A young man walked through the city with hands in his pockets and a scowl on his face. He had black slicked back hair that probably had almost a pound of gel in it. He wore a pair of jeans with a white tee shirt and a jean jacket over it along with a pair of sneakers. Easily he moved through the crowds on the sidewalk. A ringing sounded and he pulled a small circular compact from his pocket flipping it open. He frowned as he looked into the compact. A toddler was seen on the screen with a pacifier in his mouth and a large purple and pink hat with jr. on the front of it. He wore a purple and pink jacket and pants and immediately started yelling.
“Yusuke! I need you to come to my office immediately! You have a very important mission to do!”
The boy now known as Yusuke sighed shaking his head. “Yah, yah when isn’t it very important Toddler?”
“But Yusuke, this is a matter of safety for all the worlds especially the human world!”
“You told me I would have the damn week off. I’m not doing it I have a fucking date with Keiko tonight and I’m not missing it for some stupid ass mission.” With that he snapped the compact shut and stuffed it in his pocket before walking on heading for the movie theater to meet Keiko for their date.
As he got to the movie theater a man came running over to him waving idiotically with orange hair in an Elvis due. He was taller than Yusuke by a head and a half and wore jeans with a blue tee shirt on and a sweatshirt with the sleeves pushed past his elbows and a pair of sneakers.
“Hey! Urameshi! Where you going? Didn’t you hear we got a mission to do?”
“Yah I heard Kuwabara, but I ain’t going. The damn toddler said we would have the week off and I’m going to. Besides if I run out on Keiko again she is gonna kill me.”
“But it’s your job Urameshi! You gotta do it!”
“No Kuwabara I don’t and I don’t plan on it either. I have a date with Keiko tonight. Why don’t you come back tomorrow and I might go with you.”
“Yusuke!” A young girl yelled as she came through the crowd.
She had shoulder length brown hair and wore a knee length blue skirt with a white top and a matching blue sweater with just the top button done along with knee high white socks and brown shoes. Yusuke turned towards her and stepped around Kuwabara walking over to greet her.
Kuwabara turned around and at seeing the girl a goofy smile spread on his face. “Hey Keiko how you doing?”
“I’m doing well Kuwabara.”
“You ready for this movie Keiko?” Yusuke asked.
She nodded giving him a smile. “As long as you don’t plan on ditching me again Yusuke.”
“I ain’t gonna ditch you Keiko. I told the damn toddler that I wouldn’t go on the damn mission till tomorrow.”
“Well in that case let’s go!” She said brightly waving goodbye to Kuwabara as she dragged Yusuke to the theater to buy their tickets.
Kuwabara shook his head before walking away into the crowds.
After the movie ended Yusuke and Keiko walked out to find a woman with blue hair and pink eyes waiting for them outside the theater. She wore a pair of tight black pants with a black tank top and red jacket with a pair of black shoes.
“There you are Yusuke, I’ve been looking everywhere for you. Koenma needs you to come to his office right now for a mission.”
“Damnit Botan I told the freaking toddler that I wasn’t going on the damn mission. I’m on a fucking date right now!” Yusuke yelled at the woman.
“Well I am sorry Yusuke but the fate of the three worlds is a little more important than one date. No offense Keiko.” Botan said glaring at Yusuke.
“None taken Botan. Yusuke and I were just parting anyway.” Keiko said with a smile. She turned towards Yusuke her smile fading till she looked at him with a perfectly serious face. “Now Yusuke, I very much enjoyed this date and expect that you won’t be late or miss our next one because of this mission. Good luck and don’t die on me.”
“Uhmm yah, of course not Keiko.” Yusuke rubbed the back of his head at her mood changes before she walked off sighing slightly.
Botan quickly grabbed his arm dragging Yusuke to an alley where she opened a portal. “Now come on everyone else is already there waiting for you!”
She dragged him through the portal into Koenma’s office. Kuwabara was already there with his arms crossed tapping one foot while waiting for Yusuke. A man with long red hair down to the middle of his back and green eyes stood there as well the picture of calm and collectedness. He wore a white fighting kimono with purple trim and a matching purple and yellow sash with black shoes.
“Ahh Yusuke it is nice to have you join us.” He said as he saw Botan drag in Yusuke.
“Hey Kurama, Hiei.” He nodded to the red head and a shorter man leaning against the wall. He had crimson eyes with gravity defying black hair with a white starburst in the middle. Hiei wore a black cloak with sleeves and a white scarf around his neck.
Hiei responded with a simple nod before looking back to the toddler sitting behind the desk.
“Well now that everyone is here we need to get started. Reports have started coming in stating that a very large number of demons some of extraordinary power have been gathering in the Makai. We don’t know what they are doing but it is very close to the border between the worlds and with the barrier gone there is nothing to stop these demons from entering the human world and destroying it.” Koenma said getting more stressed and high pitched the more he spoke.
“So we just have to go and get rid of all the demons right?” Yusuke asked ready to walk out of the office.
“Uhmm well not quite. First I need you to go to this village, and I do mean village not town. They do not take kindly to strangers but there is something there you need to retrieve which will help you along on your mission.”
“What!!! You mean you called all of us here just to go on some stupid pick up!!! Why couldn’t you have Botan go instead?!” Yusuke yelled storming up to the desk.
“I called you to do it now just go you don’t have time to stand here and argue with me!” Koenma hit a button on his desk and a portal opened beneath Yusuke’s feet.
Kuwabara slowly crept up to the portal looking in. “Ehhh are you sure it’s safe in there…?”
“Why don’t you find out moron.” Hiei said before knocking him into the portal before jumping in himself.
Kurama sighed softly before moving to drop into the portal while shaking his head.
Yusuke landed in a forest on his back with just enough time to yell slightly before Kuwabara fell on top of him. Hiei easily landed on a tree limb looking down at them with a sneer. Kurama landed on the ground next to the pair that was now fighting. He moved to lean against the tree Hiei stood in watching Yusuke and Kuwabara fight.
“You do know that if you finished fighting we could continue on and complete this mission quickly.” Kurama said calmly smiling slightly as the two jumped apart. Yusuke grumbled under his breath about stupid toddlers and stupid missions as they started walking towards where the village was. Well three of them walked while the fourth was just a black blur jumping through the trees.
As night fell Yusuke got even louder with his grumbling. “Goddamnit couldn’t that fucking toddler have at least put us in the damn village instead of having to fucking hike there. Now we have to camp out in the fucking woods!”
Kurama with the help of Kuwabara got a small fire going and had a stack of fire wood nearby for the night. “Yusuke instead of complaining why don’t you try helping, it may help make the time pass quicker.”
“Yah yah yah so what should I do Fox boy?” Yusuke asked.
“Well Yusuke you could go out and find some dinner for us. A few rabbits or something like that should be good.”
A grumbling Yusuke stood up and stomped out of camp into the woods to hunt. A short while later he came back tossing three rabbits onto the ground in front of Kurama.
“Hey Urameshi! How do you expect us to eat something as cute as a bunny for dinner?” Kuwabara asked.
“Simple Kuwabara, you skin it, clean it, cook it, and eat it. It’s not that hard.”
“Well I ain’t gonna eat it, I’ll find something else to eat.”
“Whatever…” Yusuke sat down leaning against a tree relaxing with his eyes closed as Kurama worked on preparing the rabbits.
While the rabbits cooked over the fire everyone relaxed leaning against nearby trees or in Hiei’s case in a tree. A rustling could be heard from the bushes nearby causing Yusuke and Kuwabara to both jump to their feet ready to attack whatever it was that was coming, while Hiei simply looked over at the bushes not really bothering with it and Kurama slowly stood up taking a few steps closer. Out of the bushes limped a dark grey fox with white tipped ears and five white tipped tails with blood red eyes.
The fox had a gash along its midsection and right front leg. It saw them growling slightly before its eyes clouded over slightly and it passed out. Kuwabara kneeled down picking the fox up.
“Hey guys we gotta help the little fox it’s hurt and cute.”
Kurama sighed and moved to gently take the fox from Kuwabara so he could tend to its wounds.
“You can’t really mean to keep that thing and help it heal do you Kurama.” Hiei spoke from in the tree.
“We can’t just leave the little thing hurt Hiei, there’s no honor in that.” Kuwabara stated glaring up a Hiei.
“This is a demon fox Kuwabara she most likely would have healed on her own given some time. But to humor you I shall wrap her wounds though she probably will not be here in the morning. Now let’s all eat and get some rest.” Kurama said as he finished bandaging the fox and set her on some soft ground before passing out pieces of the rabbits.
They all finished eating before going to sleep for the night though Hiei stayed in a light sleep in case any attacks happened in the night.
