Chapter 4: Dreaming On

Kagome and Botan stayed up for the rest of the night and watched movies. They watched `Monty Python's: The Holy Grail' they watched, `There's Something about Mary' and they watched, `Space Balls'. All together they shared lots of laughs.

Kagome wished Botan a good night and she went to the guest room the sleep. Her bed was a full bed with pink covers. Kagome's face turned at the color of the covers but she just got used to it after a while. I noticed I am becoming colder and meaner.*Sigh* I wish InuYasha hadn't killed them. I will kill him, and Kikyo, also Naraku. I'll have to so I can avenge Shippou, Sango, Miroku, and Kirara. Kagome changed into a black tank top to sleep in and a pair of black night shorts. She walked to her bed and her shoulder blades started to cramp. I should just get to bed and ignore it. Kagome winced when she slept on her back so she rolled over onto her stomach and slept with memories of her friends falling in little drops from her eyes.

****Kagome's Dream****

Kagome was in a very large field with one cherry tree in the middle of it. A woman with antique armor was sitting underneath it. Kagome walked up to the tree and she noticed the woman was holding a cherry tree blossom in her hand and was starring at it. The woman spoke, "What if your dreams and nightmares existed in the same place? What if to get something you had to lose everything? What if to get to heaven you had to brave hell? Would you still go there?" Kagome seamed confused but to her surprise the woman spoke more wise words, "One who gives a man a fish feeds him one meal. One who gives a man a fish, feeds him for the rest of his existence." Kagome sat next to the woman who let the breeze take away the blossom in the sky.

They both watched it until they couldn't see it. Kagome spoke this time, "Who are you?" Kagome asked.

The woman spoke again, "Midoriko. Kagome you are troubled. Consider how much more you often suffer from your anger and grief, than from those very things for which you are angry and grieved." Kagome sighed.

"I wish I knew what that meant. So you're Midoriko huh?" Kagome sighed again. "Tell me more, please." Midoriko smiled.

"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned." Midoriko smiled. "For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind." Kagome looked at Midoriko with seriousness.

"My mom used to tell me that, `He who angers you conquers you.'" Midoriko smiled at Kagome's wise words. "She would also say, `Get mad, then get over it'" Midoriko smiled again.

"Kagome you are very wise for your age, I have visited you in your dreams to help train you as a miko and a guardian for the now full Shikon No Tama." Kagome's eyes widened.

She looked down at her Shikon necklace and saw a full jewel. "It's whole again!" Kagome almost cried. Then she remembered. "Midoriko, can I make a wish?" Midoriko nodded.

"You get four. One for each soul." Kagome smiled and held the jewel in front of her.

"First, I wish I could have the smartest, kindest, powerful, and most gorgeous pet that I can come up with on my own! And she always listens to me and protects me!" The jewel flashed a bright light and a glowing sphere descended from the heavens. The sphere stopped when it reached Kagome and it glowed brighter and brighter until Kagome couldn't see anymore and had to look away.

When the light faded a cat about the size of a dog with tan fur and white wings was sitting at Kagome's feet (if you know the evolution of meowth from poke'mon that is what Kagome's new cat looks like except this one has wings and its fur is a little darker and more muscular! It's ears are smaller and it doesn't have a jewel on it's forehead)

Kagome took a good look at the cat and saw the Kanji marking on its forehead for `Light' in black. Kagome pet him but stopped when she heard a roar come from her left. She looked over and saw the same cat but completely opposite. This one had black fur and white wings with the Kanji markings for `Dark' on it. Kagome motioned for all of them to come together and pet and played with them.

`A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge.' Midoriko thought.

Kagome stopped and looked up at Midoriko with confusion. "Why do I have two pets when I only asked for one?"

"The jewel knows you have a pure heart so it will give extra bonuses to you, also you restored it." Kagome nodded.

"I think I am ready for another wish Midoriko." Midoriko nodded. Kagome had to think for a minute before she could come up with another one. "I can't think of any right now." Kagome said. "Can I save it for later?" Midoriko nodded. "Good, now onto training!"

Kagome and Midoriko trained for what was weeks in dream time but it was hours in hers. She had learned many new abilities and had learned that she was a very important person. She also found out that she has the ability to stop time and control all of the elements. She also found out that she is an apparition for all of the different markings on her back. She can control all fire, water, ice, weather, light, dark, plants, electricity, weather, and time itself.

Kagome was indeed the strongest person alive and she was taught by different senseis to learn her powers.

Kagome had finished her training and was about to leave when Midoriko called out to her and told her to come over to her. When Kagome got to Midoriko she saw Midoriko bow down low to her. "What's up with the formality Mido?" Midoriko got up and held out a sheath with a sword inside. "For me?" Midoriko nodded. Kagome hugged her tight and took the sword with great care. It had a perfect silver blade and a black hilt with golden designs on it and the blade had the Kanji words for `Death' on one side and `Life' on the other. Kagome made it transform and it was bigger than Tetsusaiga but it was very light.

Midoriko spoke, "It is made so that it is light for you only and no one else unless you say it is okay to be held by the other person. She is a very powerful sword." Kagome's eyes widened.

"I think I will name her….Paine." Kagome sheathed Paine and strapped it to her waist with a black belt.

Midoriko spoke again and this time held out a very long piece of cloth that was wrapped around something. Kagome untied the knots and hr eyes widened. A silver staff about as tall as Kagome was unwrapped. One of the ends held a crystal like stone with red in the middle. It had strange writing all over the sides that Kagome recognized as Elvin words that talked about it's holder. "What is it?" Kagome asked.

"It is a magical staff. The stone holds a mix of magical blood from all of your senseis. It will help you boost your power It also has the same orders as Paine so it will not let anyone but you hold it unless given permission." Kagome nodded. She held it in her hand and looked at it carefully.

"I will call him, Shiori." Kagome waited for Midoriko to say something.

Midoriko agreed and held out one last thing, a book. Kagome took the book. "This book has no writing. You write something inside as either a journal or you can ask it questions and it will tell you. It has been made for you only and has the knowledge of all but the personality of a person. It can tell you your homework's answers and things about the past. The only thing it does not know is about the future." Kagome's eyes got big and she took a look at the fairly large book. She flipped through the pages and found nothing written inside. Wow. She thought.

"Thank you Mido." Kagome hugged Midoriko and she woke up after saying goodbye to everyone.

****When Kagome wakes up****

Kagome's eyes fluttered open and everything she had gotten was lying on her floor and Light and Dark were lying on her bed at her sides. "Hey guys." She rubbed their ears and got out of bed. Her back pain came back and she rubbed her temples to try and not thing about it. She looked at the little alarm clock on the end table and saw it read 12:46. "Hey get up you guys let's go see Botan!" She waved her hand out so they would follow her and they did.

She ran down the hall and spread her senses to find Botan. She found out Botan had just left like a few minutes ago because her sent stopped at the driveway. Kagome shrugged and figured this just means she can search for her other friends like Yusuke, Kurama, or Hiei. How could Botan say I am crazy to think Hiei is hott when he is? I should hook her up with Kurama as soon as possible so I can pick on her about it. Kagome giggled at the thought.

She walked to her bag of clothes and picked out the black shirt she got yesterday that says `God Doesn't put too Much on You that You Can't Handle' in little swirls. She picked out a pair of black shorts and underwear that was black + a bra that was (her and Botan got underwear and stuff too). She walked to the bathroom and quickly washed her hair while Light and Dark waited. She came out dressed and her hair dried and brushed.

I think I will visit Kurama today. Maybe I can tell him some stuff about Botan! Kagome giggled and looked at herself in her bedroom mirror. She still had the back pain and it felt like her shoulders were swollen because they were getting bigger. Kagome rubbed them for a bit and left with her combat boots and sunglasses on + her jewelry and her fingerless gloves.

Kagome spread her senses and found Kurama and his house, he is eating lunch with his mother. Kagome walked for a while and after about 3 miles and came to a house that smelled of flowers and herbs. Being a fox I guess he would have to live in a place with a lot of herbs. Kagome pondered. She came up to the door and knocked on it. Kurama answered the door. "Hello, Kagome. I hope our capture of you hasn't been too harsh. How are you this afternoon?" Kagome smiled at his politeness.

"I'm fine thank you. I don't mind you taking me for your missions either." Kagome smiled again.

"Come in, please." Kurama moved out of the way. When she passed he noticed Kagome's shoulder blades were extraordinarily large. "Kagome is your back okay?" Kagome frowned.

"It has been hurting since last night. It feels like it is swollen." Kurama understood and lead her to his room which was filled with plants and such. "Nice room Kurama." Kurama thanked her and asked her to sit on his bed. He sat next to her and they talked.

"Kagome, if you do not mind me asking…"Kurama stopped for her reply.

"Ask away." Kurama understood and went on.

"What are you exactly?" Kagome thought for a minute.

"I think I am just the chosen one. On my back I have a marking with all the things I can control and on the top it says `Chosen' on it." Kurama thought about what Kagome just said.

"May I see that marking, Kagome?" Kurama asked.

"Sure!" Kagome stood up and got the picture of her back out and gave it to Kurama.

Kurama eyed it carefully. His eyes widened. "You control everything? Even time?" Kagome nodded.

"Would you like to see something Kurama? It is images of my training in my dream. It won't take but a second to get all the images to your head." Kurama nodded and Kagome had her eyes open for a few seconds and she didn't breath. When she blinked and breathed again the images had been successfully shown to Kurama.

Kurama blinked back and fell back. "Midoriko? That is amazing." Kagome nodded. "Where are Light and Dark?" Kagome closed her eyes and Dark appeared from the shadows and Light from the light.

Kurama's eyes widened but not because of Light and Dark but because Kagome had black wings! "Kagome! You have wings!" Kagome put her hand to her back and felt a feathery bone. She lost her consciousness from the shock right there. `One would think she could handle one more thing. Or maybe all of this has been too much.' Kurama picked up Kagome a little and set her on his bed properly.

Just then Hiei jumped in from the window.

~Fox? What is that woman doing here?~

~She fainted because she just grew wings. I am setting her down. I don't know why she came here. Could you stay here and watch her while I get a cloth and some water, Hiei?~

~Hn.~ Kurama left and Hiei walked over to Kagome. He took a look at Kagome's wings. He felt the wings and the part that had bone had fur and the actual wings were feathery but softer and silkier. Hiei looked at the bottom of the wings and saw silver and red mixed tips. `She looks so beautiful.' Hiei mentally kicked himself. `Argh, stupid wench. Giving me feelings about her! How dare she make me-`He was brought out of his thoughts when he noticed Kurama had watched him touch her wings?

"Are they soft, Hiei?" Kurama chucked a bit at his friends embarrassment.

"Hn." Hiei stood back.

Kurama stepped foreword and felt her wings. "They are soft." Hiei merely nodded.

Light and Dark walked up to the bed and nuzzled Kagome. When she opened her eyes she was crying a little bit and she was sweating and was panting. Her eyes were changing colors rapidly and her tears were turning into different color gems. "What?" Hiei and Kurama asked together.

"I saw it all over again! Their bodies! Sango! Miroku! Shippou! Kirara! Inuyasha! Noooo! Not again! Not again!" Kagome cried more and her tears kept forming colorful stones.
