The rest of the afternoon passed without many disturbances. Hiei who had been absent at the meeting that morning merely expressed his usual indifference when hearing that Kagome would be returning to maikai with them. Lord Kane retreated to his rooms to sulk and was currently the only one no present sitting around the massive dining table waiting for lunch to be served.

The group sat in relatively comfortable silence, all seeming to be lost in there own thoughts. Aside from Rin and Shippo who were chatting enthusiastically like always. The piece in the dining room was broken however when the two massive oak doors were thrown open with a BANG!

All eyes's turned to a still disgruntled Kane who stomped angrily across the room and took his seat.

" I see that you have decided to join us Lord Kane. " Sesshomaru observed in calm manner. An indignant snort was all Sesshomaru received in answer. " Lord Sesshomaru." Hiei addressed suddenly. " Yes Lord Hiei?" Sesshomaru replied. " I was wondering exactly how Lady Kagome came to live with you, you obviously have a tremendous respect for her, and yet you are well know to hate humans?" With that being said all the three demon lords turned their eyes to Sesshomaru eagerly awaiting the answer. " I'm sorry Lord Hiei," Sesshomaru began. " But I'm afraid I cannot answer." " Why?" Hiei asked. " If you don't mind me asking."

" The reasons for Kagome's presents here are personal, if she wishes to share them with you she may, but I will not betray her confidences." Was Sesshomaru's only reply before he regally rose from his seat. " Now if you will excuse me I have some business I must attend to." With a slight nod to each of the Lords he silently left the room. Kagome who had been silent threw the whole exchange stood suddenly drawing everyone's attention. " If you will me as well I have things I must see to also." Kagome voice was eerie with a small amount of pain evident, as if some unseen ghosts were haunting her.

" Shippo, Rin." Kagome addressed the two children with fake cheerfulness. " Are you done eating? " " Yes!" Came the simultaneous and perky reply." " Why don't you head to your lessons, once you've finished you can go outside and play." Kagome suggested. " OK!….Yes momma." The two kids coursed still unaware of the tension in the room. They quickly bonded out of their seats and race out of the room. " Good day my lords." Kagome said stiffly bowing before each one before excusing herself.

`These new turn of events are interesting.' Thought Youko, ` I will have to find out what secrets brought Kagome to Sesshomaru's home, and why they cause her such pain.'
