"Attention, everyone!!" Star called. Heads turned in her direction, as she stood on a raised platform. "I have the list... the list of tennants who will inhabit this castle with me." many nervous whispers reached her ears, as she opened the first envelope. The envelope that contained the list of nine girls who would, along with herself, be living in the biggest wing of the palace.
Star tore the envelope open. There were several folded peices of paper inside. She drew one out.
"Lady Chybee," Star read. She drew another.
"Lady Kitgirl," Star read, and drew another paper.
"Lady Kiki,"
"Lady Sora,"
"Lady Firey,"
"Lady Kristina,"
"Lady Kim,"
"Lady Ash,"
"Lady Maria,"
"And, finally, myself."
There was scattered, light applause. Star was handed the second envelope. She drew a deep breath, as she tore the second envelope open.
[should I end the chapter here? make it a short one? hmmm... sounds tempting.... *visualizes bloody coarpse writhing in front of computer* eeeeew... *cringes* you guys would maim, maul, and or kill me, wouldn't you? *sigh* guess I have to continue.]

"And, Lord Rage,"

The chosen nineteen tenants stood in the now deserted main hall.
"Each of you will be shown to your rooms. There is a full wardorbe waiting for you in each specific room. Every room has a study, bathroom, and bedroom. There are balconies in each bedroom. They have been decorated to your tastes, and the clothes made to fit you perfectly." Star smiled, "Dinner is at seven, and breakfast is at eight tomorrow. Lunch will be served at noon every day."
A servant approached each tennant, to lead them to their designated rooms.
*~*~*~*With Star*~*~*~*
Star flopped down on her bed, and, without a second thought, fell into a peaceful slumber.
*~*
Star was walking through her gardens, when suddenly a man appeared as if from nowhere. She couldn't see his face, but she knew that she'd seen him before.
"What are you doing here, honey?"
'He just called me honey... wait! That's.... no, it couldn't be.... could it?'
"Inu-sama?"
"Hai?"
"Inu!!" she flung herself at him, and he awaited her with open arms. She cried with all her soul.
"Shhhhh, Starlett-chan. Inu's here now. Don't cry."
"B-but Inu, where have you been all these years? I waited, but you never returned with him... I thought that you'd died," she choked into his shirt, as he stroked her hair affectionately.
"I didn't return with my son because I had more things that needed to be resolved before I could return here," he reassured her.
Inu began to fade, until Star's arms clasped only air.
*~*
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Star screamed, while her mind screamed {Inu! Come back to me! You can't leave me again! You just can't!}
A silver blur flashed through the halls, and, within a millisecond, Sesshoumaru was in Star's room. He held her, as she rocked herself, softly whispering about Inu.
"He died, Star. He's not coming back. Star, he died." Sesshoumaru tried to bring the distraught girl back to reality.
"No..." she breathed, "he didn't die.... did he?"
"Yes, Star. Listen to me. He died many, many years ago. He cannot come back. You must understand this. He's gone forever, Star. Forever doesn't end."
"Bring him back, Sess-chan, bring him back..." Star sobbed, her face buried in his shoulder.
"Sesshoumaru?"
Chybee stood in the doorway, concern and confusion etched across her features.
"Chybee," Sesshoumaru said, "she believes that my father will come back for her. He promised to take her away from her life as a princess when he returned from a battle... but he never returned from that battle. She doesn't know how to cope with the fact that her savior has fallen, and is not coming for her... in all of the years that I have known Star, I have been the only person who could get her to return to reality."
"So, she's depressed?" Chybee was lost.
"Not quite. She cannot forget the promise that my father made to her all those years ago, and it haunts her. She almost stopped him from going into that battle, but they both thought that his going was for the best. So he went. She simply cannot forgive herself for letting him head off to his doom."
"Inu-sama..."
"Inu-sama is not here. It is Sess-chan."
"Sess-chan, when is Inu-sama coming back?"
"Never. Inu-sama has passed into the spirit world."
"He did? That's not fair. He should have asked my permission first." Star's face contorted into a frown.
Sesshoumaru laughed lightly. "Where he went he didn't need your permission, Starlett-chan."
"Inu-sama..." Star sighed, "Sess-chan, why did he leave us?"
"He needed to pass on, and leave his pain behind. He was suffering. But, now he suffers no more."
"Oh," Star sighed, "Where is Inuyasha-chan?"
Sesshoumaru tightened his grip on her. "He is on Earth. In Japan. Searching for jewel fragments with a human girl."
"Oh. Could he come visit me? I miss him. Bring him to me, Sess-chan. I want to see him. Bring the human girl with him, I would like to meet her. What is the human's name?"
"Kagome Higurashi,"
"What?" Star jolted awake, "Higurashi?"
"Yes, why?"
"She is the most skilled miko healer who ever existed. She also lives in one of the few shrines that worship me, and not my father."
"I see,"
"But... She lives several hundred years ahead of Inuyasha-chan. How is it that she is with him?"
"I do not know. You should ask her."
"I am the only one who is able to manipulate time. She isn't that powerful, is she?"
"I do not know. But you should be getting to sleep."
"Okay," she smiled, "Goodnight, Sess-chan, and thank you. For, once again, saving me from the same fate as my aunt."
"It's no burden on me. You're like a sister to me, Starlett-chan. I love you as such." He gave her a light hug, and kissed her on the forehead. Like a loving brother. "Now, sleep."
