Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Undying Love ❯ Chapter 3
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Does it say anything about my character that I find Kagome and Naraku a cute couple or that I really think that it is the most realistic Inu Yasha couple other than Sango and Miroku… oh well thank god for crossovers. Thank you to everyone who pointed out a mistake I made in the last chappie I have a habit of not proofreading my work so things like that happen.
Disclaimer: who knows maybe I do own them? *looks at fangirls with flaming weapons* then again maybe I don't!
I felt strong arms wrap around me and looked up into his blue eyes I could feel his warm fur brush against my skin and I couldn't help but blush. And just as he started to laugh at the reaction he got out of me I decided to voice my thoughts. “So what happened to Ayame you lech?”
He immediately stopped laughing and looked from my mother to me knowing that since I was her daughter and she didn't ask how I knew him that she obviously knew who Ayame was. “Well she up and mated Hakkaku saying that if that's as close as she can be to a bastard like me then she'd make sure no other woman could get that position. But kami knows she tries to act like she's my mate and not his.” I couldn't help but giggle that really sounded like the yasha I had come so close to. “So you really are back to the way you were and without me even having to mess with time.”
“What do you mean without you having to mess with time?” He walked right passed me to the kitchen counter where my mother had made some tea and set it out to wait for us. I hadn't even noticed when she left the room. “Kouga, you bastard tell me why the hell you wanted to mess with time.”
“If you cannot figure it out my dear, then you really have lost your touch.” I blushed and looked down into my tea. He and my mother laughed some more at this. “I wanted to find you and stop you from ever changing. I wanted you to remain the pure little lady I fell in love with. I wanted to stop you from ever saving us from Naraku, or maybe ever going back to that time and see if you'd stay with me forever. But by the time I found your family you had already changed, everything had already happened and your mother managed to steal my heart away. You were just like your mother at a time. She said she had a daughter I just never expected her to be you. I figured she was your daughter and you had left her behind, or that you had a sister. Who knew that my little Kagome never died, just disappeared?”
“So you know what happened koi, tell me! Tell me! Tell me!” my mother jumped up and put her arms around Kouga's neck squeezing him tightly placing many kisses all over him. That's when I heard the doorbell ring. I got up leaving the two there with Kouga trying to explain that he really didn't know much and what he did know could get him killed if he told. I felt happy for my mother, this had been the best choice she has made for a husband yet after all her first husband committed suicide and her second left her for a man. Kouga was very loyal and would never die as long as he knew there was someone who he loved waiting for him. Kouga the wolf that once loved me was now my father! I giggled at the thought.
“Kagome I hear you open the fucking door!” I ran to the door with a smile clear on my face. And when I opened the door I threw my arms around my brother. I smiled at him. He had grown a lot since I had last seen him almost three years ago, back when he was eighteen. In fact his twenty-first birthday was coming up. “Hey sis, I'd like you to meet my new boyfriend.”
I stared up at my little brother, surprised to hear the word boyfriend … not that I have anything against mind you I just never thought… and besides after Jakotsu how did I not see it coming all that doting on Inu Yasha would have to have some adverse affect on him. “I mean really how did I miss all the signs. They were all sticking me in the face…”
“Souta you never told me your sister was a whack job. But your right she is cute none the less.” I looked passed my brother to glare at the man that I assumed was my brother's boyfriend and nearly choked. This bastard was supposed to be dead at least that's what all the records said. I looked up into his Indigo eyes that reminded me so much of something, something from long ago that I knew I should have looked harder for. “So this is the infamous little Kagome I keep hearing so much about…”
“Hey aren't you too old for a ningen?” I smiled up at him despite the years that have gone by since I last saw him he looked no different.
“Kag…” my brother started to reprimand me but was stopped by his `boyfriend.'
“Aren't you far too old to be such an immature bitch.” He snarled at me distain in his voice, for some reason he seemed angry with me. I don't remember doing anything to him though, well other than inadvertently curse him forever by giving him a link to something his young eyes never should have ever seen. And the worst part is he died because of it or so I thought.
“Well since your alive where is it? What did you do with my jewel?”
I looked at Hiei and smiled. The truth is I hadn't told him a thing about our arrival in Japan but how do you explain to your wife your best friend is a youkai with a mind reading third eye on his forehead? You don't that's how. You just carry all her bags and pretend that nothings wrong as you charm her out of your punishment. Life is a torture when you're married to a normal ningen. “So how have you been Hiei?”
“Hn.” He looked at the retreating back of Kagome with a slight scowl. “Did you really have to bring her?”
“You know she's not that bad Hiei, she's just carrying a huge grudge. Eventually she'll get over it and you my little friend will be trampled by all my little kits as she laughs her heart away at your expense.” Hiei just turned around seemingly uncaring. But I knew that he was silently fuming over what I said. From what I understood Hiei didn't exactly like being around children so the thought of them touching him really disgusted him. Especially if the children were mine. “Hiei, how did you get here anyways I thought you were spending some time in Makai.”
“Koenma kicked me out saying that too many youkai were either disappearing completely from the area around my lands or turning up mangled. These youkai included A and S class youkai and he had a feeling someone there was trying to collect strength to open a portal. He said he needed me alive to assist you and Yusuke in the destruction of this creature. He said that he was assembling his other team of tentai but that would take some time seeing as that they are currently scattered through the realms and all but one have concealing spells on their life force and energies.”
“Just how powerful does he think this being is?” My curiosity was spiking greatly.
“Strong enough to kill any of the three kings without too much of an effort. He said he wasn't sure exactly what the creature is or where it came from only that all high-level youkai are in danger of being devoured by it, especially ones that have already passed through the barrier. Raizen, Mukuro, and Yomi have all formed a truce in blind hopes that their alliance will discourage whatever creature is causing this from attacking any more of their subjects.” Hiei walked out through the crowds most likely out of the airport. I didn't follow him knowing that he was most likely waiting for me outside. This creature was so powerful that it scared all three kings, no wonder Koenma dared interrupt my time with Kagome. Oh this puts a dent in my vacation plans, it might even take all summer. Oh damn Kagome is so gonna have a fit. I knew I had to come up with some good excuse when my cell phone interrupted my thoughts.
“Hello” I answered as I tried to hide the irritation in my voice.
“Oh hey honey.” My mother's sweet melodic voice rang through the phone when I answered it. “I'm sorry to bother you right now but…”
“Yes mother.” I wondered why my mothers voice seemed so urgent and laced with way too much perky happiness.
“Um well there is a young girl here saying that she knows you and Kagome and that she needed to find Kagome immediately. Something about a book or something and she also says `hi lovely bishi of sex and love.' Oh isn't she so adorable. I bet if you and Kagome had…” I tuned my mother out for a moment knowing perfectly well she would go on about grandchildren that she doesn't have for a while and it gave me a chance to grab some of Kagome's luggage. “Ooh sweetie how about naming one of them after that girl you used to be so fond of Gina Kobayashi! Ooh wasn't she so darling, you know whatever happened to that girl? Who knows.”
“Mother… just take her to Kagome's house and let her deal with it.” I hate to admit it but my mother was actually being just a bit irritating, I mean I told my wife that I'd be able to spend her whole vacation with her and here is Koenma trying to ruin my marriage! “I'm sorry mom I'm just under a lot of stress you see my boss called…”
“Oh well I understand, I'll tell Kagome and her family. And honey be careful.” I could hear the disappointment in her voice and it ripped me up inside. I could tell she was trying not to cry, that she was extremely worried about me and I knew that she felt I was hiding something from her, I could tell she felt that way for a while, but there was nothing to do about it she was my mother and she was worried it was all I could expect for now. I told her a quick goodbye and hung up as grabbed the last of my luggage.
When I finally reached Kagome's shrine I noticed it was buzzing with low-level youkai. Their scents were all over the place and not even masked. I could even feel where one got in a fight with something far too powerful for it to handle. I looked over at Hiei to see if he sensed them too. He eyes darkened when they met mine.
“Baka they aren't important,” he said. “It's what you don't sense that is.”
“The shrine itself.” I looked up at the building that stood at the end of the steps in front of me. I shuddered. How could I not notice something as important as that?
~Flashback (oooooooooooh *blinks* ok I'll leave)~
“Damn Koenma! You could have warned us what we'd be up against!” Yusuke yelled into the air. We'd been running around for some time now, having wandered across a harem of yasha who needed a strong master. Unfortunately, they wanted us to battle each other to the death to determine which would make the best master. And frankly none of them were worth dieing over in a pointless battle. Besides, we still had to find where the powers of their deceased master were hidden and we had no clue as to where that could be. Now we were growing tired of this troublesome mission and had no idea where to go. “This is really pissing me off right now!”
“Yusuke look up there,” Kuwabara was pointing off towards some steps going up a hill to our right. Something from the place just reached out to me drawing me closer. “Something up there, and it's very strong… it doesn't seem evil but maybe we should see if it's the power sphere.”
Yusuke looked at me and I nodded to him, Kuwabara was right. The presence I felt could just be what we were looking for it would explain why it was calling out to me with such force, and it would make a happy end to our investigation. With that concluded I was the first one to make their way up the stares stealing a few glances back to see if any yasha hiding their aura had snuck up on us. That's when I noticed that they had stopped coming after us they in fact were going the other way. I was stunned wondering what on earth they were doing when I saw a few at the bottom of the steps looking up at us stunned. I was about to stop when I realized that I was no longer moving the presence I felt before was a lot stronger and held me in place. It wrapped itself around not only me but also the others no doubtedly searching us to see if we were any danger to it. The ground around us glowed with purity that's when I took a look around and saw that we had found our way to a shrine.
“Hey guys I know where we are,” Yusuke whispered. He was walking forward eyes darting from place to place. The magic here didn't seem to even touch him. “We're at the Sunset Shrine, my cousin lives here.”
~End Flashback (awe…*sniffles*)~
I looked at Hiei worry apparent in my eyes wondering where the protective soul of the place had gone. We both knew without that the shrine could be overtaken by countless amounts of youkai and that in essence Kagome was in grave danger. Within seconds, we were up the stairs to the shrine and I had opened the door to Kagome's home to a sight I was unprepared for.
Tenchi Usagi: O.K. I'm gonna stop it there because I don't feel good at all right now and have been very sick as of late.
