Chapter 4: At the house
I'm going to die.
Really, I am going to die.
Gosh, I'm so young you know…
I had wanted a wife, a house, a few kids…
But I guess I can forget about that now…
That I'm dying.
That was Kurama's train of thought as he stood in front of Shalla's house, waiting for her parents to open the door. He knew they would hate him. They had to. He, himself, wasn't quite sure if he would trust himself to take care of Shalla if he were her parents.
Why?
Because right now, though he knew he was leading himself to certain death, he felt that all he wanted to do was get a chance to wrap his arms around her. He had relished it when she had touched his face; her fingers were so soft.
No, he could not be distracted right now. No, he had to figure out a way to survive his execution.
What would he say to them?
How would he act?
Would they demand certain things from him that he didn't want to give?
He had to admit that this was a lot to go through just to go out with a girl. But he didn't mind, really. He wanted to get to know Shalla.
Gosh, what was taking so long?
Were her parents deaf or something?
“Don't you have a key or anything to get in the door because we've been standing here for a while?”
“Well, I do, but I don't know what's taking them? They like to answer the door themselves just so they know who is entering their house.”
Kurama made a face at her that clearly said that her parents were very weird and strict
Shalla started fidgeting herself and said “Okay, I guess I can let us in this time but we have to stay in the living room or they'll freak if they find me with a boy in my room.”
She took a key out of the back pocket of her jeans, which led Kurama's eyes to a spot he did not need to be looking at, and she opened the door.
Kurama's first vision was of a fire-breathing dragon coming forward to eat him.
But when his mind settled down, he realized that it was just a border-collie dog that had jumped up on him as soon as he had walked in the door.
He was shocked at first, but it was a really cute dog so he petted its head.
“What's his name?” he asked Shalla.
“It's a girl, and her name is Miyouko. She's about 5yrs old or 35 in dog years.”
Kurama smiled at the dog. Shalla told the dog to get down, and the dog moved.
Now that he didn't have a giant canine on his chest, Kurama used his chance of freedom to look around.
Everywhere on the wall there were pictures. He wasn't sure who of the people her parents were, but he recognized her. There were baby pictures, and it seemed that there was a picture for every year of Shalla's life. He watched as she went form a scrawny little kid, to a not fully developed teenager, to the woman she was now.
His gaze led him to the rest of the house. There was a cream colored sofa, with a piano in the far corner of the room; A loveseat, a TV, and more pictures. Light spilled into the living room from a window that was in the kitchen that you had to get through from the door in the middle of the living room.
“You have a nice house,” he said.
“Thank you,” she said while tucking her hair behind her ear in a movement that brought his attention to her ear.
Then her nose.
Then her mouth.
A mouth he wanted to kiss.
He couldn't help it but he found himself walking toward her.
When close, he touched her arm and traced her finger down her skin.
She shivered form the sensation.
She looked up at him with expectance in her eyes, knowing what he wanted and wanting it too.
He moved his face closer to hers.
Closer…
Almost there…
A few more centimeters…
He could feel the breath on her face…
Then all of a sudden, a masked murder along with his accomplice walked in the door.
THANKS ALL FOR READING, PLEASE REVIEW, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
