Chapter Six

The figure stood silent and still not really looking at anyone or anything. His cold amber eyes looking off in the distance, his moonlight hair flowing free in the wind behind him. His best and only friend, next to his half-brother who he didn't get along with, was missing or dead and there was nothing that he could do about it. Growling out his frustration he swung around and headed back into the sanctuary of his palace. He walked over to the large wooden desk that decorated one corner of his library. Spread out all across his desk were pictures, letters, documents and several other bits of information that he or one of his servants had gathered after that tragic night. Many of the pictures were of a once elegant mansion that now showed lain in ruins, burned all the way down to the basement floor. He gave a sigh as he looked over them again looking for some sort of clue as to both who was stupid enough to attack one of the highest ranking families, next to his own of chores, in the Makai and to where the young princess disappeared off to.

Three of the documents on his desk were death certifies of the family well all of the family but one. One family member was missing from the house when he arrived with his half-brother and their soldiers. One belonged to the old man and head of the Higurashi Family, the second was of a young woman this was Lady Higurashi and Higurashi-sama's only living heir, the third and last was of a small demon child who could have been no more that eight human years old. He let his sharp white claws linger over that picture a second before he sat down in his chair bringing the document in front of him.

^^He's so youngand innocent just like his sister. I still don't understand why he would pick someone like me to be his hero, but he did. As I recall it all started the very firsttime that Iarrived in their lands to begin to train the next Heir of the Higurashi lands. Boy was I in for a surprise. ^^

##### Flashback #####

Sesshomaru's POV

I was just beginning to enter the lands that belonged to the Higurashi clan when the sound of voices reached my sensitive ears. Curious and up for a fight I changed direction and headed for the sounds. When I arrived at the scene I was astonished at what I was seeing a young eight-year-old boy demon standing off against a ten foot tall ogre like demon. “You will not enter into my father's lands.” The young boy demon growled as he glared at the ogre in front of him. The demon boy had short black hair that reached his shoulders; he had gentle blue/green eyes and stood no taller than three foot tall.

The ogre gave a growled laugh as he looked down at the demon boy “And what are you going to do child? You're no where strong enough to fight me I'll kill you without even trying.” The demon asked watching the demon child intently.

“Actually no he won't be the one fighting you. I will. He was just distracting you until I could get here.” A feminine voice said from behind the over size ogre. Quickly the ogre turned around stepping to the side slightly as he did so. What he revealed was not only a surprise to the ogre but to me as well. She couldn't be any older than fourteen and stood a mere height of four two but she stood up against the demon as if she was his height. She wore large green hakama pants and a kimono. Her hair reached mid way down her back and tied loosely with a white hair ribbon. Her eyes were a soft shade of light blue sprinkled with silver and held a hint of innocence that very few demons could claim even at her age. The young demoness glanced over at me acknowledging that I was presence then back toward the ogre. Everything was quite for a minute or two then all hell broke loose when the ogre decided to attack.

The ogre pulled a large club up that he had tied to his back and sung it at the young demoness who simply jumped up and over the large piece of wood. Her blue silver eyes narrowed and a low growl escaped her lips when she landed safely on the ground. “This is your last warning leave my Father's land while you have the chance and you'll live if not then I'll be forced to dispose of you for trespassing and the endangerment of a Higurashi family member.” She stated calmly and coldly as she stood back up out of her crouched position. The ogre didn't say anything he didn't have to he attacked yet again making a swipe at the demoness with his club. Only difference was that this time she didn't move as the large piece of wood came at her full force. Slowly she closed her eyes and tilted her head down “You should have decided to leave while you had the chance. Now your as good as dead.” With that said she lifted an arm and stopped the large club from hitting her full force. As soon as the club hit her arm it stopped dead all power that was behind it……. gone.

She lifted her head up and glared at the ogre digging her claws into the wood she gave a jerk and the club was then in her possession. The demoness smirked and tossed the club to the side where the ogre couldn't get to it. The demoness gave a sigh “I hate when fighting against those that are weaker than me.” She muttered and attacked the ogre jumping high up in the air level with the ogre and sliced him quickly and cleanly straight down the center vertically. She landed on the ground flicking the demon's blood off of her claws. “Now that that is over with.” She muttered disgustedly as she began to walk my way the young demon boy falling in behind her. She gave a bow at the waist then straightened back up “We are honored to have the lord of the Western Lands in our home. My name is Kagome Higurashi princess and heir to the Higurashi lands. This is my younger brother Sota Higurashi prince and second born. Now Lord Sesshomaru if you'll please follow me I'll escort you to the palace.” She said softly and turned to leave observably expecting him to follow her.

^^If she really was who she said she was then this was going to be an interesting experience.^^

End of POV

A small smile found its way to his lips ^^And an interesting experience it was indeed.^^ Abruptly as the thought crosses his mind a loud knock echoed through the room bouncing off of the walls. Quicker than the human eye could see he straightened himself and cleaned his desk off. “Come in.” he growled.

Slowly the door opened and a young man with silver hair much like his own walked in. The young man had dog ears on top of his head and gold eyes. He met his gold eyes with the figure sitting in the chair he opened his mouth and said seven words. Seven words that made his heart begin to pound in his chest “We might have found her…… she's alive.”
