Dear Journal,
Things have changed for me since I have gotten home. For my family I have only been away for two weeks. Imagine their surprise when they found out that it had been actually 500 years. I have lived to see the world grow and change. I still can remember back when I was just a normal girl, going to school, hanging out with my friends, and spending time listening to my grandpa talk about all the legends he knew. At the time I didn’t listen to him. I just thought he was a little crazy when it came to his so-called priceless artifacts.
I still remember the day my life changed from simple one to a dangerous and challenging one. All because of the Bone Eater’s Well, and the Shikon no Tama. Then again if I hadn’t fell through the well I would have never meet Inuyasha. At first he was death, then he was a friend, then my crush for a long time, and then my best friend and brother. I would have never meet my sister Sango, my other brothers Miroku and Sesshoumaru, as well as my pups Shippo and Rin. They became my family after awhile and I couldn’t imagine my life with out them. They were my home until the time came for me to see my family again. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
It was six months before the battle with Naraku that Inuyasha and I had discussed our relationship. We had both agreed with just staying friends. We both realized that it could never work out between the two of us for several different reasons. For him it was the fact that even though he had acknowledged that I was Kagome and was not Kikyou, I still looked like her and that would have been a little weird for him. I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t like to be in that situation. For me it was the fact that I would always feel like I didn’t know whom he was seeing. It was a relief for the both of us. I can still remember what he said to me that day. “Kagome your a very special person and you deserve someone who can give you all the love and happiness you deserve. But just because we aren’t going to be together doesn’t mean I’m going to allow you to be with the wimpy wolf. You deserve better then he can give you.” Oh boy did he keep that promise. Every time Kouga would come around after that he was always running away with bruises.
Around the same time Miroku and Sango had also voiced their feelings to each other. They had agreed to wait to get married until after Naraku was dead, but that didn’t stop them from having a physical relationship. Unfortunate for me, Miroku had read about condoms and birth control in my heath book from school. Then he asked me to buy him some so they didn’t have to worry about Sango getting pregnant. I was beet red by the time I walked out of the store that day. I hadn’t known how many they would need, and seeing as how Miroku was such a lecher, I figured they would need a lot. I ended up buying them a case of them. The old lady at the checkout counter had given me a disapproving stare that only added to my embarrassment.
Sesshoumaru, Rin, and Jaken had also joined our group around the same time. Shippo and Rin quickly became good friends, and played with each other all the time. Sesshoumaru turned out to be not so bad. At first it was hard to crack his shell, but I did it. Even though he didn’t speak to the group that much, there was many nights him and I would stay up until dawn just talking about our lives and things. He also had started to train me in how to use a sword. He even had Totosai make me one out of Inuyasha and his fangs. I named her Phoenix because when I would transform her there would be flames that seemed to dance around the blade, and had reminded me of a Phoenix. She is a beautiful blade. Not as big as Tetsusaiga in its transformed state, but still had just as strong attacks like it though. I was also trained in hand to hand fighting, and how to use my miko powers. For repayment for it all I re-grew his arm back. Much to my annoyance though the closer that we came to each other the more protective he was of me. Hell he turned out to me much worse then Inuyasha. The brothers seemed to come to an agreement to keep all males away from me. No one was worthy in their eyes. Hence why I am over 500 years old and still single. Though I never really meet anyone who interested me anyways.
I still remember the battle with Naraku. He had proved to be a challenging opponent, but had greatly underestimated us, which ultimately led to his downfall. Miroku, Sango, and Kouga battled against Kagura, Kanna, and Naraku’s army of demons. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru battled with Naraku. Jaken, Ah-Uh, and I were left to protect Rin and Shippo. Sometime during the battle Naraku had commanded Kohaku to take the children. I was busy fighting a horde of demons that he sent our way and couldn’t protect them. I remember wishing to my self that I wanted to protect them better. That was when it had happened. Somehow I was granted my wish. I am not sure what had granted the wish be it the Shikon no Tama or something else, but I was changed into a demoness. I was in turn able to saved the kids and finish off the horde of demons because of my amplified motherly instincts to protect my pups.
No one seemed to notice the change until Inuyasha yelled for me to shoot a purifying arrow at Naraku to finish him off. Fortunate for me the change that had accured provided a good distraction enough for Naraku to stand still while I shot at him. He was instantly purified and died. The face of my companions was priceless when then found out about my change. I so wished I had a camera that day. The pictures would have provided great entertainment to my family later on.
I had changed into an inu-demoness. My hair color changed to a midnight black, and grew to my knees. Blue and white strips also appeared to run through it. Dark blue strips appeared on my face and wrists. I also had a black tail with blue strips and a white tip, and a pair of black wings appeared on my back. I had claws and fangs as well. Much to my surprise though instead of my miko powers fighting my new demon blood, it seemed to embrace it and in turn amplified my powers ten-fold. I was beautiful before, but I was gorgeous now if I say so my self.
While everyone was still trying to figure out what had happened to me, I purified and fixed the Shikon no Tama, then handed it to Inuyasha. He just looked at me and smiled, shook his head no, and handed it back to me. I guessed that he finally had excepted who he was as a hanyou and embraced it. I was very proud of him that day and he earned an even bigger place in my heart.
Unfortunately that day was not all good. Kohaku was dead and not even Tensusaiga couldn’t bring him back. Sango was heartbroken, but knew that this was going to happen. At least she got to finally put him to rest. Then Kikyou showed up. I had started to cry when I thought that Inuyasha would follow her to hell. But he didn’t. He told her that he would rather stay with his new family and live. She was not all too happy about that, and attacked him. I ended up killing her. I was so afraid that he would hate me for that. He wasn’t though he was more grateful for setting her free and me getting back my soul. He still was sad that he had lost her twice in one lifetime. I couldn’t blame him.
We all made the long journey back to Keade’s for some much needed healing and rest.
After everyone healed we celebrated our victory. We had a long discussion with everyone, we all decided that we wanted to stay with each other. The only problem was that Sango, Miroku, and Rin were human. So it was decided we would wish for them to become demons. So after the celebration we decided to journey to Sesshoumaru’s castle were we would make the wish.
When I made the wish I met Midoriko. She asked me why I wanted them to become demons. I told her that we were now a family and didn’t want to lose anyone to old age. Also in return for the wish that we would do our best to protect humans and demons alike. She agreed that the wish was good enough, but that the Shikon would not disappear like we had thought. It would stay like it was and we were to protect it as well. I agreed and our wish was granted. Sango and Miroku became fox demons, and Rin turned in to an inu-demoness. No surprise there. What was surprising was that Inuyasha also turned into a full demon. Even though we hadn’t wished for it.
For the next 500 years we did exactly what we promised. We were known as Life's Protectors. Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha adopted Rin, Shippo, and I officially in the demon world, and we all became the heirs to the western lands. Each of us had a crescent moon on our foreheads. We all spent time learning our new demon abilities and trained in all fighting techniques. We traveled the world and built homes all over the place. They became safe houses for demons when the human population started to grow.
About 250 years after the battle with Naraku, King Yamma of the Spiritual Realm came to us for help to create a barrier so that demons could have their own realm and human could have theirs. We agreed and the barrier was created. Makai became the demon realm, and the humans had Ningenkai. We were assigned to protect the barrier from any one whom wished to destroy the human realm. And that is what is about it. Not much has happened that was too important to mention these last 500 years.
At least until it came time to see my family again. They were relieved that I was a live and surprised that I had waited 500 years to see them. It was agreed that I would go back to school to keep up appearances. One big advantage to my long life is that I finally mastered math. HaHa take that algebra.
So this is were it starts. My new life as the old human Kagome. Tomorrow I’ll be starting school at the one across town instead of my old one. I figured if I was going to start a new life I might as well start at a new school. Thankfully Rin and Shippo will be going with me. Oh did I not mention that Shippo and her grew up over the past 500 years were the rest of us stopped ageing. Even though it doesn’t matter, they will always be my little pups. Sesshoumaru is sending the limo over early to pick us up for school. (Yes we are rich beyond belief. What did you think that we wouldn’t be?) Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Rin live in a mansion not far from the shrine. Sango, Miroku, and their kids live next door to them. Shippo and I live here at the shrine. Well I guess I better end this entry. Have a big day tomorrow.
