Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Haunted Past ❯ K-K-Kaa-san?! ( Chapter 2 )
Koenm a, in his teenage form, grumbled as he walked up the steps.
"Baka Yusuke…baka, baka, baka!" He growled low in his throat as he neared the torii. "Why is it I'm finding I must do everything on my own now?" he cursed silently. Plastering on a smile he headed towards the door to the house on the shrine grounds.
He knocked gently.
"Hello?" questioned a petite woman with black hair in a bun. Koenma's eyes widened a fraction of an inch.
"K-K-Kaa-san?!" he breathed. The overload of images and emotions proved too much a second later as Koenma promptly fainted. The woman placed a hand to her mouth in slight shock.
"Oh my…" she slowly pulled the boy inside.
"Nothing Kagome dear," replied Kagome's mother.
"But I clearly-"
"It is nothing…you best not make Inuyasha wait any longer dear."
"Hai…hai…" Kagome headed out towards the door when she heard a slight moan. "Mama?"
"It's nothing!" Kagome frowned. Her mother usually wasn't so forceful….Deciding against her better judgment she stepped inside the living and saw a brown haired boy who looked about twenty-five with the letters 'JR' stamped on his forehead laying on their couch. "N-N-Nani?!" she breathed.
Mrs. Higurashi turned to stare at her daughter.
"Kagome…" Kagome dropped her bag and rushed towards the boy's side.
"Mama, is this really…?"
"I don't know, Kagome," Mrs. Higurashi replied. They boy's eyes snapped open. He placed a hand to his forehead and groaned.
"Damn days of all days," he muttered. He looked around the room and frowned. His eyes landed on Kagome and his frown deepened. Then they landed on Mrs. Higurashi and his frown turned into a scowl.
"Excuse me," said Mrs. Higurashi, "but who are you?"
"Gomen, madam," the boy said, "I don't mean to intrude. I am here strictly on business. My office has sensed a strange aura coming from this shrine and I was sent to investigate. Care to enlighten me?"
"Ah, well there's nothing to tell," said Mrs. Higurashi. The boy frowned. He could obviously tell she was lying.
"I don't like to be lied to, madam, and I can tell you I'm not a pleasant man when tested." Silence reigned over the group. Silence broken by a harsh cry.
"Oi wench, what's taking you so long?!"
"Inuyasha osuwari!" cried Kagome. A loud crash met there ears.
"Nothing to tell?" the boy asked with a raised eyebrow. Kagome grinned sheepishly.
"Eh heh heh heh…."
"Come into the kitchen, we'll talk over some hot koucha," said Mrs. Higurashi slowly.
"Hai…" Kagome said sheepishly. The boy shook his head.
"And now the precious jewel is shattered and you search to find the remnants of it whilst battling an evil hanyo that goes by the name Naraku. Amazing that you do all this yet keep up your grades Ms. Kagome." The girl blinked.
"How…?" she questioned. The boy faltered.
"Gomen if I insulted you because that isn't your name," he said softly, "you look like someone I once knew."
"Ah….Iie, my name is Kagome," she said. "But yes, you did get my story correct, except for one fact. I'm twenty-five; I've been out of school for a while now."
"You've been on this hunt for ten years?!" cried the boy. "Masaka!"
"It's true," said Mrs. Higurashi, stepping back into the kitchen with some more tea, "and my daughter has gotten stronger with the experiences."
"Ah. Well then, I guess I just have to report this back to tou-san, he'll want to know. Arigato for your time, madam, Ms. Kagome." They boy stood and started to leave.
"Chottomate kudasai!' cried Kagome.
"Hai?" the boy said, turning slightly.
"Shitsumon garimasu…eeto o-namae wa?"
"Koenma," the boy said, "Koenma Enma Diaoh." He turned and left.
The sound of glass shattering was the last thing he heard before the door shut.
"Masaka!" breathed Mrs. Higurashi. Kagome likewise was wide eyed.
"Kaa-san, do you really think…?"
"Hai, Kagome-mesume, hai. Koenma-musuko and Enma-shujin are alive. Kami-sama they're alive!"
Two cries of joyous laughter could be heard about the whole house.
"Kami-sama they're alive!!"
