Author notes~~ I’ll try to get chapters out more often but I can‘t promise anything. It may be a few weeks (hopefully not months thought) between each time I post a chapter. I‘ve been really busy and it‘s hard to find time to get a new chapter done. My pregnancy gets better just to have my daughter end up at the hospital! Also it would be great if more of the hundred something people who read this then like 2 would review. I feed off of praise! I hope that I‘ve not offended anyone into not reviewing any more! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chapt er : 12

Last Time: Smiling triumphantly Kagome turned back to breakfast. “Breakfast is ready!” She chirped happily, only causing everyone to laugh harder.

This time:

Sango sighed as she pushed her plate away from her. Looking up she smiled at Kagome and Yukina.

“Thanks for Breakfast! It was great.” Wincing slightly she turned to Jin. “You ready to go train? We need to start soon, the sooner we get used to everyone’s fighting styles, the sooner we get to Makai and get this mission on the move.” Jin nodded looking very somber.

“Take Yusuke, Touya and Kurama with you. They can serve as your opponents for now.” Genkai said as she took a sip of her tea. Yusuke groaned, which caused Touya to roll his eyes at him. Kurama nodded and stood.

“It sounds like a good idea. I am sure that Hiei is already outside waiting on you two.” Sango nodded and she left the room to change. As the rest walked out to the back training grounds.

As Kurama had predicted Hiei was laying across one of the branches of the closest trees to the practice grounds. He didn’t even open his eyes up as Kurama, Touya and Yusuke made thier way to the tree. No more then a few minutes after the guys arrived out side Sango appeared wearing the outfit and weapons that she had the night before. Her hair pulled up in a pony tail she looked around and frowned before turning and walking toward the others.

“Since Nozomi is not here well have to start practicing with out her.” Hiei cracked an eye open at this and grunted. Kurama frowned slightly.

“Is that wise you all need to get used to each others fighting styles. Should we not wait or try to get a hold of her?” Sango shook her head at this, looking up at Hiei before turning back to the others.

“No, Nozomi’s fighting style will be the easiest for them to get used to. She moves in the shadows, pulling sabotage and such close range fighting. My strongest style is long distance with the Hiraikotsu. She moves around me usually and covers me from close range attacks.” Jin nodded and with out even looking behind him kicked the trunk of the tree Hiei was laying in, hard enough to cause Hiei to have to sit up or fall out. Hiei growled down at him.

“Well lets get to this practice at least.” Jin stated nonchalantly with out even acknowledging Hiei. Yusuke and Touya chuckled at him.

They moved in to one on one sparing first allowing Sango to go against each guy in turn. Hiei and Jin followed suit. Allowing the three to watch the others against varying styles and also the experience of fighting their styles too.

At the end all six of them were pretty tired and sweaty. Hiei was looking at Sango with a little more respect now and after being hit on the head with the Hiraikotsu Jin stopped making eyes at Sango all the time. They had just sat down to rest and go over what they all learned and saw when a strange youkai level raised seemingly out of nowhere.

Before they could even stagger to thier feet a tall male youkai burst from the forest. His long red hair flared out behind him like a flame as he ran at them. He never took his eyes off of Sango as he ran for them but no one missed that his eyes were blank, there was no life in them. Kurama, Jin and Touya moved to surround Sango as, Hiei and Yusuke moved in front of them all in fighting stance.

The unknown youkai didn’t make it more then 20 feet out of the forest before a wall of flames come shooting out of the other side of the forest, cutting off his path to the group. As he tried to slow to a stop before reaching the flames they spread rapidly toward him. Engulfing him in thier midst, they group stood in wonder watching as his skin then muscles and finally bones slowly melted away. The whole time the youkai never made a sound, never even tried to fight it’s fate.

Finally when there was not even ashes left of the youkai the wall of fire retreated, not even leaving scorched grass behind. Sango sighed and began moving toward the area of the forest the fire had come from. Looking over her shoulder at the stunned guys she shook her head before calling out to them.

“That would have been Nozomi. Could one of you come with me to collect her. Calling on the wild elements and controlling them is extremely difficult and hard on her body. Especially on such short notice She’ll be out there either almost passed out or out already.” The boys all stared at her back of a moment before Hiei jerked forward and followed closely behind Sango. Jin shrugged his shoulders and followed to. When Sango raised an eye brow at him following he flashed her a lop sided smile.

“Best stay in groups in case there’s more of them things out there.” He simply stated and Sango nodded before pushing ahead and leading the way.

It only took a few moments for them to reach Nozomi. She was laying on her back staring at the sky. Her arms spread out wide and her eyes cloudy, She barely acknowledge that they had approached. When Hiei leaned down to pick her up she groaned.

“Did you have to bring him with?” She rasped out and Sango and Jin only chuckled as Hiei snarled at Nozomi when he picked her up.

They all turned and headed back to the house. Nozomi fell to a sleep in Hiei’s arms before they even made it out of the forest.

 Once inside Kagome meet them at the door drying her hands on a dish towel. Her eyes widened slightly and she rushed forward at the sight of Hiei and Nozomi.

“What happened?” She asked in a startled voice. Sango shook her head.

“We were attacked and Nozomi called on the wild elements to stop it.” Kagome nodded and moved out of Hiei’s way.

“Just lay her in her room. All it’s gonna really take is some sleep and a good dose of herbs to rebuild her energy. The rest approached as they moved into Nozomi’s room.

“Yey but thanks to her we have no idea who it was or what they wanted.” Yusuke grumbled earning a pillow in the face from Botan who sat in one of the arm chairs. Genkai moved in from the door way and sat on the edge of the bed, well Kagome got Nozomi settled.

“What exactly happened?” She asked in a tight voice. Kurama leaned forward from the arm chair he had taken.

“We had finished sparing and were all way to tired to do much more fighting when an unknown youkai appeared out of the forest. He headed straight for Sango. So I would assume that he was intent on taking or killing her.” Touya grunted and Genkai looked over at him.

“The Youkai’s movements were jerky and unnatural. He also held no life in his eyes, they were dull and dead.” Genkai nodded slowly rubbing her chin.

“Sounds like a puppet. You wouldn’t have been able to fight him off in your exhausted state. The puppet master can increase strength and speed when needed. That’s why Nozomi didn’t try to attack by direct physical force. She would never have been able to get between the group and him in time.” They all turned to look at Nozomi. She was a little paler then usual and looked really tired. Genkai slowly rose and nodding to Hiei moved to the door.

“I think we should all leave and let her rest. Kagome needs to get those herbs ready any way.” With that she walked out and the others followed except Kagome and Yusuke. As Kagome moved out of the room Yusuke followed pausing at the door he looked back at Hiei.

“I don’t know exactly what’s going on Hiei but I know that it sounds like you have a lot of make up for. You probably don’t want to hear this but I’m gonna say it anyway. Be yourself but don’t. Don’t be such an ass and if only in private swallow your pride and don’t be stupid.” Before Hiei could do more then glare death at Yusuke had moved out into the hall.

Hiei could hear him call down the hall to Kagome.

“Oi! Kagome want some company or help well getting the herbs ready?” He could hear Kagome laugh and answer yes before they were out of rang.

Looking down at Nozomi Hiei removed his, boots, coat and shirt before crawling into the bed and laying next to her. Watching her sleep.

Kuramas gurl~~ *purrs* I love having my ego stroked feels so good. Umm.. Thanks anyway but you can keep your pennies. I have too many laying around my house as it is from my husband. ^.^! Like I said I know how I want this to end and where it’s going it’s just getting the chapters between here and there that seems the problem some times. One chapter is so easy to get out and another harder!

ashtonreed~~ Thank you Thank you! That’s why I said before I’ve written or half written many more before posting them. There are things in the plot or story line that you can’t get away from when you do a crossover but that's why I’ve never posted till now. Cause they were too much like other ones. I would love to do a Touya and Kagome pairing but I know next to nothing about Touya. Enough to feel semi comfortable using him in the story but not enough to make him a pairing with a main. I haven’t seen that far into the YuYu show!
