Review Responses

Sango132004: Um, well, sorry, I wrote it out first. I apologize. Anyway, you can still write a story like that, just don't have the same plot as I have planned. Not that I'm saying you would.

Elementfoxoffire: Dear partner, too bad this is my story and my story only!

Inu-hanyou2: The pairings are…a SECRET -laughs manically- I promise it won't be disappointing though.

For the other two reviewers that I had: I'm sorry that I couldn't put your names down because FF.net seemed to have erased your two review, but nonetheless thank you very much for reviewing this mediocre story.

Long Lost Brothers Ch 3: Getting Started

The sun's rays soon penetrated the dark night sky, creating a pink hue, signaling dawn. By this time only three individuals were up and awake, and all three were in Sesshoumaru's work room.

Inuyasha is sitting in a corner looking away from his two brothers, one unknown to him. Sesshoumaru is at his desk, and Youko is standing in the opposite corner of Inuyasha.

"The only thing I want from you two is to not hurt any of my friends or else I'll find some way to kill the both of you, you hear!" threatened Inuyasha harshly.

"We have no need to harm your companions," answered Youko.

"Your threat would not determine their safety. For even if I slaughtered them you do not have the strength to kill me," added Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha growled rather loudly, but both Youko and Sesshoumaru paid no heed to him. Instead, they told him to contribute some sort of battle strategy or idea that would help defeat Naraku.

So far, their plan for retrieving the Shikon Shards were to defeat Naraku then look for the rest of the shards. Without the powerful nemesis, their hunt will be much easier and relaxed.

"Bah! I give up," yelled Inuyasha after half an hour of thinking.

"People who are impatient often give up," remarked Sesshoumaru.

"WHAT!?" screamed Inuyasha, his hand finding its way towards the hilt of Tetsusaiga immediately.

"Enough," said Youko warningly to his two silver haired siblings.

Sesshoumaru took the command stoically and turned away to think. Inuyasha seemed to simmer a little, but left the room slamming the shoji door shut, walking outside to jump into a tree branch while unconsciously watching Kagome sleep through her open window.

"He has much to learn and I have much to teach as well as you, Sesshou," commented the King of Thieves when Inuyasha was out of ear shot.

"I will teach him many things if he is willing to accept them and cease his impolite behavior."

"His behavior will never change, you know that pretty well. You should be kinder to him in words; maybe then would he not hate you so much and actually learn from you, though you need to melt that ice in your heart first."

"I bear no ice upon me," defied Sesshoumaru stubbornly.

With that, the two remained silent until midmorning, where they decided that they need a rest from all the strategizing.

By then, everyone was wide awake, and down at the dining hall devouring their breakfast. The only people missing are the three demons.

Inuyasha hopped off his perch and decided to visit his half brother's work room again. Within a few large strides he was there.

"Well, have any of you figured something out," inquired the hanyou.

"Only how to find Naraku," answered Youko.

Inuyasha nodded then went to eat with everyone else. Moments later, Sesshoumaru and Youko joined the hungry party.

As soon as the food disappeared, Sesshoumaru announced that they will go in search of the evil hanyou the next day, and today would be a free day where they can roam the castle.

The crew was glad at the announced news, and set off in different directions happily. Sango went to the armory. Miroku roamed the library. Inuyasha bounded to the dojo. Kagome played in the gardens with Rin, and Shippou went with her. Youko, deciding not to bother Sesshoumaru, went to a secluded side of the tremendous garden to hone his magical and physical ability to further perfection.

"Shippou, can you get the ball over in the secluded part of the garden," asked Kagome warmly.

Shippou nodded enthusiastically then took off. Before, he could even go and look for the run away ball, his eyes landed on the fox demon.

Sweat drenched his face and toga while his eyes gleamed with determination to control the vicious plant that he had summoned. The plant was then dismissed with deadly grace and practiced ease.

"Wow," uttered Shippou in pure awe, "Even father couldn't do that. You are `the' Youko Kurama, right?" asked the little kitsune as he walked over towards Youko.

"Yes," he answered stoically, all the while wiping the sweat from his handsome face.

"Um, ah, could you teach me what you just did? I promise I'll train hard."

"No, plant wielding will come to you at a certain age. Mastering it takes time and patience. None in which I can help you with," answered Youko then turned away towards the castle.

Shippou nodded in understanding then proudly went to fetch the ball, knowing that he would be able to wield plant magic too.

Soon, everybody that was under Lord Sesshoumaru's protection found themselves seated in the dining hall eating a scrumptious dinner, excluding the servants.

Later that evening, the three demon brothers again, gathered in Sesshoumaru's office. Sesshoumaru gingerly walked to his desk, firmly sitting onto the smooth wood surface of his favorite chair. Yoko took a seat next to his younger brother, leaving Inuyasha the remaining seat on the windowsill. Sesshoumaru gave an inaudible sigh, trying hard to think of how they were to defeat Naraku. Inuyasha walked over to the other two, and looked at them expectedly.

"Ok, so do you two have any other ideas on defeating Naraku?" inquired Inuyasha curiously.

"It is disappointing, but we haven't thought of anything so far," Sesshoumaru replied.

"Well, that's just great. I thought you were supposed to be a strategist, Youko," Inuyasha said, anger dripping from his voice.

"I am, but this is still a matter of dealing with an extremely dangerous criminal. Though my strategies have never failed me before, I still have to consider all the options. This is a predicament that can not afford mistakes," Yoko said calmly.

Inuyasha nodded sullenly. "Yeah, but if we're going to hunt him down tomorrow, how the hell do you suppose we kill him? Are we going to let him tear us apart?"

"No, that will not happen. Youko and I will stay up all night if we must, but we will have a strategy formed by tomorrow morning. If you wish to, you may return to your quarters for some much needed rest. We will need you tomorrow, if all goes according to plan." Sesshoumaru replied, tiredness in his voice cleverly hidden.

"Fine, I guess I'll leave the thinking to you guys! I know your whole plan will revolve around me anyway, that is, since I have Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha breathed, his hand clenching the hilt of Tetsusaiga.

"Modesty will get you nowhere in life. We WILL need you, but who's to say YOU will be the base of OUR plan?" Youko snorted, temporarily losing his growing affection for his half-step-brother.

"I'm really starting to hate your attitude towards me fox boy!" barked Inuyasha.

"Well now…"

"Enough, the both of you sit down and calm yourselves," Sesshoumaru said, putting himself between the smirking Yoko and angry Inuyasha.

"Fine, but he started it," pouted Inuyasha, sitting on the windowsill.

"Right," Yoko retorted, his smirk growing wider as his affections returned.

"Do not provoke him," Sesshoumaru sighed.

Inuyasha soon left the room shortly after, returning to his quarters. Before arrival to his room, he went down the hall to Kagome's. He knocked on the smooth door, and was granted entrance. He went inside and sat on the window sill and told her of their predicament. She sighed unhappily, and waved Inuyasha goodbye as he left for his bed chamber

She was starting to think that they would never be able to confront Naraku and actually defeat the beast. She sighed again and turned in for sleep, Shippou curled next to her.

Back with Youko and Sesshoumaru, things were harder than originally hoped for. Sesshoumaru was taking a short rest to replenish his mind and Youko was sitting on the windowsill, staring aimlessly into space. His soft silvery hair fluttering into the cool night breeze as it made its way into the office. His gaze was transfixed on the swaying grass, making him suppress his need to run. He needed to think of a strategy, or he'd lose his chances of finding the Shikon Jewel fragment. His mind raced as his ears caught the sound of running water. He thought nothing of it, and continued back to his thinking. He then came upon the original idea for his quest of the jewel. His face saddened, and then dropped the thought, and made his way back to the problem at hand.

Sesshoumaru awoke to find his brother vigorously tapping a rose stem on his desk, his knee bouncing with anticipation and anger. His face showed no emotion, but his body language betrayed him as his brain worked at an inhumanly fast pace. His leg suddenly stopped bouncing, and his eyes gleamed brightly in the light. His lips twitched, as if trying to hold back a smile from forming on his handsome face. Sesshoumaru rose from his current position, grabbing Youko's attention. His face resorted back to its emotionless state it was previously in before his leg stopped bouncing. Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at him, but shook his head, and sat down in his chair.

"Anything as if yet?" inquired Sesshoumaru.

"No, nothing, I've been trying, but my mind seem to be punishing me at the moment," Youko replied.

"Then I guess I will give it a try once more. How long have I slept?"

"Judging by the moon's current position and the previous one at the beginning of your slumber, I would have to say an hour," Yoko stated flatly.

"Interesting…" came Sesshoumaru's velvety voice stoically.

"What is interesting?" inquired Yoko.

"Your ability to tell time by the moon's position, can you as well with the sun?"

"I believe so. Just an old trick I learned a while back."

"It is… quite impressive," Sesshoumaru said with a rare smile on his face.

"It comes in handy when need be," Yoko said, smiling back.

"Now comes the time where we must buckle down and think of our solution."

"Indeed."

AN: I apologize for the fairly short chapter and the lack of fluff. I had a bit of a writer's block, but no worries, I'm out of it and I promise a decent amount of words and an interesting chapter next time as well as some fluff.
