note!: I’m back at full blast people! Reviewer responses at the end of the chapter!
Thanks for everyone’s support and patience (or lack of)! My dad recently tried contacting me, and we aren’t on the best of terms. That, and still having to take care of my step-padre, has caused a lack of inspiration and time. (He’s in the hospital after a heart attack) Thank you so much to you few who reviewed, it means a lot.
I love all you visitors! Thanks for waiting patiently.
I apologize if this one comes out bolded too, I don’t know what caused the last one to do that, and I know how annoying it must be to read!

Oh and from now thoughts inside of ‘ ‘ belong to Youko, thoughts inside of - - belong to Kurama, and italic ‘’ belong to Hiei. Souten appears in this chapter, and I forget her looks, so its all made up.
Your loving author

Kagome was fuming and ready to raise all hell. She couldn’t believe they had managed to lose track of the Shikon.

“What do you mean it’s not there?! You are supposed to be a god, Koenma, and you can’t even keep track of the most powerful relic in the world?!” Kagome managed to keep her voice calm, although fury coated every word. She was expecting to be able to fuse the jewel together, then go back home. A sigh managed to wedge itself through her lips. So much for that plan.

“To be fair, I’m not a god, I’m a demi-god. Maybe it just got moved?” Koenma felt the anger radiating off the woman, and gulped, laughing nervously. Yusuke could help but smirk at the fear stricken Koenma. The toddler had said the wrong thing and was about to pay for it.

“MOVED? THAT’S YOUR EXCUSE?!” Kagome yelled, but calmed herself down when she saw Hiei glaring at her fiercely. She had almost forgotten about the others, the level of her voice was sure to hurt their demon ears. “The jewel is not here, I would’ve felt it. And since it’s not here, nor in my realm, there’s only one place I think it could be in. Botan,” The cheery girl turned towards Kagome, tilting her head in question. “You can open those portal things right?”

Botan nodded slowly. “Of course, Kagome! Why?”

“Because you’re taking me to the demon realm and Lord Sesshomaru.” Kagome walked over to Botan, glaring briefly at Koenma. She knew it wasn’t his fault completely, and she would apologize later, but she couldn’t help but be a little peeved.

“Are you crazy woman? The Makai is a dangerous place! You wouldn’t last a minute before some demon came and killed you!” Yusuke snorted, the girl actually thought she was powerful enough to take care of herself! Kagome however, felt her dulling anger return with full force.

Firstly, my name is KA-GO-ME! Kagome! Is it that difficult to retain? Secondly, you have no idea what I have gone through despite what your boss made me say! God! You are all-UGH! SIT!” As she ranted, she forgot it was Yusuke she was yelling at, and the memories of her old love came to her mind. When she said the famous word, a sudden sadness filled her eyes. The others looked on in confusion, especially the Spirit Detective she had sent the command at. Her voice turned into a quiet but determined whisper.

“Botan, take me to Lord Sesshomaru.”

Koenma nodded, and Botan opened a portal. The miko wasted no time in walking through, followed shortly after by the detectives, who seemed unnaturally quiet.

Shippou stood in a crouched position, his silver katana hanging leisurely at his waist, his hands held out before him. A thin layer of sweat was barely visible on his body as he faced his opponent. He studied her carefully, although he had already memorized her form. Long ebony hair was pulled back in a loose braid, several pieces had escaped to frame her heart shaped face. Her outfit was skin tight, a copy of the taijiya uniform, which showed off her curves beautifully. There was a marking on her forehead, two blue lightning bolts crossed in an ‘x.’ The silence was tense, before he lunged to the right.

“Foxfire!” He called, sending out the bright blue flames, which narrowly missed his target. His opponent took the time to tackle him, finally ending the long drawn out fight.

“Do you yield, mate?” The girl was smirking as she lounged comfortably on his chest.

“Yes, just get off me Souten!” He pretended to be suffocating and was met with a light slap to the chest, before he felt her remove herself.

“You’re so mean! I wonder why I even mated with you!” She huffed and turned away. Strong arms embraced her, and she leaned back unconsciously.

“Because, it was love at first sight! When you attack my old friends and I, I knew you wouldn’t kill me! And the crayons I gave you only made you fall in love more.” She rolled her eyes and returned the smile Shippou held on his face.

“You idiot, you know I hated you then. The only reason I didn’t kill you was so I could get more crayons. Wait, do you feel that?” Souten paused, closing her eyes and breathing in. There was a shift in the castles aura, signifying an arrival. This one was different however. It felt larger. Shippou mimicked Souten’s actions, and his eyes widened. There were several new auras, but one was unmistakable. It was his mother.

“Souten, go get Reiji and Mika, they’ve got a grandmother to meet!” He took off running full speed. Souten gaped, before rushing off to do as her beloved asked.

-----------------------------------------------

Sh e was home. She felt it as soon as she arrived. The lull of the castle reminded of her times in the Sengoku Jidai. The air felt different, the earth looked different-hell, everything was different-but it was all right somehow. The thing she was searching for was here. Kagome could feel it in her bones. Before she could continue in her revelation she was interrupted by the loud thump that signified the arrival of the Spirit Detectives.

“Stupid Kuwabara! Get off me!” Yusuke was currently being squished by the oaf, and their position made Kagome giggle. Her eye caught Kurama’s, and she noted the amusement dancing in his eyes. Her vision was torn though, when she felt the wind being knocked out of her and a semi-familiar voice shout.

“Kagome!! I missed you!”

Kagome felt her eyes widen as she escaped the man’s grip. Looking him over she noted he was a foot taller than her or so and had auburn hair tied neatly back. He wasn’t especially muscular but power radiated off of his form. When she noticed a long fluffy tail resting behind him, she gasped.

“Shippou!?” She lunged back at him, and he caught her in a vice like grip. “Oh my god, Shippou! I’ve missed you so much!” The tears couldn’t help but escape, and Shippou rubbed her back. “I missed you too, Momma.”

‘Mother? Why is that man calling our Kagome, mother?’ Kurama heard the faint growling in his head.

-Our? She isn’t ours Youko, and I don’t know why.- He too was perplexed by the scene before him. -Hiei, what do you think?-

‘Hn.’ Hiei was taking the opportunity to take a peak into her mind. The sudden guest had brought her walls crashing down momentarily, and he wasn’t one to waste such a perfect chance. What he was met with, perplexed him greatly. It was a memory, he was sure of that. The wench was hugging a small kitsune youkai, and screaming the word ‘sit’ at someone in the distance. Before he could make out more than that, he was blasted from her mind and blinked. The onna was still standing, rubbing her eyes.

“There’s so much I need to tell you about!” Shippou was excited, and hadn’t taken his eyes off his mother after he concluded the men with her weren’t a threat. The redheaded one with her coughed, taking his attention away from the woman he had missed so much.

“Miss Kagome, why did that youkai just call you Momma? He is surely older than you, and I believe you haven’t heard of the Makai until recently.” Kurama noted the nervous smile displayed on the girls face.

Kagome held onto her son’s hand, and thought about what to say. She had told them a very edited version of her story, and declined to mention the fact that she had traveled back in time. Kagome said the fragment she possessed was given to her by a demon when she was 15, who entrusted it in her possession until she could find the rest. The only companions she had mentioned were Sango and Miroku.
“He called me Momma, because I am his adopted mother. I adopted him 500 years ago, after his parents were killed. I kinda…lied when I told you how I got the jewel fragment.” Kagome felt Shippou’s inquisitive gaze on her, and she squeezed his hand.

“You lie again, onna. You would be dead if that were true.” Hiei narrowed his eyes at her, and she sighed.

“Fine! I suppose I can trust you all. Besides, I have the feeling you won‘t stop bugging me until I do... When I was 15-”

“Kagome!” Kagome was cut off by a tall woman carrying two wriggling children. They both looked to be about six. She set the kids down and hugged Kagome. “I bet you don’t remember me!” The woman was smiling as Shippou went to her, hugging her waist.

“Um…” Kagome thought hard, but nothing came to mind. “Sorry, I wish I could remember you…”

This didn’t seem to phase her and she swiftly detached herself from Shippou. “I’m Souten, Kagome! Sister of Hiten and Manten, and mate of the great Shippou.” The two mates looked briefly at each other, before Souten wrapped Kagome in her arms.

“Souten?! You and Shippou-Wow!” Kagome breathed, astonished. “I’m so happy for you two! And you both are so big! The last time I saw you Souten, you were so little! Then again, Shippou isn‘t exactly the little kit that used to sit on my shoulder and whine anymore, but still! Wow!” Kagome hugged Souten back, and smiled at the pair, happy tears which could only have belonged to a mother in her eyes.

“Hey kid, stop poking me!” All eyes were on Kuwabara as he tried to defend himself from the assault of two energetic demons. They were circling around him with their demon speed, lunging in every few seconds to poke and prode and the frustrated and bewildered man. The others laughed, and Shippou called the little devils back.

“Reiji! Mika! Stop pestering the poor ninjen and come over here!” The two children wore identical pouts, but retreated to their father. “Kagome, these are my children. The twins, Reiji” He glanced over at the boy with pride. He had most of Souten’s traits, but Shippou’s eyes. “and Mika.” The girl was an exact mix of the two, with black and auburn hair, and green eyes. She had her mothers face. “Reiji, Mika, this is your Grandma, Kagome.”

“Oh Shippou, they are beautiful!” The twins had gone over to examine their new Grandma, who had kneeled down to be at their level.

“I’m not beautiful! Men aren’t beautiful!” Reiji huffed and Kagome giggled.

“So you’re our Grandma! Daddy has told Mika lots and lots about you! Mommy said we’d get to meet you, but Mika and Reiji weren’t sure! You’re not old. Are you sure you’re our grandma?” The little girl climbed onto Kagome’s back, and was joined a second later by Reiji. Kagome stood, as the little ones were very light and she was used to carrying heavy objects during her time in the past.

“Mika, what have I told you about talking like that?” Souten scolded lightly.

“Mika is--I mean, I’m sorry Momma.”

“Aww, Souten, I think it’s cute! Mika, I’m sure that I’m your grandma, although it sounds a little weird, your dad being older than me and all. What has Shippou told you two? I hope its nothing bad!” She looked at Shippou accusingly, who just smiled innocently.

“Dad told Mika and I that you’re a miko.” The word held a tone of awe from the little boy. “He also said you’ll spoil us and give us lots and lots of stuff if we‘re good, but if we’re bad you’ll turn us into toad youkai like Jaken!” Reiji piped up. Kagome raised her eyebrow at Shippou. “Oh did he? Well if your daddy’s ever mean to you, let me know, and I’ll turn him into a toad youkai like Jaken with my ‘powers.’” This earned a cheer from the two kids, who scrambled off the miko’s back and up to their father.

“You hear that daddy! You gotta be good now too!” Mika grinned revealing a gap where her front teeth should be.

“Kagome?” A deep voice cut through the merriment, and she turned towards it’s source.

“Yes, Yusuke?”

“Do you mind explaining what the hell is going on?!” Yusuke had a look of utter confusion on his face, as did Kuwabara. Kurama’s face was serious, and Hiei had no expression at all.

“Yes, Kagome, I do believe you owe us an explanation.”

Kagome felt a frown etch its way onto her face as she looked over at the four. “I guess I can’t avoid it forever. Shippou, do know a place where we can all go sit and get acquainted?”
He smiled reassuringly, and nodded. “Of course Kagome. The study is this way.” Shippou snuck a glance at the odd group, before grabbing Kagome’s hand and leading her towards the room. Souten and the twins were next to follow, and soon disappeared from sight. Not wanting to get lost or miss the explanation, the remaining occupants followed after quickly.

“Shippou, Souten, Reiji, Mika, these are my new friends. That red headed one with the weird aura is Kurama, the black haired punk is Yusuke, Kuwabara is the slightly slower one who the kids were messing with earlier, and that sulky one is Hiei.” Kagome introduced as she settled herself into the study.

It was elegant and simple at the same time, humbly confessing the wealth that lay with those that dwelled here. The miko chose a crimson silk armchair, and allowed herself to relax into it. “Where’s Lord Sesshomaru, Shippou?”

“Out scouting the lands, he should be back soon. Did you come to see him? Why are you here by the way?” His voice was inquisitive, but not rude in the slightest. In fact, it held a large amount of tenderness as he watched his mother run her fingers through her hair in a tired and tense manner.

“Well, I suppose I should start from the beginning…It is after all, where most things start.” Kagome grinned lightly, and the twins gathered in front of her, sensing the approach of a story.

“On my fifteenth birthday, I went into the old abandoned well house at my shrine, after Souta had ran in there rather carelessly…” From there she drifted off into her encounter with Mistress Centipede, and the freeing of the hanyou Inuyasha. Even Shippou and Souten, who had lived through the tale, listened with rapt attention, especially when it contained stories of Shippou and Souten themselves. The tale was over quickly however, and Kagome felt herself holding back the ending in which only she and Inuyasha knew the intimate details.

“I went in the woods with Inuyasha to discuss…the shards, and in the middle of our discussion, the barriers had been erected, sending me into my own realm and world. That was six months ago for me, and since I’ve started looking for the jewel shards. Shippou…they’re here somewhere, but there’s an aura or something I can feel…It’s trying to hide them.” Kagome looked down upon the sleeping children as everyone lapsed into a tense silence, digesting the information.

Finally, Shippou spoke. “So that’s why you’re here Kagome? To get the shards?” Kagome nodded and looked into his eyes, watching them glint like steel. “Then, I’m coming with you. I’m not about to leave my mother alone in the Makai.” She stared at him sadly, and switched her gaze back down to the children, before moving onto the petite form of Souten.

“Shippou, you know I can’t let you risk that. You’ve got two little ones and a wife to watch after. That is, after all, why I asked for Sesshomaru. I’m gonna ask him to help.” Kagome noted both the resigned look on Shippou’s face, and the relief on Souten’s.

“I hate to admit it, but you’re right Kagome. I’ll go find him.” Shippou stood and hugged her, before grabbing the two sleeping ones and dragging them off to what Kagome presumed was their bedroom. Souten left and promised to return as soon as she had seen to her children. An awkward silence filled the room, but was thankfully broken by Yusuke.

“We’re going to help you Kagome.” The declaration caused all eyes to turn to him, inquisitively. Yusuke shifted slightly, feeling uncomfortable with all the attention on him. “I figured I’d tell you that now since any minute the toddler is going to tell us that that’s our new mission.” No sooner had he said that then four simultaneous beeping noises erupted in the room.

I just realized I contradicted myself. I said in chapter 2 that Youko was alive during the barriers erection, and Kagomes time in the Sengoku Jidai, but the I said that he was only 300 years old. Forgive me, and please maintain Youko’s age at 500 years, and present at that time!

RisikaFox: Thanks! I hope so…I’m kinda clueless on where I want it to go.

Kagome Lady Of Darkness:Thanks! I will try too!

Shiva Ice: Haha! That’s what most of my reviewers have told me. I shall think about it…

XHiei LoverX: I think I’ve narrowed it down between Hiei/K, Kurama/K, or Sess/K. I can’t let you know beyond there though, as that would spoil the mystery! Maybe I should give hints along the way?

Dark Angel Leigh: Thankies ^_^

AngelTsuki: I have!

Silver Miko: Hehe! Thanks, and I am, and the next update will most definitely make up for the lack of one here!!!!!!!!!
