Chapter Six: We'll Always Be Together

Kagome was fatigued! Not to mention her legs were itching like crazy from her scabs. She was frustrated and tired, not a good combination. She just finally couldn't stand it anymore and sent a blast of miko energy into the forest. It always helped calm her a bit. She now felt better, and walked ahead of the two surprised and perplexed teens. When they reached the next village, many hours later, they plopped down at a diner for dinner. Yusuke had some fries and a burger, Fox had some salad, and Kagome-she had his favorite food: Ramen. *My mum bought me a whole box of Ramen today, and I was overjoyed!* They ate like they hadn't for years, but was actually like 12 hours ago. As Kagome was eating, she heard the door open behind her and a gasp. Then she heard a small voice say "Kagome Okaa-san?"

Kagome froze. `Kagome Okaa-san! B-but…the only one that ever called me that was-` Kagome felt the stinging in her eyes as she remembered her dream. She could feel Yusuke and Fox staring at her, mouths open. Kagome slowly turned around. There, in all his glory, was-a very familiar person. *Ha! Got ya there huh?* Orange hair, sharp canines, ponytail. Kagome gasped and sprung to her feet. "Sh-Shippo!" Kagome gasped.

"K-K-K-KAGOME!" he cried and ran into her arms. He could no longer jump into her arms seeing as how he was a few inches taller than her. "Is it really you Kagome?"

Kagome was overwhelmed. Here, in her very arms, was Shippo! "Yes," she whispered. Yusuke and Fox were-well, how would you feel if your new friend was in the arms of an attractive young man, about their age? Yusuke was jealousy, and Fox was-shocked, but felt the strange urge to laugh.

"Oh Kagome! I've missed you SO much!" Shippo cried. Then he remembered something. "Nee amata wo mitsuete soshite midoto wasurezu. donma mi mum ga itakutemo soba mi iru mo, zutto...zutto...zutto…" he whispered, tears stinging his eyes.

"What Shippo-Chan?" Kagome asked softly, stroking his hair like she used to.

"H-His last words were `If I find you, I won't lose you a second time. No matter the pain in my chest, I'll always be with you, always…always…always…' He told me to tell you. He said he was sorry," Shippo whispered softly, the tears leaking into her dark hair.

Kagome froze. `His last words? She doesn't mean-does he?' "Sh-Shippo…whose last words?"

"Do I really need to tell you, Okaa-san? You were his light. He was waiting you know, we all were. We'd sit together by the well, hoping, praying to Kami that you'd return. After you left, he became my Otou-san. You know who I mean," he said, voice quivering terribly. At least he was more controlled than when she last saw him. For her it had only been a couple of days, for him-500 years…Kagome buried her face in his chest. The reality of losing him too caused her heart to shatter, and her once sparkling blue eyes become a dull gray once again. The dullest they had ever been in fact. Kagome sobbed into Shippo's chest, her smaller frame shaking so violently, you were surprised she didn't just break.

"N-NO! Please…Shippo. Tell me it's not true. Please-"she cried, pounding her fists onto his chest. Shippo held her closer, trying to absorb some more pain into him, at least it would make some of her pain go away. Anything to make her heartache less.

Fox cautiously approached the two. She whispered something in Shippo's ear and he nodded. He carried Kagome's still shaking form outside, and Fox went to pay for their dinner. "What did you tell him?" Yusuke asked, feeling the jealousy inside him raging like a caged animal.

"I just told him to bring her outside and wait for us. You don't have to be so jealous!" Fox said, watching out of the corner of her eye as Yusuke blushed and opened his mouth to protest, but close it again as he just followed her out. Outside they saw Shippo holding onto Kagome who was still crying, but not as hard. She looked up as they approached and stood up. Shippo took her bag and Kagome tried to walk, but fell. Good thing Yusuke was there to catch her. He hoisted her onto his back and they set off again. They stopped at an inn, where Fox paid the clerk person $60 dollars and they got room 58.

Fox had once again passed out on one of the beds and Yusuke went to take a shower. "Okaa-san…" Shippo asked quietly.

"Yes son?" she replied.

"C-can I sleep with you again, like we used to?" he asked, finding his feet fascinating.

Kagome beamed and laughed a little, a few slivers of blue retuning. "Do you even have to ask Shippo-Chan?" she asked him.

He looked up at her and literally cried for joy. She hadn't changed a bit! And it had been so long since he had smelled her sweet scent that always put him into the sweetest sleeps. He scooped her up and hugged her. At that instant Yusuke came out, jealousy hitting him full force. (Poor Yusuke! He don't know bout their relationship! ^-^) "Yusuke?" Kagome asked him. He merely nodded. "Um-would it be okay if you slept with Fox tonight? I want to sleep with Shippo." (HAHAHA! (Anime crying style) Think of how that must sound!)

"WHAT!" he yelped.

"Don't worry! She's not taking up the whole bed this time," Kagome said, misunderstanding the yelp. Yusuke just stood there, his mouth open, then finally just nodded in defeat, clearly this guy had her heart. He got into bed with Fox, who was yet again mumbling about evil trees, ovens, and frying pans. (They're EVIL! O.O!) Kagome jumped into bed, and Shippo followed. Kagome wrapped her arms around him, like she used to do, and sung him a sweet lullaby, putting not only the kit to sleep, but also Yusuke.

"Kagome…Promise me that we'll always be together," Shippo asked.

"I promise," she said, and with that he fell asleep, with Kagome following not to long after.

~~~"KUSO! How could I have overslept?!" he screamed at himself. "ER! I HAVE to find them! But-there are WAY too many scents! WHY?!" He broke a stone in half with his frustration. He growled and broke a few more stones then slumped to the ground. "What is going on with me?" he asked himself. He slumped to the ground, tired and sad. He had been searching for so long, and he missed his friend. Why his friend left-he didn't know, but he was going to find out. In fact, he had orders to. "I swear I will find you," he whispered, before drifting off to sleep where he was. ~~~

A/N: Wow…sorry, that was shorter than usual. Ya think its okay that I brought Shippo back? And can you guess who the blur is? Now, don't get me wrong. It could even still be Inuyasha, or maybe someone else. Just GUESS! If no one guesses, I can't put up the next chapter! Oh, and don't forget to vote! Yusuke or Inuyasha?
