*~Chapter eight~*
At breakfast, Star recieved several worried looks. She tried to act normal, and answer everyone's questions as politely as she could. The worst of it all was that she could hear thier unspoken questions.
{What was Sesshoumaru doing in there? Is he involved in this? Are they involved with each other?}
It was a heavy burden on her aching heart knowing that they would all be suspicious of Sesshoumaru now that he'd been in her room. Even if it was merely because he feels responsible for what happens to her when she loses touch with reality, they will be suspicious. Her only consolation being that Chybee understood and sympathized with her.
{Are you okay, Starlett-chan?} Chybee called to her telepathically.
{No, Chybee-chan. They'll all be suspicious now. At the very least you understand. Thank you for being there for me.}
{Hey, what are friends for? I know that if I ever had a problem, you'd be the first one there to help me out of it. Am I right?}
{Don't you know it.}
The girls smiled at their silent pact of friendship, and Sesshoumaru noticed this. {What are you two smiling at?} he called to the giggling girls.
{Nothing, Sess-chan.}
{Yeah. Nothing, Sesshoumaru.}
They smiled at each other again, before bursting out in violent giggle fits. The rest of the breakfast table turned curious eyes in their direction.
"Please excuse me," Star stood and left.
"Please excuse me as well," Chybee followed her friend out of the dining hall.
As Chybee left, a new figure appeared. A mage. She surveyed the curious faces from under her hood, and proceeded to follow the girls out of the hall.
Kristina leaned over to Firey and Kitgirl, "Who was that?"
The girls just shrugged, and headed to follow the cloaked figure.
"Hey! Where are you three going?" Kouga yelled.
"Yeah, where do you think you're going?" Hiei called.
"We're going to see if your death glares did anything to Star. You boys should really learn to be nicer to your host," Firey answered hotly.
"She's got a point," Shadow pointed out, as the trio hurried after the mage.
"Who asked you?" Kouga snarled.
"Kouga, calm down. It's not the end of the world," Hiei reminded him. "Where did you come from, Shadow?" he asked.
"I've been here this whole time. I watched what you all did to Star, and I think that you should at least find out what happened before you go throwing around accusations."
Hiei nodded, as Youko came around to join them.
"You know that Shadow's right, Kouga," Youko said carefully, "we should talk to Sesshoumaru. I have a feeling that he'll be more than willing to clear things up for us."
"He left for Earth early this morning. Something about his brother," Hiei stated. "He should be back in a few hours."
"Well then, why don't we head to the hot springs and relax?"
"Okay."
"Sounds nice."
Kouga merely grunted in agreement.
*~*~*~With Kristina~*~*~*
The girls reached Star's chambers just after the cloaked figure disappeared down the hall, having already been in and out.
Firey knocked on the door timidly, "Star? Can we come in?"
"Who's with you?" Star replied.
"Kristina and Kitgirl. I am Firey. We wanted to see how you were doing. After the treatment you recieved at breakfast, we could've thought that you committed something unspeakable,"
"You may enter,"
Firey pushed the door open, and came in to find Star on the bed, and Chybee sitting indian-style on the floor.
"Now, tell us, what really happened last night?"
Star sighed, and relayed the past night's events. Chybee supplied her side of the story, and, by the time they'd finished, all three of the girls were in tears.
"Wow, I never thought that it would be like that," Firey said between sniffles.
"How could you live with yourself?"
"Why do you think this happens?" Star asked skeptically, "Do you honestly think he would have been in here if he didn't have to?"
They shook their heads, knowing now that Sesshoumaru was Chybee's lover.
"Sesshoumaru is like another brother to me. Mercury is too busy with his blacksmithing to spend any quality time with his little sister, and Mars isn't even my brother yet."
"What about your sisters?" Kristina asked curiously.
Star sighed, "Athena and Artemis are too busy loving their freedom to visit me often, and Venus is just too little. The only real companion that I had was Comet, my kitty."
"Where is Comet now?" Kitgirl wondered aloud.
"She's around here somewhere. I'll call her for you," Star closed her eyes and concentrated.
A silver fire cat flew in and landed on the balcony. Changing to her kitten form, Comet leaped into Star's lap.
"She's so beautiful!" Kristina gasped.
"Comet," Star said. The cat looked at her. "These nice girls would like to meet you," she guestured to the four girls seated on the floor.
As if it had just noticed them, the cat leaped into Chybee's lap and purred loudly.
They all petted and scratched, and 'ooh'ed and 'ahh'ed at the cat's silver coat, while Star sat on the bed, knowing full well that Comet was only putting up with them because she'd asked her to.
{The things that I do for you.} Comet said to Star telepathicly.
{I know, you love me.} Star smiled, as the cat looked at her with a questioning stare. {Just put up with them for a little while longer, until I get them to leave with me to go to the hot springs. Then you'll be free to do as you please.}
{Well, take your time.} the cat replied sarcasticly.
"Girls, take it easy, she's an old cat."
They released a very bedraggled animal, which immediately hopped back into Star's lap to clean and fix its fur.
{Those girls are animals!} Comet complained while licking her fur until it regained its normal shine.
Chybee giggled, as she could hear the conversation, and decided to add her two cents worth. {Animals, are we?}
The cat jumped slightly before responding, {Yes, if you must know. You ruined the beautiful shine that I spend hours perfecting. Now I have to sit here until the normal color returns.}
The two who could hear Comet's compaints giggled as the cat carefully cleaned herself.
"Hey! Why don't we head over to the hot springs?" Chybee suggested.
"What if someone walks in on us?" Kristina said.
"I'll put up a barrier that will keep all males out of the springs until we're done bathing," Star said, "so don't worry."
Firey clapped her hands together, "Let's go then!"
Star dumped Comet on the bed, and rushed to lead the excited girls to the springs. When they arrived at their destination, they recieved quite a shock. Kouga, Hiei, Shadow, and Youko were already there.
"OUT!!" Star bellowed in a perfect immitation of her father's angry shout.
The startled occupants of the springs quickly changed, and left.
Giggling at their triumphant conquering of the springs, the girls stripped, and settled into the water.
"You are so funny, Starlett-chan!" Chybee giggled.
"I know, how did you do that?" Kitgirl asked. "You sounded just like Jupiter when he's angry."
"Years of practice, and a little vocal manipulation. It goes a long way, you know?"
The others giggled again in response. "You did put up the barrier, didn't you?" Kristina asked.
"Yeah, I did. No need to worry."
"They'll probably wonder where we are," Firey said, "and when they go looking for us, they won't find us!"
The group quieted, and soaked all of the tension out of their muscles, while several confused men tried to get back to the springs.
