingenious...seeing the world for what it truly was and understanding complex ideas is overwhelming...something no one is meant to know...
For some reason every time she was tossed into this room these were her only thoughts, but she didn't mind, it took her mind off the pain.
She stared at her reflection in the bullet proof glass, she knew they were behind it... they wanted to monitor her, make sure she didn't hurt herself...
Make sure their progress didn't kill her...I t wouldn't have been the first time...
Yes she had died, but they were always there to revive her, never letting her rest.
She supposed even if she did make it home no one would want her, she had been torn up and stitched back together, like a child's toy.
Once the toy is broken the child is sad, but when the child receives a the toy put back together, the scars remain and the child no longer loves it like he or she used to...
she was the toy, she had been torn apart and patched back together terribly, she was broken beyond repair, her scars would always remain.
Kagome was laying on her side her arm stretched out beneath her, as she stared at the medical bracelets on her wrist.
Both of her arms were wrapped up to the knuckles, she could barely move them, not that she wished to, it hurt too much.
She wrapped her arms around her self trying to keep them as stiff as she could, beneath the exposed parts of her hands she felt the stiff fabric of the hospital gown she was dressed in.
Her body was trembling from the movement she was doing. Blood seeped slowly from the reopened wounds marring the once white bandages.
But she didn't notice as she glared at the futon in one of the corners.
She wasn't actually glaring at it, it was just in her line of vision, she was thinking of all the pain she had been put through for...she didn't know how much time had passed.
It was all so blurry and it felt like it had been months, but she knew at the most it had been a week.
Her family wouldn't be looking for her, they thought she was in the feudal era, and Inu-Yasha wouldn't look for her, he thought she was with her family.
Until two weeks had passed would Inu-Yasha come looking for her, alerting her family that she had not been with him.
And only then would they worry. Slowly the miko's word was going black as she faded into the oblivion of a dreamless sleep, where it was safe, but that wouldn't last the nightmares of reality would ensure that.
Her vision was hazy and she could swear she was hallucinating , because as she looked at herself in the reflective glass she saw not Kagome, nor the reincarnation of Kikyou, she saw a monster.
