Chapter 3
The More things Change the More they Stay the Same.


Kagome looked up once more to the clock. Tear’nie was still in labor five hours to be exact, and Hiei much to his dismay was still stuck with her, in a rather uncomfortable position I might add. With Inuyasha’s newest threat upon his life he had finally lost track of them all, he had decided at one point that he did Not want to be present for the birthing of the babe so had made to make a final escape attempt from her. Unfortunately he found just as he made to jump from her hold just how strong birthing mothers where for this time no claws where instantly imbedded into his stomach instead he was jerked down to lay flat on his side caught totally off guard by the unexpected move he had no time to counter as her fangs where then suddenly deeply imbedded into his unprotected neck. Both he and Inuyasha had been in shock however their shocks differed one being that of a pissed possessive shock(Inuyasha) and the other being just plain pure shock(Hiei). Hiei hadn’t exactly found himself in pain per say, and one would think that with having fangs buried in ones neck would be painful however he couldn’t bring himself to feel pain as he slowly lost consciousness from blood loss he daren’t describe what he felt.
After Inuyasha’s outraged cry a few hours ago most of everything was silent they only learned what happened to Hiei threw a passing nurse as she left the operating room. Kagome was currently leaning against Sesshoumaru who held a sleeping Haru in one arm while he talked to Jaken on the phone while he currently played personal assistant him while they all waited for the baby to be born. Kagome closed her eyes as she listened to him she really did love his voice. She thought to herself. Shippo, Rin and Kyo had gone with Miroku to get some ice cream and something to eat but a little while ago and Kagome found herself relaxing a little exhaustion taking a tole on her. No sooner did her eyes begin to close than did the waiting room doors snap open, and with that she was wide awake and worried once more.
“Sir of you will please wait here we will contact you when your wife is ready to give birth.” and with that Inuyasha was literally shoved into the rather meek looking waiting room and the doors snapped closed and what sounded like a lock clicking before the nurses foot steps retreated. Kagome stared at Inuyasha as he started pacing swearing up a storm with a concerned and angry look in his eye. She apparently wasn’t the only one waiting for him to speak as Sango finally got impatient with him and demanded.
“Well what’s taking so long?!” It was common knowledge that labors could take minutes to even days for certain humans for demons however or anything with inhuman blood labors rarely lasted over an hour the baby just slipped out easy and quick not long after the water broke. Inuyasha stopped pacing and stomped to the seat next to Kagome and sat down head in his hands.
“That basterds demon blood is doing something to her, I had to unbind her to help cope with the effects but.. Some things happening to the baby. They... they say one of em’ might not make it threw.” Gasps where heard threw out the room.
“In anything happens to them I’ll kill that short bastard with my bare hands!” Inuyasha threatened every now and then looking up to the locked doors just in case they might have opened and he not heard it.
Kurama continued to throw subtle glances at her she was more beautiful than he remembered. ‘So she wasn’t married to Inuyasha did that mean Inuyasha had three kids? Was the one Sesshoumaru now held one of them? Was Sesshoumaru even married? Damn!’ he thought ‘Why the hell couldn’t Kuwabara remember anything right?’ He was broken form his thoughts as he felt a tug upon his pant leg he looked down only to go into a temporary shock.
“Hello my names Shippo what’s yours? This is my sister Rin. She’s really shy, and this is my cousin Kyo he wants to be just like his daddy.” Kurama slowly came back to himself for a second there he thought he was looking at a slightly altered version of his younger self.
“I’m Kurama. How are you Shippo, Rin, Kyo?” Shippo grinned adorably his green eyes dancing with misjift.
“We’re good we got to have ice cream and I got five scoops.”
“Nu-uh. You only got two scoops I saw.”
“Shut up Kyo.” Kyo looked mad then
“No worries mister Shippo makes stuff up all the time. Why do you have red hair? Are you trying to copy Shippo? Daddy I’d say that were Fucking stupid.” Kurama smiled at the innocents of the group. His attention was soon caught again by Shippo who absolutely loved to be the center of attention.
“Of course he wants to be like me I’m the bestest. So do you like to fight? Do you have any special attacks? Mommy says it’s bad to fight but lets me train with Daddy and Uncle Inu.”
“Oh so you want to be a fighter when you grow up?”
“Naw I just wanna have fun and eat sweets with my mommy.”
“So where are your parents little one?” Shippo looked over to Sesshoumaru and pointed to him.
“There’s my daddy with my little brother Haru. And see Uncle Inu? My mommy’s right there patting his head.” Kurama looked up and froze upon seeing the person Shippo was currently pointing to. It was Kagome.
However Shippo didn’t look like Sesshoumaru in fact Shippo smelled like... he smelled like..a kitsue. Was- was Shippo his child?! But why hadn’t Kagome told him he had a son? Why then did she marry Sesshoumaru?! Kurama quickly turned his thoughts back to Shippo as the child stared at him completely oblivious to his inner turmoil. If Shippo was his son he’d have to be about five or six years old by now.
“So Shippo how old are you?” Shippo smiled at him.
“I’ll be six in December and mommy said she’ll get me this much candy.” The little boy stretched out his arms as far as they could go. Seemingly not noticing that his other companions had abandoned him to return to their parents.
“All’s I gotta do is not eat it all at once.” Kurama smiled encouragingly at the boy all the while his mind raced with the days months and times to match them up to be sure. It all fit everything, Shippo was his son! Kurama was quickly thrown out of his thoughts as the waiting room doors unlocked and opened.
Inuyasha was the first one asa matter of fact he was in front of the doors so fast that his momentum sent a nonexistence wind whipping past them all.
“What Happened?! Is She Ok? How’s The Baby?” Inuyasha all but yelled at the poor nurse who in turn waited for him to silence he complied quickly.
“Everything had gone well.” Inuyasha relaxed so quickly he was almost a puddle upon the floor.
“However” Once more Inuyasha was stiff as a board.”The blood she received from the other demon was rejected from her body due to her pregnancy theoretically speaking had she had a wound it might have escaped that way. Apparently with no other outlet the blood transferred itself over to the baby.” Inuyasha was still for but a moment to be sure she had nothing other to add.
“So what are you trying to say? My wife and baby are ok right.” It was no question instead rather more of a demand.
“Yes they are bother fine-“
“I want to see them.”
“But I-“ Inuyasha ignored her as he made his way towards Tear’nie’s room.[at the end of this story you can read what happened when Inuyasha found Tear’nie or not]

Kagome followed Sesshoumaru Haru in his arm ‘They looked so cute together!’ she thought to herself.
“Kagome!...Kagome wait!” Kagome stopped and looked about to the voice that called her until she spotted him and almost laughed out loud. There Kurama stood at the entrance of the hospital a hoard of nurses surrounding him as he tried to politely extricate himself from the mass. Another added bonus for Sesshoumaru having a wife and three kids it kept almost all the rift raft away (the others he was content to personally destroy). Finally Kurama managed to free himself from the hoard and made his way to his love. After sending a murderous look to Sesshoumaru’s back as he got into the car and Kagome assured him that everything was ok.
Finally in front in her Kurama paused, he had dreamed of this moment (Ok so maybe she didn’t have children and was husband less but he dreamed none the less.) And now that it was finally here what was he suppose to say?
‘Hi, how have you been? I have dreamed of this moment for the past five years and have not been with another girl since you left me. Lets get married!’ Some how he got the impression that wouldn’t sweep her off her feet.
“Hi Shuichi how are you? How have you been? You look...different since I last saw you.” Kurama smiled still same old Kagome gods he’d missed her how to explain to her the change? Ah yes.
‘Youko Kurama finally merged with me and somewhat altered the way I look...Youko was the fox spirit that inhabited this body with me... Yes he’s why I wasn’t or rather why I’m not entirely human... Yes I’m feeling well...no I don’t have a history of mental illness why?’ Yes that would be a wonderful way to start of a relationship.
“I’ve been good, I’m doing good. I’ve made a few changes in my life but nothing to drastic(sorta.) So married now? How’s the married life treating you?”
“It’s been really good Sesshoumaru’s been really sweet to me, and we had Haru almost three years ago. So how about you? Have you settled down yet, or met the right girl?..Oh! I almost forgot how’s the new job Yusuke was saying something about your boss killing you... Why where you at Inuyasha’s house?” Kurama tried to think and outside he was the epiphany of calm inside was another matter entirely.
“Well to tell you the truth I had heard that you and Inuyasha where in the area and I really wanted to see you. I..wanted to apologize about what happened... You left school before I could. I’m sorry for hurting you I don’t really remember what happened and what I do I couldn’t control.” Kagome smiled comfortingly well aware that Sesshoumaru and the kids where waiting in the car or rather limo (it had been the only one available when she had heard the news about Tear’nie.
“It’s ok Shuichi it not your fault, friends?” She held out her hand to him it was so frail and delicate but beautiful in its own creation. He grabbed it and shook.
“You also don’t have to worry about my job I’ll be forgiven eventually. I really haven’t dated much you really where the last. However I have found a girl I intend to marry and have by my side forever.”
“Oh really? Do I know her? It is a her right?” She winked at him as his expression turned positively flabbergasted.
“Just kidding and you used to take joke so well what happened Shuichi?” She laughed as he recovered from her little joke about his masculinity.
“I’ll have you know I have a great sense of humor just not when it’s directed towards my love life. By the way are you sure you didn’t marry a girl?” Kurama asked quietly a growl suddenly coming out of no where.
“Quite he might look feminine up top but down below he’s well endowed.” Kagome laughed again as the growling suddenly stopped she didn’t even notice as Kurama returned to scowling at the open limo door and into the inky blackness that composed the inside.
“Kagome” Kagome stopped laughing to look at him once more.
“Yes?”
“Well could you call me Kurama my name has sort of changed among my friends.”
“Oh so your Kurama.”
“What?”
“Well remember when we where dating?”
‘How could I forget?’
“Yes?”
“Well I would continually hear Yusuke and Kuwabara refer to someone named Kurama and anytime I asked about it they would change the subject.”
“Yes that was m–“
“Kagome.” Came a silkenly cold voice Kagome’s head turned to the limo then back to Kurama.
“Well it was nice seeing you again.. Kurama” With that she started to walk way.
“Wait Kagome? Are you this Thursday?” She turned back to him his head bent just enough for his bangs to cover his eyes.
“Do you-? Will you come and have coffee with me so we can-can talk about old times?” He waited his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. “She wouldn’t say no would she?’
Kagome looked back at Sesshoumaru. He signed but nodded his head in approval.
“Ok then Kurama you have yourself a date. See you Thursday.” With that she walked the rest of the distance to the limo only to have Sesshoumaru gently pull her in and shut the door. No sooner did they drive away than did Kurama’s brain fully register her answer.
“Wait!” He called after her already knowing she probably wouldn’t hear him. ‘How will we meet?’
“I”LL KILL THAT SCRAWNY LITTLE BASTARD!!!” Just then Kurama spotted Hiei in a tree staring up at one of the hospitals open windows. Kurama walked over.
“Hn.” Kurama looked Hiei over he looked positively disheveled.
“Your looking well Hiei, and I’m guess you have finally managed to get out of Tear’nie’s hold ok. Might I inquire about Inuyasha’s yell?”
“Shut it fox.”
“Umhm. Well I’m guessing you’ll be wanting to leave the premisses as soon as possible care to join me?”
“Hn.” and with that he was gone most likely to find Boton to get a portal to Makai so he could go kill something. Kurama signed.
‘ Now how was he suppose to find is love? Kuwabara?...(Image replaying in his head of last incident of breaking into Inuyasha’s house thinking he mated Kagome.) No, no definitely not. Hiei?
*Don’t even think about it fox. I’m not tracking down a human mortal much less a female one.* Then again maybe not Yusuke? (Image of Yusuke “How the hell should I know where she lives?!”) Then again he wouldn’t be the best person to ask either. Inuyasha? ( A mental reminder of how possessive Inuyasha was with all his friends.) Sango?(Image of Sango with a back aura surrounding her fire in her eyes holding up a butcher knife ‘You want to know what about Kagome?!’)(Really happened when he first asked Kagome out!) Miroku? (Image of Miroku another black aura standing in a circle praying and then of him and ‘It’ falling off.) Kurama unconsciously sild his hands down to protect his genitals.
‘Who to ask? Who to ask?’...Sesshoumaru was the richest and most handsome family man in Japan. Where to look? Tabloids?’ Kurama looked across the street seeing a magazine in a machine main title being. “Wealthy New Business Man Saves The World By Popping Pimple!” Mental sweat drop on second thought the internet has everything about everybody or the phone book.’ Kurama thought at last heading for the nearest library never noticing the blood red eyes that where following his every move.

And now for those of you that want to read what happened with Tear’nie and Inuyasha here you are.

Upon seeing Tear’nie leaning up against the pillows a bundle cradled in her arms and no Hiei Inuyasha smiled and let out a breath he hadn’t known he had been holding as he walked over to her. The bundle in her arms wiggled around a bit. It smelled like him he smiled. Tear’nie in turned frowned at him she had wanted a girl the simple fact it smelled like him meant it was another boy.
“Don’t worry angel we can try again.” He said his smile widening
“I want to call him Yuki.” Still grinning he gently grabbed the bundle from her arms. He moved the blanket from the pups face and froze, grayish black hair met his eyes with golden scarlet colored eyes. His boy looked like him, his angel and that little bastard! Stiffly he handed the baby back.
“What’s wrong Inu-chan? We can try again.” It was Tear’nie’s turn to smirk and she did and smiled to as Inuyasha stomped off but gently shut the door so as not to upset the baby.
He walked down the hall way for a little ways to the elevator down to the lobby and finally.
“I”LL KILL THAT SCRAWNY LITTLE BASTARD!” and with that said he went to make good on that promise however half way threw the lobby he saw Kyo.
“Daddy.” Came his innocent voice as he lifted his arms up Inuyasha signed as he felt the anger rush out of him. He walked over to Kyo and picked him up and hoisted him up on to his shoulders.
‘Oh well I’ll kill him later. Besides now..’ Inuyasha smirked almost evilly. ‘I get to look forward to next time.’
