Chappie numbah five!! I am sooooo good! sorry that it took so long to update! ^.^; had dentist appointment, and he gave me extra novacaine*sp?*... It kinda numbed my brain along with my mouth. Have you guys ever had your tongue numbed to where you can't feel it if you bite it? yeah, it was pretty bad... and when the novacaine wore off my brain went into low gear, and I was drooling everywhere... LAUGH AT ME NOW, AND GET IT OVER WITH!!!!! but, anyways... here's chappie numbah five--

Bril, Yumiko, Sliho, and Dirk watched, as their cousin danced with a girl. They were all thinking about their own lack of dates, and who they would consider dancing with. They each scanned the room, considering who to approach. Shodo is one of the only guys in the universe who could pull off what he did.

~~~with Yumiko~~~

Yumiko glanced around the room, looking for a suitable female to dance with. He usually didn't dance, but he spotted a cute water elemental, and decided that she would be perfect. He started toward where she was chatting with several other girls.

"Excuse me. Miss?" he gently tapped her shoulder, and she turned around with every intention of sending him away, when she saw who he was.

"Yes? What would you like, Yumiko?" she blinked in a cute, questioning manner.

"Would you like to dance with me?" he offered her his hand.

"Ummm..." she turned to the other girls. They whispered something, and giggled. He quirked a brow. She turned back, "Yes, I would like to dance with you. I would like that very much." she smiled, "My name's Kim. And, Envy over here," she gestured towards Envy, "thinks that your cousin, Dirk, is cute. Would you tell him that before we go out to dance? So she can dance too? please?"

He sighed inaudibly, and said, "Of course, Lady Kim. I would love to do that for your friend." He smiled at her, and her stomach felt as if it was filled with butterflies.

'What is going on with me?' she thought, 'No other guys ever had that sort of effect on me... maybe it's just the food.' she shrugged it off, as they approached Dirk.

"Dirk, this girl has something to say to you." Yumiko tugged on Kim's arm to bring her out of her stupor, "Well? Aren't you going to tell him? You practically begged me to bring you over here so you could tell him, so tell him."

"Huh? Oh, yes. That girl over there," she pointed at Envy, "She wants to dance with you, but she's too shy to come over here and ask you herself." she smiled politely at his expression, and said, "No, this isn't a trick. She thinks you're cute. You should at least give her a chance." He nodded. "Good. Let's go now, Yumiko. I've waited long enough."

He smiled, and turned to the dance floor. Kim looked back, and, sure enough, Dirk was walking over to talk to Envy. 'Score!' she thought, as she was pulled into Yumiko's embrace.

She sighed, and melted into him. His strength flowing through her, as he spun her out, then pulled her back to him, his movements flowing perfectly. She wondered, 'Is this true happiness?'

Dirk timidly approached the girl that Kim had pointed out earlier.

"Miss Envy?"

She whirled around, and blushed. "Dirk? What is it?"

"Would you dance with me?" he mumbled.

"What was that? Didn't quite catch it." she smiled mischeiviously.

"Would you dance with me?" he said.

"I'd love to dance with you!" she exclaimed. Dirk jumped, as several heads turned in their direction. She reached her hand out to him, reassuring him that she did want to dance.

He led her out onto the dance floor, where a slow song was playing. He pulled her close, and she fitted herself against him. She fit perfectly against his chest. He led, while she simply swayed along, and closed her eyes contentedly. "Is this what it feels like to have someone truely want you to be with them, and want to be with them in return?" he thought aloud.

"It's called love." Envy whispered. Dirk jumped slightly. He hadn't realized that he'd said that out loud. She looked deep into his eyes, and saw that he had never had a woman's love before. She smiled reassuringly, and the room warmed with her contentment, as little sun rays came streaming in the windows, and reflected off of the moon like a mirror ball. Dirk looked around in amazement.

"How did you do that?" He asked her.

"I control weather." She yawned, this was old news, "The sun rays are a part of weather."

"Oh. I like the sun rays, they warm the earth. That's my element, you know."

"Really? Awesome." she melted into him, warming his chest.

He closed his eyes, and let her warm him with her love. She sighed, "Dirk."

"Hmm?"

"The music is speeeding up, you know."

He opened his eyes, "Aw, man. Why does there have to be other kinds of music?"

She giggled at his feeble attempt of a joke. "That would be too boring. People would complain. Some of us like our pop-rock music."

"Uh-huh." She could tell that he wasn't really paying attention.

"Could you stop the daydreaming, and come back to reality?"

"Why would I want to do that? My dreamworld was very beautiful, you were there."

"I'm here too, you know" she giggled, 'Man, am I giddy today.' she thought. 'I wonder why...'

Her thoughts were interrupted by someone announcing some new guest.

"Introducing, Lady Maria." She stayed in her comfy position, as the new arrival headed to find her date, who had already arrived.

'Where is he?' "Sly?" she looked around, "Sly?" she finally gave up looking for him manually, and stood still, while her ultrasonic sensors searched for him. 'Ah hah! there you are!'

"Maria!!" Sly rushed over to meet the Queen of the Bats, his queen, and embraced her in loving arms.

"Sly... I couldn't find you any other way... good thing you can sense that sort of thing, huh?"

"Yeah. Good thing." he wasn't really paying attention to her, he was more interested in her wings. "What did you do to your wings, honey?"

"I washed the dye off of them. This is their natural color." she stretched them out, and showed him how they looked more natural now. "See?"

"Yes, I do. Why did you dye them in the first place?"

"Because, one of my ladies in waiting decided that the color matched my personality, and I tried it out." she smiled, "You liked it."

"Yes, I did. I thought that it was your natural color, but this dark purple looks better." He smiled, and leaned down to kiss her. She reached up, and placed her hands on either side of his head, as he deepened the kiss. He pulled back, leaving her breathless.

"Why did you stop?" she was getting annoyed.

"Because, we've drawn the attention of every person in this hall." he guestured around with his hand. Everyone seemed to get a sudden interest in anything else. Some stared at the ceiling, or the floor, but most seemed to like looking at the false moon, shimmering in the center of the hall.

Maria blushed, hiding her face in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her petit frame closer to him, as she wrapped her wings around him, effectively hiding them both from view.

"Sly..." she whispered, snuggling closer to his warmth.

"Hm?"

"Could we find a nice, secluded corner? You know how much I hate bright lights."

He sighed inwardly, "Yes, we can, but why do you hate brightly lit areas?"

"Why do you think? I am a bat, after all." she giggled at his expression, "An 'ah-hah' moment there, dear?"

"More like an 'oh, yeah' moment, hon." He smiled, as she pulled him into a shadowed corner.

"Now this is more like it! I like this place, it has nicely lit rooms, but it also has conveniently dark corners... perfect for hiding from and/or watching other people."

"That's nice." Sly had drifted off into a daydream, and Maria left him there, since he wasn't trying to leave, she was happy... until...

CRASH!!!

Everyone in the entire hall jumped at the sound of a chandalier crashing to the floor in the dining room.

"SELENA!!!"
