Chapter 12 : A Promise Kept

Disclaimer: I do not own IY or YYHS, but I do own everybody I created, like Mya.

----------------------------------At the Bone Eaters Well----------------------------------

(BueFlame: This is taking place at the same time as in the future. i.e. when Kagome meets everyone and all that jazz) Sesshomaru turned to leave as he felt the powerful magic of the well dissipate. `I believe I must now carry out my responsibilities as a host. I must first get Inuyasha to agree to stay at my castle along with his friends as Mya made me promise I do. If that half-breed doesn't comply then I'll just have to make him do so forcefully, and I wouldn't be breaking my `promise' to Kagome of not killing the little whelp…yes I think that will do' he though as he headed toward the inu-tachi.

The forest seemed to part ways for him to get to his destination. It seemed that even nature was mesmerized by the very powerful and beautiful taiyoukai. He reached Kaede's Village with ease and was meet by Kaede herself.

“What do ye want Sesshomaru-sama?” asked the old miko.

`It would seem that not all of Inuyasha's allies are stupid' He looked at the old miko indifferently and said, “I have come to invite Inuyasha and his allies to go and stay at my castle in the west.”

“Is that so? And how would we know that ye aren't going to kill them all when they are in your care?” she asked.

“I gave Kagome my word that I would not kill her friends,” he replied. `She's indeed smart for an old woman…she protects Inuyasha and the others, heh'

“Very well, I shall convey your message to Inuyasha and the others and have them at your castle by tonight,” said Kaede.

“Hm,” he then left to his castle to await the inu-tachi.

“I wonder why Sesshomaru wants them to stay at his castle?” wondered the old miko out loud. “I should head inside now and tell the others,” and so she headed back to her hut where the others were.

---------------------------------------AT KAEDE'S HUT-------------------------------------

“Why did we come back to the village?” asked Shippo.

“Because we cannot continue without Lady Kagome's help,” answered the monk.

“That's right,” added the taijai(sp?).

“Keh! We could have found the jewel shards Naraku hid just before we killed him without Kagome,” said Inuyasha gruffly.

“Inuyasha, you better than anyone know that ye cannot find the jewel shards without Kagome,” interrupted Kaede.

“Who asked you, old hag?” he replied angrily.

“Hey, don't be mean to Kaede-baba Inuyasha! Or I'll tell!” cried Shippo.

“Feh. Oh yeah, well, who are you gonna tell? That perverted monk over there?” said Inuyasha pointing at Miroku.

“No! Kagome of course,” cried Shippo.

“Heh. Like she could do anything to me,” he replied huffily. `Damn, that little…if he tells Kagome I'm gonna die'

“She can sit you all the way to the other side of the world, is what she can do!” countered Shippo.

“Grrrr…why you little!” roared Inuyasha leaning over and bonking Shippo in the head repeatedly.

“Whaaaaa!” cried Shippo.

“Inuyasha! That's enough! Don't you dare hurt Shippo again!” said Sango angrily while taking Shippo away from where he was on the floor to her lap.

“Settle down. Now why are ye all back?” interrupted Kaede from the doorway of the hut where she had stayed since she arrived.

“Oh, Kaede-sama, gomen,” said Sango looking away from Inuyasha and at the old miko instead.

“We decided that it would be better if we returned to the village now that Lady Kagome has decided to leave to her era for a week,” said Miroku.

“I see,” she replied, “but ye shall not be staying here.”

“Huh? Why not Kaede-baba?” asked Shippo from where he was situated on Sango's lap.

“You shall be staying at Sesshomaru-sama's castle,” answered Kaede.

“What?!” cried everyone in surprise.

“As you heard. Lord Sesshomaru has invited you all to stay at his castle in the west,” said Kaede finally entering the hut and sitting down on one of the futons on the floor.

“What?!” cried Inuyasha again. “You expect us to believe that my brother Sesshomaru, that cold blooded murderer, actually invited us to go and stay athis castle?”

“Yes, it is rather unbelievable,” said Miroku.

“Could it be a trap?” asked Sango aloud.

“It probably is,” Shippo said.

“I believe it is not,” said Kaede, “he gave Kagome his word that he would not harm any of you.”

“And you believed him,” countered Inuyasha, “just like that?”

“I believe Lord Sesshomaru is one to go back on his word,” she replied calmly. “Especially since he regards Kagome very highly, and will not wish to harm her by harming one of you-her dearest friends.”

“That is true,” agreed Miroku.

“Yes, now that I remember…Kagome's behavior toward Sesshomaru was not hatred or fear, but something more like friendliness,” said Sango recalling the incident at the hot springs.

“Yeah,” agreed Shippo.

“Feh. As if Sesshomaru would like Kagome as a friend,” said Inuyasha angrily, “she's human.”

“Inuyasha how could you say that about Kagome?!” shouted Sango angrily.

“She is a very powerful human,” said Kaede. “Besides I'm sure she wanted you to go to Sesshomaru's castle, and that is why she made Sesshomaru promise not to kill you.”

“We shall head to Sesshomaru's castle right away,” said Miroku.

“Hey just w-” stated Inuyasha.

“Yes,” interrupted Sango.

“If okaa-san wanted us to go then we should go,” added Shippo.

“Good, I hope you have a safe journey,” said Kaede as they started to get up and leave. “You'd better go if you don't to get left behind Inuyasha.”

“Keh! Shut up ya old hag! I'm going!” he responded angrily.

---------------------------------AT SESSHOMARU'S CASTLE-------------------------------

“My Lord, your back,” said Rin with a cry of joy.

“Hm,” was the reply.

“Would you like me to tell the maids to prepare your bath, me lord?” asked Jaken.

“That and four rooms in my wing for my guests,” said the mighty taiyoukai.

“Guests, me lord?” asked Jaken.

“Guest?! We're gonna have guests? What kind of guests? Are they mean? Are they demons or humans? Are they nice? Do I know them? Is it Lady Mya? Who are they m'lord?” asked Rin all in one breathe.

“Rin! Do not bother Lord Sesshomaru with such bothersome questions!” Jaken screamed at Rin.

“I'm sorry m'lord,” cried Rin hurriedly, thinking that she had done something bad.

“Be quiet Jaken,” said the mighty taiyoukai. “Do not ask so many questions at once, Rin,” he added looking at the young girl.

“Hai,” she responded happily looking up at him.

“My guests are Inuyasha and his companions,” he said looking as bored as ever.

“What?! You are going to have that filthy half-breed and his filthy ningen companions stay here at your castle, Lord Sesshomaru!” cried the small green ugly toad demon known as Jaken.

Sesshomaru gave Jaken a cold stare and said, “Do not bother me with such stupid questions Jaken! And you would do well to remember that.”

“Y-yes, m'lord!” Jaken hastily replied. `But why would Lord Sesshomaru want his filthy half brother to stay at his castle?! It does not make sense….unless…..it's a trap, yes a trap! That must be it, oh m'lord is truly a geniuos!' he thought.

“What are you still doing here Jaken? Do as you were told,” Sesshomaru said coldly.

“Yes, right away m'lord!” cried Jaken practically tripping because he was trying to run as fast as he could to do what Sesshomaru had ordered him to do.

“Sesshomaru-sama?” asked Rin quietly.

“Hn,” he replied letting her know he was listening.

“When will your guests arrive?” she asked curiously.

“Later today,” he replied calmly.

“Okay,” she said happily.

------------------------------------LATER THAT NIGHT-------------------------------------

“Jaken. Has everything I asked for been prepared?” asked Sesshomaru.

“Hai, Sesshomaru-sama,” replied the toad youkai.

“I see you came through, nii-san,” said a voice from above.

“…” Sesshomaru didn't reply, but he looked up at the cloaked figure above him.

`What is she doing here? Did she ask Lord Sesshomaru to invite that filthy half-breed and his companions here?' thought Jaken.

“I just came by to check that you had,” the cloaked figure replied taking the hood off and revealing Mya underneath.

“I'm glad you did invite Inuyasha and his companions to stay after all- just like I asked you to, nii-san,” she stated coolly.

“Hai,” was all Sesshomaru said.

“Geez, Sesshy-kun, you should really try showing a bit more emotion,” she reprimanded.

“Hn,” was his reply. Mya sighed knowing that the day her older brother showed his true emotions all of the time, just like every other person, would be the day the world ends.

“S-so then it was you that asked m'lord to ask that filthy half-breed and his ningen companions to come to his castle?” asked Jaken.

“Grrrr, watch your mouth you filthy toad! You're not worth even half of what Inuyasha is worth!!” said Mya venomously sending a deadly glare Jaken's way.

“Sumimasen!! Please don't kill me!!” cried Jaken going on his knees and bowing down to Mya repeatedly.

“You'd better be sorry,” replied Mya. Then taking her eyes off of Jaken she turned to Sesshomaru, who hadn't said anything throughout the whole little episode.

“Well, I should get going…I just came to check on you,” she said putting the hood back on. “I'll make sure to send someone to retrieve you all in a few days.”

“Retrieve?”

“Yes, I'm going to send someone- probably Botan- to come and get you, so that we can all meet.”

“Very well.”

“Alright then, bye Sesshy-kun, say bye to Rin for me.”

“…”

With a swish of her cloak she was gone, and a black rose stood directly under where she had been floating.
