Chapter 3: PLANS FOR LATER

“RING, RING, RING.” Everyone rushed out of class, hands tired and ready to fall off from writing 10 pages of notes from the teacher's class. Kurama watched as Shalla quickly grabbed her books and made her way out of class. Kurama did the same and rushed out to find her. He spotted her about to turn the corner when he ran and grabbed her arm. She stopped and turned to look at him.

“Hey, it's you again.”

“Yeah, I'm sorry for bothering you, but I wanted to ask you if you might like to go out with me some time. You know, maybe this weekend or something.”

She was quiet for a moment. Kurama was so scared. He could feel the sweat running down his back.

“Um, well my parents are really strict and they don't really want they're little girl dating anyone.”

Kurama felt his heart sank.

“But, I think you're a nice guy so they might like you. If you have the time, you can meet me in the front of the school at the end of the day and I'll walk you to my house. If you meet my parents and they like you then sure you can go out with me. But if not, then I'm sorry.”

Kurama stood and digested what she had said. He had to meet her parents to get permission to date her. Meet the people that made this beautiful creature. What if they didn't like him? What if they were mean?

In truth, Kurama didn't care. As long as he got to be with Shalla.

“Ok,” he said, not knowing what he had gotten himself into.

“It's okay, they'll like you I swear,” she said sensing his distress.

She reached to touch his face but stopped midair, realizing what she was doing.

Kurama grabbed her hand and put it to his face. She rubbed her fingers on his soft skin.

“Kurama, we got to go to class.”

K came back from his dream world, and Shalla jerked her hand away from Kurama's grasp.

“I, I, got to go. I'll see you after school.”

She rushed away and Kurama felt really sad for some reason because maybe he didn't get to tell her goodbye.

He turned to Hiei, who had spoken to him.

“Yeah, we got to go to class” he said, not really paying attention to anything. Hiei had to lead him to class. Once there, Kurama was stopped by a girl.

“Hey, K,” she said, “I missed you.” Kurama looked down at the girl that looked so wrong. She didn't have the right hair color which should be crimson, the right height which should be 5'4 or 5'5, the right outfit which should be a pink shirt with white stripes and jeans, and her name was not Shalla.

It was Marigold.

“What do you want?” he aid annoyed.

“You,” she replied while wrapping her arms around him.

Kurama found that this girl was really annoying him. Marigold had been vying for Kurama's attention since 4th grade. Now that he was in 11th grade, she was 3 times as annoying as she used to be. She couldn't get it into her head that he didn't want her. Not that she was ugly; she was one of the most popular girls in school and beautiful at that. But she was selfish, mean, and shallow. She wanted everything for herself.

“Please, not today Marigold. I don't feel like dealing with you.”

He had sparked her anger already.

“Why, why don't you want ME. Do you know who I am? Everyone wants ME. What's the problem, K? You don't have a girlfriend, but a lot of girls want you. I want you. So why don't you want me?”

Someone yelled out in class, “Because he wants that new girl, Shalla.”

“What new girl, I didn't know we had a new student here.”

“Yeah, he was in the hallway with her during 4th period.”

Marigold turned her blue eyes on him in a death stare.

“You like this girl Kurama.”

“Marigold, please-”

“Do you like her?!!!” she screamed.

Kurama put his hands on top of his head, sighing deeply.

“Yes.”

Marigold sucked in her breath. She rushed from the class in a hurry.

All of a sudden Kurama felt very, very, tired. Hiei sat next to him and was about to speak when their teacher came in and told them to get started with the work on the board.

Silently, Kurama hoped that his problems with Marigold were over. But he didn't know that outside of class, Marigold was plotting a plan that very moment to get rid of this Shalla.
