Inuyasha sniffed the air and he growled low. Sango was on her way back, but her scent was laced with a demon's. He pulled out his sword and shouted to the others to get ready. Kagome rushed out of Kaede's hut, followed by Miroku and Shippou. Kirara was already on her way to meet her mistress.

- Sango-chan!! yelled Kagome when she saw Sango come running towards them.

- Kagome-chan, I am fine.

- Y-your clothes, stammered Kagome and looked at the white tunica. - What happened?

- I will explain it as soon as we settle down, said Sango.

- Where is your mate Sango? asked Inuyasha bluntly.

Sango smacked his head and looked angrily at him.

- I was just getting to that you moron!!

- Sango!! gasped Kagome and now she saw the rose like mark on her friend's neck.

- [So much for breaking it to them gently.]growled Sango under her breath.

- Sango-sama, you have mated? Miroku's voice was hurt.

- Yes, I have mated.

- With a demon? he asked.

- Yes with a demon, his name is Kurama. He is waiting at the edge of the forest. I wanted to break it to you gently, but thanks to the rude person here it was spoiled, said Sango and glared dangerously at Inuyasha who gulped and took refuge behind Kagome.

- Sango-sama, I thought…. You had agreed to be my wife, said Miroku and now his voice had turned bitter.

- Yes, but clearly recalled that I wanted you to stop groping women and be faithful to me, but nooo, you didn't. So the deal is off houshi! Her dark eyes pierced his blue ones.

Miroku took her hands in his and really looked like the pious monk he always said he was.

- Hands off houshi, or I will personally see to that you never can touch a woman again! growled a deep voice from above.

Sango groaned and looked up, seeing a white haired figure descend from the sky.

- Everyone - meet Kurama, said Sango and waved towards the figure.

She let out a small sound when he encircled her waist and pulled her against his chest. She could feel the warmth of his bare skin against her back and she shivered lightly.

- A fox demon? Inuyasha's voice was taunting. - Hey Shippou, you got a friend of yours here.

- Kurama-kun, it is nice to meet you, said Kagome and stretched out her hand. - My name is Higurashi, Kagome.

- You are that girl, you went into the well house, stated Kurama and took her hand. - My name is Minamino, Shuichi, but everyone calls me Kurama.

- Glad to know your full name, snarled Sango and looked up over her shoulder, only to see a pair of glimmering eyes.

- Don't sweat it my mate, he purred and nuzzled her neck affectionate.

- You came through the well? asked Kagome curious and hid her smile when she saw Sango blush ten shades of red.

- Yes, I saw you went inside and I got curious, but your brother startled me and I fell into the well and I was transported here, where ever here might be. My guess is the Senko Jidai, am I correct.

Sango suddenly realized that her mate was talking much civilised, and it made her frown. She was getting more information about him than she had before their mating, talk about feeling a bit cheap.

Kurama noticed Sango's distress and he pulled her down to sit in his lap, making her blush even deeper. He nipped at her flesh, trying to calm her down.

During the next two hours they got to know each other a bit better and Inuyasha found the fox to be a good source. Kagome was surprised when Inuyasha asked Kurama to join their hunt for jewel shards. That was certainly not what she had expected, but at the same time she was happy. Kurama came from her time, she did not have to feel weird anymore, and when she talked about something modern, he could help her explain it. Yes, this turned out to be a good day to start a new friendship.
