HAHAHAHAHA! Man, I hadn't realized what a bitch of a cliffhanger that was!!! You poor people have suffered for so long… MWAHAHAHA!!!

Kurama smiled a charming smile. “Looks like the secret's out, doesn't it?”

Thing happened rather quickly. In an instant, Kurama was completely surrounded by some of the guards in the hall, all of them pointing nasty-looking weapons at him. Forest green eyes narrowed dangerously as he watched those around him.

“What is the meaning of this?” Kurama asked, his voice carrying easily to the far corners of the throne room. “I may not be what you thought I was, but I am still Lord Sesshoumaru's General and swore loyalty to him. This occurrence doesn't change that fact.”

The guards around him faltered, and were relieved when Sesshoumaru came walking towards them. Kurama eyed the inutaiyoukai a bit cautiously, not knowing how Sesshoumaru would react to all of this.

Sesshoumaru motioned the guards away and stood before Kurama. Raising his arm, he tilted Kurama's chin up and stared him in the eyes. The emerald pools of liquid intensity stared at him as they always had, proving that nothing really had changed. A smirk touched Sesshoumaru's lips as he spoke, “You remain my General regardless of the occurrence today. You shall remain such until such time as you decide to perish or lose at the hand of someone worthy or unworthy of the honor. However, this changes things. You will train with me every morning from now on at my level and we shall see how strong you are.

“You are all dismissed,” Sesshoumaru said as he lowered his arm, directing his voice at those in the room. “Except you, Kurama,” he added when the redhead began to pull away.

Kurama nodded his head and kept his eyes focused on Sesshoumaru's, the epitome of calm.

The room empty, Sesshoumaru spoke, “Why did you not inform me of this `condition' of yours?” His words were tensely terse.

For the first time, Kurama's eyes lowered. “I shall tell you the whole truth. I am not from this dimension. Before I was found by the slave-traders, I was transported by a strange glowing black ball of an enemy my comrades and I were fighting. I wanted to wait a while to escape the slave-traders, and pretend to be human. I was going to escape during the trip to your castle, but was not given the opportunity. I thought it best to not draw too much attention to myself while in a foreign dimension. That didn't work. However, I discovered a scroll in your library about this `shikon no tama' that could grant a person one wish. I wished to return to my home.”

Sesshoumaru's eyes had widened slightly during the explanation, although he tried to cover it up. “`Wished' to return?”

Kurama sighed gently. “I don't want to leave any more…” his voice trailed off before continuing very softly, “I don't want to leave you…”

Sesshoumaru's lack of response worried Kurama, but he didn't look up to see the stoic youkai's expression. Suddenly, to the shock of Kurama, he was embraced in Sesshoumaru's tight and unyielding arms.

“I am glad you decided to stay,” the demon whispered, showing uncharacteristic emotion.

Kurama smiled and hugged back gently.

oOo

Kurama sighed. Not only was Sesshoumaru working his ass off while practicing, he had also upped his amount of studying. There was absolutely NO time for anything else. Barely time to sleep, as it was…

Then there was the fact that war was approaching. Lord Nenki had officially declared it and was sending small armies to attack the boarder in random places. Sesshoumaru was constantly dealing with the paperwork of reports from both the border and his spies. It seemed that Naraku was adding his own forces to that of the Northern Lord, and the numbers did not bode well for the Western Lands. Even with the Eastern Lord Atakeru's assistance, they were hard pressed to win the war. Once Nenki gathered up his whole army and attacked all at once, Kurama wasn't sure if they would win.

Rubbing his temples, Kurama wondered what the HELL he was going to do. If he could get Hiei and Yusuke over into this dimension, then would actually stand a snowball's chance in hell. Yusuke had proved to be a very resilient snowball in the past.

Kurama wondered into the Training room to go through some of the katas Hiei had taught him a while back. His movements weren't perfect to the millimeter like Hiei's but they were pretty damn close. So focused was he in his exorcise that he failed to hear someone enter the room.

“Interesting style,” the silky smooth voice of Sesshoumaru resonated through the expanse of the room.

“A friend of mine, Hiei, taught me that a few years ago. He was the fastest demon around. Faster than you, in fact,” Kurama said with an amused smile.

Sesshoumaru smirked. “Is that so?”

“SESSHOUMARU-SAMA!!” Jakken yelled, running through the double doors and into the training facility. “LORD NENKI HAS ATTACKED THE BORDERS WITH MORE THAN THREE FOURTHS OF HIS ARMY!!”

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed as he turned to leave the room. Kurama followed after him at a jog, trying to keep up with the Lord's long strides.

Kurama's lips twitched. It was finally happening. He only hoped he lived long enough to see Sesshoumaru victorious.
