Summary: The day the world was broken.
It had been almost two months since she had set out when she felt it happen. All of the fragments of her soul had been removed from shielding and she could feel them all almost as if they were shards of the jewel. Now was the time and she would relish the feeling of once again being whole. At the thought a slow smile caressed her lips as she closed her dark grey eyes and started whispering words beneath her breath.
In another world, a startled scream split the quiet as Keiko looked at all of the little glowing orbs in almost surprised horror. The others had all rushed in at the sound and their eyes were all wide in surprise as well as slight fear as the glowing orbs suddenly flew from the premises and began hurtling through the air to some unknown place. From among them only one smirked with a murmur of, “she’ll finally be whole.”
Back in the Makai Kagome was brought to her kneels at the feel of so many pieces of her soul returning at once and as soon as the last piece slammed into her chest the three worlds began to shake. As her eyes finally snapped open a soft smile graced her lips and her now pure white eyes twinkled like stars in the night sky from the pure power that was swirling within her blood.
And just as she had become whole once more did her presence entirely disappear from all three worlds and not even Enma could notice that she had once more returned to the land of the living, whole and more powerful than before. Only Hiei noticed her disappearance as a deep burning sensation shot through the spot where she had marked him. Her mark had a small pink sphere setting behind dark clouds.

The day of the tournament had finally arrived and all of them had appeared looking stronger as well as ready to fight. Only Sesshoumaru and Kouga stood out of battle, not wanting to add their own lands to the bet as well as to be ready in case Naraku should win. Power surrounded them almost like a cloak as they made their way to their seats with their mates by their sides.
Shippo and Yoshirou had found Hiei, Kuroune, and the others and introductions were being made between the former Rekai Tantei and the former shard hunting gang. All of them were beginning to worry at the lack of Kagome, but they were trying to keep themselves occupied. They all knew what the deep burn in the mark meant, but none of them wanted to admit what appeared to be true.
A sudden swirl of mist surrounded them and then before them stood the priestess they had all been worried about. Just as she appeared did feeling return to the mark on Hiei. A soft smile played at her rose red lips as her sparkling sapphire eyes looked to all of them with a happiness that hadn’t quite been there just before. As her eyes drank them all in her arms automatically opened for the two that truly needed her comfort in that moment. Her two sons raced into her embrace and she could only smile, “did you really think I’d leave you again so soon?”
And while the happiness remained in her face, her eyes took on a faraway look as they turned to one of the other competitors; a handsome dark haired man that had almost golden colored skin and pitch black eyes. They all noticed that her attention was elsewhere and attempted to find the cause of her lack in attention but didn’t see anything too unsettling.
Kurama, who was standing next to Kuroune, decided to step forward at this point. “Though I know that you didn’t do it for me, I feel I must thank-you for saving the life of my friend, Kuroune.”
She nodded to him with her soft smile still in place, “it’s about time for the battles to start.”
In was only in that moment that they truly took in her appearance, and it was that of a warrior. She was dressed in loose fitting hakama that were black, but a tight fitting top that was missing the back and shoulders that was white. Visible on her shoulder was the tattoo of a black dragon, Hiei’s mark. At each side of her waist were strapped two swords that had power rolling off of them in waves. At the sight, those that knew the swords could only gape. Never before had their friend worn those two blades into battle.
It was when they were being sorted into their groups that Kagome had to let out a dark sounding chuckle, “how very fitting that he be sealed on the anniversary of that day.”
It took only moments for the meaning of her words to sink in and all those that were with her in the past seemed to tense as one as they took in her odd behavior. It was Inuyasha that approached her, “are you sure you wanna fight this time?”
A gleam of pain and promise flashed through her eyes at the question. “Naraku will not be the only one to pay on this day.”
And with that the young priestess walked away from her friends to face the man that she knew without the shadow of a doubt was the recreated Naraku. To everyone else he appeared the golden skinned, black eyed man, but to her his appearance was clear as day. As their eyes met he had to laugh, “I heard that you lost everything that day, poor pathetic copy of Kikyo.”
“Not everything,” she murmured with a smile as she looked straight back into his dark eyes. “And this time I’m ready for you as well as ‘King’ Enma.”
Her words were a promise that made his eyes widen before he chuckled in response, “it seems that I’m not the only one who plans to take down the fool of god.”
“Perhaps, but our reasons would differ and I do not plan to rule the world in between,” the woman whispered softly in reply.
A raised brow met her statement, “and who would rise to such a seat of power if not yourself?”
“I know a young man that deserves the title far more than I do,” she said softly before her eyes flashed a deep magenta. “And those of my kind do not take well to interference in our plans?”
“Your kind?” he questioned with a malicious chuckle. “Perhaps I should kill all of you humans then.”
A coy and mysterious smile appeared on her lips as she looked into the obvious blood red eyes, “no, Naraku, not human.”
With those final words she turned and left him there to glare after her. Not that he cared what she thought herself to be, but curiosity was a powerful feeling in almost all demons. And he needed to know if this new development would come back to bite him in the ass.

The match had just reached the semi-finals and Kagome was set to go up against Mukuro according to the drawing. While the others worried the miko merely giggled as the female demon approached them slowly. Her normal eye took them all in before landing upon the miko in their midst. “It has been a long time, Kagome-sama.”
Shock was visible on the forms of all those she had met in the present as she gave a nod in reply. “Hai, and it seems we’ll be getting to spare again. Hopefully you’ve improved since the last time.”
A decidedly dark chuckle escaped the demonic female at that. “I would hope so as well, considering I had been a lord before this entire tournament affair had been started by Raizen’s heir.”
“Yes, I was sad to hear from Kuroune that he had left this world. He had been like a father to me,” she half murmured. “And I also hear that we have common tastes.”
Mukuro noticed the teasing smile and took in the mark of the dragon upon the girl’s shoulder with a raised brow. “It would seem you are the human female that stole Hiei from my side. Knowing it was you makes the sting less unpleasant, Kagome-sama.”
Kagome just shook her head at that and smiled, “you know I said you could call me Kagome.”
Mukuro just raised a brow at her, “you are older than I am and that wouldn’t be appropriate as you did raise me for a few years.”
That left them once more astonished as Kagome giggled at the statement, “it would appear to be our turn, and I’d like to see how much you’ve progressed, little one.”

The battle between Kagome and Mukuro had only lasted about twenty minutes before the powerful demon was easily subdued by the petite human female. All of the demons in the crowd were in awe of her abilities as she strode easily from the ring while assisting the taller female. It was after that battle that rumors began to spread like wildfire that the Goddess of Four Souls had risen once more and had come to lead them into a time of peace.
Many demons knew of her legend, the legend of the priestess that defended demons from humans because to her they were the same. They could all feel the energy of her spirit wrapping around them from her battle on the large plant. She was so far away and yet they could feel her power as if she were right beside them.
She smiled as she walked back through the crowds while supporting Mukuro on her shoulder. The others all rushed to her side to help. Botan had arrived and was spreading healing magic through the demoness’ system. Koenma was also there and looking extremely nervous.
A pale hand pushed through his hair and they all noticed the absence of the pacifier that normally was held between his teeth. “I have bad news, my father is beginning to believe the rumors and plans to come here to confront you, Kagome-sama.”
A slow smile spread across her lips as she looked into his worried amber eyes, “there is no need to worry Koenma, I knew he would come.”
The others all looked at her, but it was Yusuke who spoke first. “What do you mean you knew? Why did you show up then?”
Her soft blue eyes turned to him and for the first time since she had reappeared they saw traces of sadness. “I’ve known since I was revived that in order to truly be free from threats I would have to take on the king of Reikai, and I plan to take him on today either during or after my battle with Naraku.”
“You’re not battling Naraku alone,” stated Inuyasha as he glared at her.
Her eyes turned hard as she turned to look at the inu-hanyou, “I will do as I please Inuyasha! I am a grown woman and I know how to make my own decisions. This is a tournament and I will battle him at the end of it. Only if I fail will you even think of touching him.”
Kurama caught on to what she was saying before the others had and he voiced his question, “you’re telling me you believe the final battle will be between he and you? How can you be so sure that one of us won’t win, or even that he is here?”
“I have forseen it,” she said softly as she looked into all of their eyes. “As for knowing that he is here, I can see through his disguise, and for the end he will take his true form.”
The conversations were left at that as she made her way away from the large group. Her two boys followed close behind and even Hiei went after her. Shippo was the first to speak after he was sure the other from the group could not hear them. “What are you planning, momma?”
She turned to them with a smile as she looked into all of their eyes. “I will not allow any of you to be hurt this time. This time, I have a surprise for both Naraku and Enma.”
“Does it have something to do with where you have been that made the connection to the mark break?” questioned Hiei as he looked into her soft sapphire eyes.
She nodded. “I told the boys I would need to leave, but now I will not need to. I have already left and things have been settled. ‘Shikon no Megami’ is no longer my only title.”

The rest of the tournament seemed to fly by as Yusuke fought Hiei, Shippo fought Kurama, Kuroune fought Yoshirou, and Kagome took on Yomi. Yusuke managed to beat Hiei and went on to lose to Shippo, who then lost to Kagome who beat both Yomi and Kuroune. Everything was finally set and Kagome was currently facing the man known as Ikiji.
Kagome had to keep herself from laughing when she had found out his name. Ikiji meant backbone and as far as she was concerned, Naraku had none. It was when they met in the middle of their designated battlefield that she allowed her energy free from her tight concealing hold. All those watching the battle froze at the magnitude and shear power her aura gave off. Yusuke almost fell as his face as he had been walking when it touched his own aura.
Even those that knew her and were braced were nearly thrown off balance by the force of it. It was then that she spoke it a deceptively sweet voice, “come now Naraku, surely you don’t mean to fight me in that form.”
They all heard his dark chuckle before he transformed into the body he had used centuries prior when they had had that last battle and she had sealed him within her very soul. Too bad Enma was too stupid to keep his deal with her or none of this would’ve happened.
He lashed out in a second and her dodge signaled the start of their legendary battle. The two fought for what seemed like days but was going on two hours. Her energy was surrounding her and purifying the miasma before she could even breathe the substance in. Her touch was deadly and where ever her skin made contact with his own, his flesh turned to ash. They all watched as the battle took place between the seemingly human girl and the dark hanyou from seven centuries past.
They could feel his dark power and it sickened them. Her power tingled along their senses, but it felt better than the evil hanyou’s energy. And her energy was not completely pure either; it felt has if she had demonic energy swirling around her as well as something else. This other energy felt almost neutral, but like it could be turned deadly with a mere thought.
The fight continued with the hanyou throwing tentacles at the young woman and her dodging them as she also tapped each appendage with a hand. Between them was not a battle to see who would rule the demon world, but a battle to see the fate of the world. If the priestess won, they all felt that things would be for the better, but they knew if the hanyou won that things would be terrible.
Some of the older demon were whispering about how familiar the female looked and how the only one able to defeat him had been the priestess titled ‘Shikon no Megami’. They also spoke of Enma’s betrayal which caused her disappearance just after that last decisive battle. It was as they were comparing the priestess from before to the one in front of them that they heard it.
“I have become more powerful since our last battle, little priestess. And back then you barely had the power to seal me without getting yourself killed.”
“You forget yourself Naraku,” the female whispered as she straightened herself from her crouched position to face him. “You were sealed for seven hundred years, unlike I who incased my own body in a sealing spell for all that time. I used my energy to sustain that spell until another piece of my soul could be returned to me.”
Her admission shocked all those that heard. Even her sons had thought that that was a backlash from what Enma had done to her on that day. If what she was saying was true, then she should be extremely powerful. Naraku seemed to agree as he retreated a step from her with a glare. “You are lying, that would take immense energy.”
A dark smile seemed to dance on her lips as she looked over at him, “the jewel did not merely vanish, Naraku.”
Eyes wide as he took in that information, he retreated another step. That meant she was using the jewel. This time he looked at her with a sneer. “And you all made a big deal out of my using it.”
Her eyes flashed white as she looked at him and a shiver tore through his body at the sight. Her words caused fear to appear in his eyes as well, “I am allowed to draw upon my own power, Naraku.”
“Impossible,” it was the last thing he had been able to say before suddenly he was in terrible pain and all he could see was pure white staring into his eyes. In that moment he knew he had lost, because before him had not been the girl he had fought centuries ago, but instead it was a woman that Enma had created. She appeared and even seemed the same, but now he knew better. Looking into those pure white eyes he knew, she had become the Goddess that Enma had feared her to be.

Kagome smiled as she watched the hanyou’s body disappear, leaving not even ash behind. She watched as the soul left his body and her hands called it to her and took hold of the white orb. With a sad smile she wrapped her arms around it and held it to her chest, allowing it to slowly sink in and become one with herself. Never again would she allow him to hurt others, not now when she had so many that she had to protect.
She slowly made her way back to the others only to be stopped by the rapid approach of a very strong, half hidden aura. Slowly she turned to meet the amber eyes of King Enma who was glaring down dangerously at her. “You should not still be alive.”
A dark giggle escaped her lips at that, “sorry to disappoint Enma dear.”
Rage appeared in his eyes at that and the female dodged the blast of energy that he sent her way. As she did so, however, she finally drew the two blades at her hips. Fear replaced rage as he backed away from her. “You cannot kill a God.”
“Perhaps,” she murmured before a dark smile twisted her lips. “But I still want to see what color you bleed.”

All those in the stadium turned to look as they heard a blast of power. What they saw was King Enma attacking the new king of the demon world. Shippo and Yoshirou both vanished before anyone could stop them. Hiei and Inuyasha were the next to disappear and all of the others followed. Even Koenma took off after the group and arrived in time to see a bluish liquid drop from a deep wound on the God.
Wide eyes took in the scene as he looked between his father and the mate of one of his men. Her dark black hair surrounded her as she faced the lord or the spirit realm, and in her hands were two blades that pulsed with power. Her eyes flickered to them for only a moment before she spoke, “during the tournament I noticed that Hiei controls the darkness technique, so I think I might give him Ryuujin as a belated mating gift.”
Those from the Tantai were slightly confused, but those from her old group knew what she was talking about. In her left hand was a pure black sword made from a dragon’s scale. She held it before her as Enma braced himself with a shield for the attack he was sure she would send his way.
Sure enough, not moments later did a dragon made of black flames emerge from the tip of the sword and shoot towards the God. “Darkness Strike.”
The attack had the eyes of those surrounding the dueling pair widening before all of them braced themselves as the attack hit and energy erupted and threw them all back a bit. Yusuke was the one to stop Koenma from flying backwards as he skyrocketed his energy and managed to stop himself from being thrown too far as he reached out and took hold of the spirit prince; Kurama took hold of Botan at the same time.
When the dust settled from the attack the others could see that Enma was still standing. Kagome was smirking as she looked at him and sheathed that sword. In her other hand she kept the sword that they had yet to see her use. Enma was trembling slightly as he looked at her. “I told you, that you wouldn’t be able to kill a God.”
A deadly smirk appeared on her lips as she looked at him, “and I have yet to truly try. Kyo Kami would like a turn at you.”
As soon as the words left her lips did the blade begin to glow a pure white. Energy wrapped around both her and the blade as her eyes lifted from the sword and were also glowing a pure white color. Before the others could react, Enma took hold of Yoshirou and her attack halted. “If you plan to kill me, you’ll have to kill him too.”
Anger burned within her still pure white eyes as she looked at the God. In a split second the priestess had vanished and before anyone could blink Yoshirou was behind her and a white energy covered hand held tightly onto the God’s throat. Enma truly trembled in fear at that moment as he looked into her anger filled eyes. Danger seeped from her body as her grip tightened.
“Never. Fuck. With. My. Kits.” all those surrounding the three tensed as Yoshirou shivered. She allowed her energy to surround her more fully as she poured it into the God. “My fellow celestials and I have decided that you need to die, so I am here to kill you.”
“Celestials?” he choked out.
She nodded before a burst of light caused all of those around to look away. When their eyes returned to those in the middle, only Kagome remained holding Yoshirou to her in a tight hug. All eyes widened as she smiled sadly at them before releasing her kit and standing tall. “We should walk back to the others.”
“Yeah…” Koenma half murmured as he started following the seemingly young woman now known to be a celestial.
When they returned to the crowd, Kagome was taken on stage and named the new king of the demon world, technically queen in her case. As she accepted the microphone from the announcer she turned to the crowd with a somewhat soft smile, “as my first order of business as queen of the demon world as well as a celestial liason, I name Koenma the new lord of the spirit realm.”

It was about a month after the tournament that everyone was once again gathered on the shrine, even Koenma was there as a teenager; the form now being his most common. He only took his toddler form anymore when he needed to conserve energy. The others were also there all dressed up and waiting.
It wasn’t long before Kagome came out of the shrine dressed in some of the finest silks with her slightly bulging belly easily noticeable. Hiei had been exceedingly mad to discover that Kagome had been pregnant when she had fought both Naraku and Enma, though her two sons had been thrilled at the news that they were finally going to be having those little siblings she promised. With her celestial powers she could easily tell that she would be having twins.
As she made her way to the others Yusuke smiled, “are you ready to go to your palace in Makai, your highness?”
He gave a mock bow which made her giggle as she nodded. “I have to make sure that the babies’ rooms are ready, right Hiei?”
“Hn,” he said with a glare as he looked at her. She was still in trouble for battling while carrying his child.
Kagome smiled at him before looking to all of the others gathered around her little shrine. They were all there for and they were the reason that she defeated both Naraku and Enma. With a smile she looked to her son, Yoshirou. She had already made the decision to return the Eastern lands to him, so that he could rule as his father had. As she thought of her past love she gave a sad smile. She had finally avenged all those that had died that day, the day that Enma had shattered the world.
The end.
