Pale moonlight slowly filtered in through the window when Kagome finally managed to open her eyes. Her body felt weakened as she attempted to rise to her feet, only to be halted by what felt like a bar of steel. Looking down at her midsection she noticed that an arm was wrapped around her, so she reached out with her aura and found out that it was Yusuke that was holding her. Reaching down and taking hold of his arm she slowly managed to untangle herself and get out of bed. In her tired state the main thing she really wanted was a bath, and then she had a phone call that she needed to make. She slipped silently into the bathroom and closed the door behind her as she started her water and sighed to herself before undressing. When the tub was full she easily slipped into the water and allowed the heat to work wonders on her sore and aching muscles. The backlash from the curse drained her energy relatively fast, not to mention it strained at her muscles to keep from pulling back from the feel of such malevolent energy. As it was she knew that Yusuke would have questions for her when he woke and found she was also awake.
They hadn’t really been together that long, but she did trust him. On top of that she felt that he was the one the one that she’d be able to spend the rest of her life with. And after the other night she truly wanted to believe that he was the one, because no other man had touched her like he had. The way he had made her feel was amazing, though she could tell he wasn’t very experienced he still thought of her first and took things slowly.
So lost in thought she didn’t realize that she had been in the bath for a few hours until she felt the water go cold. Shaking her head of all such thoughts for the time being she stood up and began to dry off as she let the water begin to empty. Once dry she pulled on her robe and made her way to the phone where she quickly dialed a number and waited. Three rings and a masculine voice answered her with a slightly worried tone. “Everything’s fine Shippo, I just need a favor.”
“Name it mama,” he said easily through the device.
“Tomorrow I need you to take me to Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. Something has come up and I need to speak with them a.s.a.p.”
“Alright, I’ll be there around nine,” the voice said softly.
“I’ll see you then baby,” she said softly as she hung up the phone and moved to return to the bed.
Standing in the doorway was Yusuke, and he was clad in a pair of pants, leaving his torso uncovered. He was looking at her with a somewhat hurt expression and after a moment of thought she realized that he had heard her call the person on the phone baby. With a slight sigh she realized that he deserved an explanation now instead of later, so she turned to the couch and motioned him over to sit with her instead.
After a few moments he broke the silence, “who was that?”
Her blue-gray eyes met his in a slightly saddened glance before returning to her hands in her lap. “That was Shippo, and before you get upset I should explain that he is my son.”
“Y-your son?!” he exclaimed in a nearly disbelieving voice.
“I adopted him when I was in Feudal Japan,” she said lowly as she reached for one of his hands. “Will you listen to my story Yusuke?”
The thought that she had been in ancient Japan confused and upset him, but he knew that she wasn’t lying because he detected no lie from her, so instead of turning her away he nodded his ascent. “I’ll listen to anything you wish to tell me.”
“It all started on the day I turned fifteen…”

Kagome yawned tiredly as she climbed into Shippo’s car and headed to the nearest crossover point. The kitsune never commented, but knew something was different about his mother from the way she was acting. It was like there was a lightness to her that simply wasn’t there before. After about an hour he parked the car and they got out in a little forest just outside of the city. Kirara stretched before transforming and allowing the priestess to climb onto her back.//\\

“Lead the way, Shippo,” the girl said softly with a smile as they crossed into the Makai and a bright smile lit her lips. The feel of youki surrounded her and made her feel at home as her own energy tried to swirl up and dance with the flowing energy.
Shippo just grinned as he too felt an energy rush just from being in this world. It was created with demons in mind, but it also seemed to feel amazing to those with simple spirit energy. At least, it did if those with spirit energy were more at ease surrounded by the feel of demonic power.
The kitsune set a quick pace and Kirara matched it easily while Kagome giggled happily from upon her back. It was true that Kagome could have easily run and kept up with Shippo due to all of the training she had received, but she also loved flying through the air while astride the neko’s back. It was just something about being carried that she enjoyed, probably remnants from her time being carried mainly by Inuyasha.
It was around eleven when the western palace came into view and the priestess dismounted the fire cat in order to walk up to the gate. Those that guarded the palace all bowed deeply as they approached and Kagome smiled softly at them as they were let through. Inuyasha was just in the courtyard and rushed forward to spin her around before setting her down and crushing her body to his in a hug.
“I’m guessing you missed me?” she asked with a giggle as she was finally released.
“Course I missed you ‘Gome,” said the dog demon with a grin. “Sess missed you too, though I doubt he’d admit it.”
“And I missed all of you, but I need to speak to the both of you immediately. I know that something’s happening and I also know that you two would have to have some information on it.”
“What are you talking about Kagome?”
“Take me to Sessoumaru and I’ll tell you about my interesting day,” she said softly with a hint of steel in her eyes.
“H-hai Kagome,” he said as he took a step back from her and turned to lead her into the palace. After a few twists and turns they found themselves within the demon king’s study and Inuyasha cleared his throat to gain the taiyoukai’s attention. “Kagome’s here to talk to us about something.”
“Kagome,” the demon lord murmured as he looked up into her clashing blue-gray eyes. “What urgent matter do you wish to discuss?”
“I wish to know about all of your reports on any strange activity, and don’t try telling me there hasn’t been any.”
The three demons shared a look before Sesshoumaru’s gaze once again focused on her. “There are reports in the Reikai of a demonic energy that feels similar to that of Naraku. On top of that, Inuyasha and I have also felt this energy and we both agree that the energy is similar but it does not belong to the dark hanyou.”
“So you have no definite information then?” she asked with a slight sigh.
“No, but I am most curious how you know that something has been happening,” he stated calmly.
“I was taking a bath yesterday when I felt a spike of dark energy and went to investigate. What I found was an ice maiden with a cursed soul and an ominous toxin in her body, and on top of that were hundreds of lower classed demons fighting some people I’ve recently met known as the spirit detectives. The most intriguing part is that the leader of those demons called himself Hideki, the son of Naraku.”
It was easy to see as the muscles tensed at her words and all eyes were immediately and fully focused on her. Shippo took a step toward her but paused as the information fully hit him. If she had seen and even knew the name of the demon, then she had also most likely battled him. “You fought him.”
“Hai,” she murmured as she looked over them all. “He was fairly strong and I felt that he was hiding quite a bit of his power. I believe that it rivaled Sesshoumaru’s in intensity, but I know that it surpassed Enma’s.”
“Do we know what he wants?” questioned Shippo as he looked at the two inu.
“Our spies have yet to figure that out, but we know he is similar to his father in his enjoyment of games and toying with people’s emotions.” Sesshoumaru said as he rose from his desk and moved to look out the window. “Inuyasha, when this meeting is over I need you to gather the troops and ready all of the men.”
“You wish to be prepared to fight him when the time comes?” asked Kagome as she looked them all over. After receiving a nod she continued, “I shall tell Enma to gather his forces and prepare for anything since we don’t know the extent of this one’s powers.”
The miko was suddenly pulled into a bone crushing hug as Inuyasha pushed his nose into her hair and breathed in deeply. “This time I’ll protect you Kagome, you don’t have to fight this time.”
“Oh Inuyasha,” she whispered as she allowed her arms to wrap around him. “It is my duty to protect and I accepted that a long time ago; I will fight by your side just as I always have and always will.”

Energy radiated from the house as Yusuke made it home with Hiei and Kurama following behind. They all paused for a moment before entering the home and cautiously looking around. The source of the power surprised them as their eyes landed on a teenage boy in a meditative state in the living room. Kagome was in the same pose as the boy that they remembered was named Souta and while she glowed an iridescent white they couldn’t feel her energy.//\\

Yusuke shrugged that off from the information he gathered from the story she had told him the night before. Most likely her energy automatically masked herself as a defense mechanism. Slowly he approached her and tapped her shoulder and her eyes opened to look at him, a white color dominated her eyes as she regarded the three of them before allowing her power to return. Turning to regard her brother and his violet energy, she softly touched his shoulder and his eyes opened to reveal purple irises as he looked around.
As he drew his own power back into himself Kagome smiled at him, “did you sense their approach?”
“No, nee-san,” he murmured as he hung his head sadly.
“I’ll call Shippo and have him bring over the children to help you practice sensing auras,” she said calmly as she turned to their guests. “How’s Yukina doing?”
“Much better since your intervention yesterday,” said Kurama as he stepped forward. “Though I am curious where you learned to use your powers in such a way.”
“Perhaps one day you’ll find out,” she said quietly with a mysterious smile. “And I hope you don’t mind Yusuke, but I agreed to babysit for a friend.”
“No big deal, but we were gonna head to Genkai’s in a bit,” he said with a shrug.
“Could we tag along after Shippo drops the kids off? You can spar in front of them if you want they’re used to seeing it.”
“I suppose,” he said with a shrug as he looked at his friends. “Why don’t you two go ahead and I’ll wait here to take them.”
“Kirara can take us,” she said with a smile. “You can go ahead and we’ll meet you there in a little while.”
“Are you sure, Kagome?” he asked as he pulled her flush against his chest.
A smile touched her lips at his caring tone before she reached up and brought his lips down to meet hers while wrapping her arms around his neck. Everything seemed to disappear from around them for the few moments when their lips were intertwined. When the kiss released both had a happy smile and Kagome stepped away a little. “I’m sure, so go ahead and have some fun with your friends.”

Kagome smiled as three little ones ran up to her, each one wanting to be held by their aunt Kagome. Picking up the smallest child she smiled and kissed their cheek before setting them down and moving to the next till they had all received a kiss in hello. “We’re going to be going to a friend’s house, but don’t worry they all know about demons so no needing to hide.”//\\

“You’re going somewhere?” Shippo questioned as he looked over at his mother. “I had been hoping that I could maybe talk to you about something.”
Noticing the pink tint to his cheeks she giggled before smiling at him. “You may accompany us if you like. I plan to have the children help Souta with his sensing abilities, so that frees me up to speak if you’d like.”
“Sure, where are we going momma?”
“To Genkai’s, Yusuke and some of his friends will be there, but it’s surrounded by lots of forest and open space.”
“Perhaps we could spar a little then, I’m sure that you’re getting a little rusty,” he said with a grin.
“Then perhaps I should show you you’re wrong and make you eat your words,” the miko said with a mischievous smile.

Here is another chapter for this story, and I hope to be posting a lot more soon as I have finally finished writing this one. It’s just been a long time since I’ve really had any free time due to everything that’s been going on.
