STARTING OVER
*sniffle sniffle* you don't love me anymore! I haven't gotten any more reviews! I'm so sad! *starts bawling* so you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to write this chapter just to spite you! Ha! Take that!
CHAPTER 8
Kagome was the first one to wake up that morning. At first she was a bit disoriented, usually she was on the cold hard ground with only a flimsy sleeping bag for warmth. Instead she was in a soft canopy bed with a warm comforter covering her from neck to toe. She tensed then realized that she was at that stupid tournament with Koenma's detectives.
I better be getting paid for this.
With that thought she rose silently out of bed and took a long, relaxing shower. After she came out she checked the time and changed back into her indestructible, self-cleaning, self-mending battle armor. She ran a brush through her ebony locks then went into the room that was connected to hers and woke Shippou and Sota.
They woke in the same state of confusion she had.
" We are at the hotel. Go change. Our match is in about an hour."
The boys nodded quickly and went to do her bidding. After she could hear the water running Kagome went and knocked on the door of the room that housed the three men she had trained. She could hear them jump out of bed and unsheathe the knives she made them carry at all times.
"Shower and dress, you have a half an hour."
As she walked away Kagome heard them breathe a sigh of relief and start up a game of Jenkin (sp?) to see who would get the shower first. Kagome smiled to herself when Yuske's whine rang out from the closed door.
He really needs to learn how to play that game.
Shippou laughed as he came out of the shower, a towel wrapped around his hair to keep it from soaking his haori.
"I agree Haha-ue."
She turned her smile from the door to her son.
Are you ready?
Shippou nodded his head, making the towel slip from his ruby locks.

"Hai, but Haha-ue…"
Kagome mentally frowned.
What is it?
"I think we should be in our natural forms."
Kagome raised and eyebrow and was about to respond when Sota spoke form behind Shippou. He too had a towel on his head.
"I agree Onee-chan, that way if there are any demons who have lived since the Singoku Jidia they wouldn't recognize us."
Kagome mentally sweatdropped.
Its not fair to tag-team you know.
They both smiled, taking that as a `yes'. The boys sighed in relief and let their illusions slide off of them like the water dripping from their hair. Kagome did the same and smirked mentally; she couldn't wait to see the guy's reactions.
Kagome looked in a conveniently placed mirror. Her hair was now mostly blue with streaks of black. Her eyes where the same tranquil blue as before, but they now had flecks of black. She was a few inches taller, and her hair was now an inch longer. There where crosses covering her eyes. The horizontal cross bars going along where her eyelids met, making it look like thick eyeliner. The vertical bars went an inch down and an inch up. There was a tattoo of a small red dragon wrapped around her right wrist, and an identical black dragon on her left wrist. She also had claws and fangs, tough they were small.
Shippou had blue markings like Sesshoumaru's on his cheeks and wrists. On his forehead was a small black cross. His hair covered the cross though. It also went down to his butt now, and was a goldish color. He was up to her shoulder now, and looked older than he was.
Sota was as tall as Shippou, and his hair was the same length. It was the same colors as Kagome's now. He had the same marking as Shippou, except he didn't have the cross on his forehead. He had claws and fangs about the same size as Shippou's. He also looked older than he actually was.
Sota sat down in front of her and handed her a brush. She smiled slightly and started braiding his long, damp hair.
Why can't you do this?
The smile was evident in Sota's voice when he answered.
"Because you do it better."
Kagome mentally sighed.
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!"
Kagome looked up from her task and saw Yuske in the armor she had given him. He actually looked presentable in white and blue. She looked him in the eye before turning back to braiding the last of Sota's hair.
"There is no need to yell. And really Yuske, is that anyway to treat your sensei?"
Yuske's mouth dropped into a perfect `o'. Shippou, who was on his way over to Kagome to get his hair braided, hit the bottom of Yuske's chin.

" Honestly, you'd think that a few tattoos wouldn't make us look that different."
Shippou grabbed Sota's hand and pulled him to his feet, only to steal his spot a second later. Sota huffed good-naturedly and winked at the still shocked Yuske.
"See. I'm not that short."
Yuske laughed nervously and sweatdropped.
"Y-yah."
Kurama and Hiei, who had entered a few moments behind Yuske, sweatdropped as well. Kagome noticed them and looked Kurama in the eye.
Would you like your hair braided?
Everyone looked at Kurama to see what his answer would be. Kurama thought about it for a second before shaking his head.
"No thank you Kagome-sama, it wouldn't feel right." Kurama smiled at her. Kagome merely went back to braiding Shippou's hair.
Yuske and Hiei threw Kurama a glare. It wasn't often that Kagome would offer them something, so it was kind of stupid to decline.
It's quite all right. He answered truthfully, that is all I ask.
Kagome smiled mentally and thought to herself `well, that and perfection'. After she finished Shippou's hair she rose and walked to the door, strapping Sakki to her side as she went.
Lets go.
The others followed obediently behind her, unconsciously walking in a defensive formation. They arrived at the ring about ten minutes early, so Kagome walked over to the wall, jumped over it, and sat on the bench closest to the ring. The others simply followed their example.
The arena was soon packed. The only place that didn't have screaming demon fans was around team Urameshi. They saw what happened to any demons that got within a ten-foot radius of the group. Kagome, who was sitting in the middle, would stand up and quickly kill anyone who came near. After the third or fourth fan died the others kept their distance.
" Oh that's not very nice now is it Urameshi?"
Kagome glanced at Yuske to see his reaction. It was a bit strange, he smirked and was about to jump down and greet the red haired demon but Kagome held out a restraining hand. Yuske shut his mouth and sat back down.
The red haired demon raised an eyebrow, then burst out laughing.
"Ahahaha! You take orders from a woman!" Yuske frantically made shushing motions with his hands, but it was too late.
Kagome was at the demon's side in second. His laughter cut off by her vice like grip on his throat.
"What was that?"
Her voice was calm, cool, like she was discussing the weather, not suffocating a demon. Said demon clawed at her arm, but couldn't get through the armor. Kagome brought her hand back, and made a ball of purification energy. Just when she was about to release it an annoyed voice rang out behind her.
"Urameshi team! Please! Save it for the ring. Now if your team leader would step into the ring to decide how we are going to fight."
Kagome dropped the demon like a rock, and jumped from where she was to the middle of the ring next to fox with the mike.

Said kitsune jumped and laughed nervously.
"Um, team Shinobi, could you help your leader to the ring please?"
The demon Kagome had been killing slowly got to his feet and staggered over to the ring.
"I'm coming." His voice was hoarse and you could see the red mark Kagome's hand had left.
"Team leaders Jin and….um, I never got your name."
The kitsune turned to her and held the microphone in front of her face. Kagome thought for a second then shrugged (mentally ^_^) and answered in the same icy tone she always uses on strangers.
" Shi no Megami."
Her answer caused a ripple of fear to go through the crowd. The fox with the mike took an involuntary step back, and started shaking.
"S-shi no Megami? H-here?"
The demon, now identified as Jin, brought a hand up to rub his throat. Kagome gave him a look that said `if you oppose me I will kill you' and spoke more to the fox then to him.
"One on one."
Jin nodded dumbly and walked back to his team. While Kagome was walking back she talked to her team.
Who wants to go first?
Shippou smirked and looked at Yuske out of the corner of his eye.
"I say we play Jenkin, the winner gets to pick who goes."
Everyone nodded and smiled except for Yuske, who groaned and hit his head repeatedly on the cement bench. Kagome gave a tiny, barely noticeable nod.
Kagome smirked mentally and caused everyone to pick rock while she picked paper.
I win
Yuske stood up and started yelling.
"That isn't fair!!!"
Kagome just watched as he starting screaming. She turned her attention from the seething Yuske to the rest of the group.
Sota, then Shippou, then myself.
Sota nodded and jumped from his perch next to Shippou. The YuYu group just sighed and settled down to watch. Sota walked up to the kitsune and waited for the other team's opponent.
"Hey all you demon fans this is the first match of the Dark Tournament and I'll be your referee Koto! Our first match will be…" The fox now know as Koto turned to Sota, and put the mike next to his face. Sota looked at her, then closed his eyes and answered.
"Aoi."
"A-Aoi?" She took a step back, much like when Kagome had said her title. Sota merely looked at her from the corner of his eyes.
"Who will I fight?"
Sota's voice had the same ice as Kagome's. Koto looked as if she had been slapped in the face.
"O-oh, u-umm. S-shinobi we need your fighter!"
The temperature around the ring dropped to about 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
"I will be your opponent."
From the other side of the ring a man about Sota's height, maybe a little shorter, jumped onto the elevated arena and walked up to him. The man had light blue hair with green bangs. He bowed low, eyes downcast. Sota merely watched him, waiting for Koto to say `fight'.
"And Fight!"
Sota didn't wait more than a second before attacking. Sota jumped into the air before teleporting behind him and kicking him in the back. The man jumped to the side at the last second and screamed `Shards of Winter!' Sota's eyes widened for a split second, then he reacted like he was taught to. He unsheathed his sword and created a barrier with his spirit energy. The razor sharp blades bounced harmlessly off the shield and fell to the floor with soft chinking sounds. Sota saw that the man needed to take a breath between attacks so he used that to his advantage. Sota used his inhuman speed and knocked the demon from the ring with one kick. He stayed down for more than ten counts so Sota won the match without even breaking a sweat.
As Sota was walking back to his team the man walked over to him.

"I am Toya, and if I may say so that was incredible! I couldn't follow your movements at all! Where did you learn to fight like that?"
Sota glanced at Kagome for advice.
Move on.
Sota took her advice; he didn't even acknowledge Toya's presence, and just kept on walking. Once he reached them he bowed to Kagome and nodded to the rest of them. Shippou jumped down and nodded to Sota, acknowledging that he fought well.
Shippou arrived next to Koto in record time having teleported there. She jumped a bit then asked for his name.
"Chi."
A tall man with a Mohawk stood up and staggered into the ring. Koto recognized him and immediately stepped away.
"Ok! The second fight will be Chi vs. Chu! And FIGHT!"
Shippou concentrated his youki and sunk into the cement. Chu blinked several time before turning to Koto.
"You saw that to right?"
She nodded dumbly then pointed behind him. Chu turned slowly, only to be met with the flat of Shippou's blade. This effectively knocked him out, winning Shippou the match. Koto rubbed her eyes.
"Oh. Wow. Well, that was fast! The winner is Chi!" She reached out to grab Shippou's arm but he growled and she jumped away. He simply walked back to his team nodding to them then bowing to Kagome. Kagome sent him a mental picture of her smiling, she was proud of him. It is hard for a nature related kitsune to work so well with man made objects.
She tucked her hands inside the wide sleeves of her haori and walked up to Koto and just stood, waiting for her opponent. She didn't have to wait long, Jin floated up from where he was seated next to the wall and landed in front of her, scowling.
"And Fight!"
Kagome sent a wave of purification across the ring, knocking him out, and killing all of the fans who where to weak to stand up to the power of the miko. Witch was just about all of them, the only ones to survive being members of other teams competing in the tournament. Jin was writhing in pain on the ground outside the ring. Kagome looked a Koto and the fox instantly began the count.
At ten Kagome waked out of the ring, her hands never leaving her sleeves. Koto was speechless for a moment before raising her hands in the air and yelling into the mike.
"That's tree to zero! The Urameshi team wins!"
The rest of the team jumped down from the audience and walked with Kagome back to the hotel room, leaving behind a silent audience. After all, who would be so stupid as to boo a team with the `Shi no Megami' the `Aoi' and the `Chi'?
