Triple the Pain
Hiei watched as Kurama and Ria walked off laughing. So I was right. He did want a ningen onna. Hiei could feel his heart cringing. He couldn't stand looking at Kurama and the girl. He closed his eyes and flitted away.
Kurama arrived home after walking Ria home. They talked about class, movies, music, and other things. Amazingly, Ria likes to garden as well. Kurama couldn't believe there was a ningen that could love the good Earth like he did. He walked through his front door and into his room.
“Maybe I'll grow a beautiful red rose for her?”
“Would you now?”
Kurama looked over to his open window. He didn't even sense Hiei.
“Why are you here?”
“Yusuke asked me to retrieve you.” Hiei kept his scowl as he flitted out of the window
Kurama sighed hard and heavy then proceeded to Spirit World.
“As you can see. This is a shadow demon. We haven't got a positive id yet, you should know that these youkai feed off their victim's life force.” Koenma smiled; proud that he had some new information
“Well that's all nice and dandy. But how about you tell us where the son of a bitch is gonna strike.” Yusuke complained
“Yes, or what he looks for in a victim.” Kurama added
“Well I was about to when I was so rudely interrupted.” He glared at Yusuke, “Apparently it's looking for victims young and vivacious. Otherwise, full of life and energy. I'm surprised it hasn't tried to gobble one of you up yet.”
“Yeah well, now that I know, Kuwabara is on the case.” Kuwabara pumped his fist in the air.
“Oh please. All you're good for is bait.” Hiei shook his head
“Shut up shrimp.”
“You...”
“Now stop it you two.” Botan fisted her hands on her hips, “ You guys are acting like a couple of children.”
Hiei grunted and retreated from the group.
“Why that little weasel.”
“Just let it go Kuwabara.” Kurama shook his head and left as well.
On his way back he thought about Hiei and Ria. Then he remembered the rose. It was already dark so he couldn't see her, so a thought entered his mind.
“I'll just give it to her after school.”
Kurama quickly walked toward his house when a shadow caught his eye. He immediately thought of the youkai and followed it. Down the alley, all the way downtown in an empty space behind the buildings. Kurama heard a familiar scream as he followed the youkai. In the corner he found Ria being towered over by the kage youkai. Before he could call out her name, a bright silver light hit the creature pushing it backward. From the top of the roof a man with long silver hair and skin the color of the moon, dressed in black fell to the ground. He walked to the youkai hands dripping with ki. Ria stood and the man quickly barked a command in a strange language. Ria eyed the man angrily and stood walking to his side. She then spoke the unknown language back to the man. The two began to argue as the kage youkai recovered and ran toward them. Ria stomped her feet, pointed her finger and then let loose a ki strike that hit the kage youkai and devoured it in it's blue light. She then turned headed for the alley Kurama was in. Kurama knew she shouldn't see him. With the stealth from the centuries of the being a thief, he ran down alley way before she saw him. She walked out of the alley with the man behind her.
“I would appreciate it if you wouldn't follow me everywhere I go.”
“But I am your guardian Ria, I...”
“I don't need a guardian. What I need is a normal life.” She crossed her arms in frustration
“You know that demon was looking for you.”
She shrugged, “What's new?”
He sighed and tried to comfort her. She pushed him away from her.
“Just please let me be Masashi. If I am slain, than that shall be my fate. I can defend myself to some extent you know.”
“I know but...”
She had walked away by then and went in the direction of her house. All Kurama could do was put his hand on his chin. Now this is quite interesting.
The next morning he arrived on Ria's doorstep to walk her to school.
“Shuuichi ” She gasped in surprised, “What are you doing here?”
He pulled a rose from behind his back. “I just had to give this to you.”
“Aw, you're so sweet.” She lightly kissed him on the cheek, “I don't know how I could repay you.”
Kurama shook his head, “There's no need to repay me. But we should be leaving soon though.”
“And you're walking me to school too?” She smiled sweetly and hugged him.
As they ate lunch Kurama had to fight the urge to ask her about the man with the silver hair. But then he didn't want to have explained his situation either. He felt like she did sometimes, all he wanted was a normal life with no demons or spirit detectives.
“You know what?” Ria asked
“What?”
“We should try growing something together.”
He smiled and nodded, “Yes, that would be a good idea. What are you doing after school?”
“I've math homework, and then I'm free for whatever.”
He nodded, “We'll start after school then.”
He looked at her the rose sitting on the table sticking out of a paper cup with water in it, “How about roses.”
She looked at the red flower and smiled, “You grow them so strongly, it should have withered some what by now.”
“Thank you. I'll show you a few of my gardening secrets.” He winked
After School
Kurama sat in Ria's garden watching her do homework.
“Alright, I'm done.” She got up and walked to him, “Ok what's the first step Shuuichi-sensei.”
Kurama laughed and patted the spot next to him, “I picked this spot because it seems to have the best soil.”
She nodded, “Do you have the seeds?”
“Yes.” He pulled the seeds from his pocket, “Now let's dig a hole.”
She grabbed the gardening shovel from a bag of tools. She stuck it in the soil and just as she was about to bring it out she felt Kurama's hand wrap around hers. She smiled as the both dug up the dirt. With a hole dug neatly in the ground, Ria dropped the seeds in and covered them with the moist soil. Kurama watered the seeds and they watched the spot with pride.
“I can't wait till it grows.” She beamed up at Kurama
Kurama nodded silently. He couldn't help but be lost in her eyes. Before he knew it his hand had reached out and caressed her cheek. Her eyes widened as she laid her hand over his. His lips closed in on hers. She closed her eyes as she felt his lips claim hers. A slight moan slipped from her as one of Kurama's hands cup the side of her face, and the other pulled her closer to him. Kurama felt himself give up to a strange passion that seemed to have washed over him. His hands caressed her body as their kiss deepened. The kiss was ended as she pulled away and gasped. His hand had found its way between her legs. Her hand covered her mouth as Kurama stuttered out an apology.
“G..go...gomen.”
She shook her head giggled, “Don't apologize I really like you, but let's take things slow.”
Kurama nodded, but this time it was Ria who initiated the kiss.
When Kurama arrived home he felt light and wonderful. He quickly showered and was in bed. As he lay there his mind was on Ria, and he struggled with himself not wanting to pleasure his member with her on his mind. But he was enchanted by her, and maybe that was what she was, an enchantress. And that's where his loving thoughts came to a halt. They weren't two normal teens, and he had seen what happened last night. He sighed and closed his eyes. I don't want to think about it.
The next day Kurama found himself in front of Koenma with the others.
“Apparently someone else has the ability to fight demons besides yourselves. According to my sources the youkai was eliminated by someone besides yourselves.”
“Do you think it was another youkai sir?” Botan asked
“We're not sure.” Koenma sighed, “But I suggest you keep your eyes peeled, understood?”
They nodded their heads and headed home. Kurama's mind was jumbled by thought of Ria. I have to talk to her about it. She did say that youkai come after all the time...maybe we could help her. But she said she wanted a normal life, and wouldn't helping her make it even abnormal. Even I being her life as I am makes it abnormal. Kurama sighed; he didn't know what to do. And then his thoughts went to the strange man. Who is he to her?
Kurama had walked to her house and entered her garden. And what he had walked in on was a very serious conversation. Ria was yelling at the man in the strange language. His presence brought the man's eyes to his position. Ria whirled around and look in surprise.
“Shuuichi”
“Did I interrupt anything?”
She sighed, “No Masashi was just leaving.” She glared at the man
He crossed his arms and kissed her cheek on the way out. Her eyes shamed away from Kurama, and she waited till the man left to look at Kurama again. By then a sad expression had possessed his face. He didn't even want to talk about him; he didn't want to know if his Ria belonged to someone else.
“That was...”
“I don't want to know.” Kurama snapped harshly, he didn't mean to make it sound as mean as it came out. “I came here to talk to you.”
“Kurama,” Ria sighed, “He's my guardian, like a big brother.”
Kurama tucked his hands into his pockets and approached her, “I wanted to ask you about that youkai you killed two nights ago.”
Ria gasped and put her hand over her mouth, “You saw that?”
“Yes and I need to know where you came from and what you're doing here?”
“You must think I'm some kind of freak.” Tears welled up in her eyes
“No,” Kurama sighed deeply, “I'm partially youkai myself.”
She looked at him in awe, “What kind?”
“That doesn't matter; I'd like you to answer my question.” He said sternly
The tears in her eyes fell, “You don't want me anymore, do you.”
Kurama's heart wrenched in his chest. “I do, but...I don't know if, never mind.”
“Masashi loves me, but I no longer feel anything for him.”
“But you did once?”
“That's the past, I want you Shuuichi.”
“Kurama, my name is Kurama.”
Her eyes widen, “Youko Kurama?”
He raised an eyebrow, “You know about me?”
“The great kitsune thief, hai.”
He rubbed the back of his head nervously. But his nervousness passed as soon as her lips took his. She opened her mouth to allow him access to her warm sweet cavern. Kurama pulled her closer to him, plunging his tongue in and out of her mouth.
She ended the kiss and looked into his eyes, “I have fantasized about you since I read about you. I fell in love with your legend, with you. I guess that's why I feel so strongly for you.”
He smiled and sighed, “But you didn't answer my question.”
She pulled out of his embraced and took his hand, “Come inside and I shall explain.”
Kurama nodded and followed her.
From the backyard tree Hiei watched. His eyes narrowed with hate. How could he be keeping a secret like this? Maybe I should have...No, Kurama is fickle, I meant nothing to him.
