Chapter 1: The Fall From Heaven
Kurama walked to class with his little fan girls trailing behind with drool escaping their mouths. Some of them didn't just stare; the brave ones actually talked to him and carried a conversation. Either way, Kurama wasn't interested in them. Kurama looked back at them and inwardly sighed. He turned the corner and looked onward to where his class room was. All he had left was Classic English Studies and he knew that it would require him to do nothing. He felt so bored; no cases were coming in lately that required him. Suddenly, the room froze. Everything slowed down, to a halt. The chatter in the hallway's stopped and the nosey footsteps of fan girls quit.
"Kurama." A voice said behind him. It was accompanied with a few giggles that Kurama easily recognized. Kurama casually turned around to see Koenma with Botan standing behind him. Botan was smiling and Koenma was in his teen form. Kurama walked around the frozen fan girls and were glad that for once they didn't follow.
"Hello Botan, Koenma…" Kurama said as he gave a small bow. Koenma nodded and pulled out a piece of paper. Koenma handed it to Kurama who read it and was quite shocked by it.
"So one has actually escaped down to the Ningenkai?" Kurama looked at the ruler of the Spirit World, who nodded. Kurama smiled and stepped foreword. In a blink they were gone and in the Spirit World where they were greeted bye Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Hiei. The guys were standing around the large palace, waiting for Koenma and Botan to come back with Kurama. When they spotted the three come through a portal from the Ningenkai, Yusuke and the guys walked over to Kurama.
"New case, cool, it's been a while!" Yusuke said, still with his cocky tone that he always seemed to have. Kuwabara laughed with his friend and Kurama just watched the two.
"So, what's up with this angel thing? I thought Heaven didn't exist; since there is the Spirit World, you know…" Kuwabara said very confused. Hiei simply sighed and began a speech.
"Heaven is one of the Paradises in the Spirit World, idiot. An Angel is a person who is quiet exceptional, they never died, but instead were born into death. They are mystical creatures that have special abilities or powers." Hiei said and turned away. Kurama was surprised that Hiei knew so much about Angels and the Paradise of Heaven; it wasn't like knowing about the purest creatures was on Hiei's homework list. Kuwabara looked a bit less confused, but prodded for more information.
"That's right Hiei, and the Celestial Angel fell from Heaven last night. She is very EXCEPTIONAL, and must be found." Koenma said as they walked into the palace. They walked up hall ways and into Koenma's office. Koenma sat at his desk, and the TV. screen lowered.
"Here is some basic info about her." Koenma said while pressing the play button on his controller. A screen showed up with a blurry picture on it of a figure in white with long white hair. It was too bright to make out any other feature on her.
"She is a legendary Celestial Angel, and she has extraordinary powers. Last night, when she was supposed to be asleep in the Royal Palace, she escaped with the help of one of the servants who is also missing. She is very important to the race of Angels, and needs to be brought back, unharmed. That means you Hiei, don't you dare harm her, or you'll receive a punishment so severe….." Koenma's teenage face scrunched up in a menacing way as he warned Hiei before continuing.
"We believe that she has taken a human form, so it might be hard to find her, but we are positive that she is in the city where you all live. She'll probably enroll in a school, so that means you actually have to ATTEND school Yusuke!" Koenma finished. Kurama couldn't take his eyes off of the screen, the light was so bright. He though about what she would look like. Yusuke and Kuwabara were talking about how hot she probably was, and then Kuwabara hit Yusuke because he had Keiko. Hiei did seem a bit interested, considering he never had to capture an angel before.
"Angels never leave their Paradise; what made her leave?" Hiei questioned Koenma. Koenma gave him a look of impatience for his question, knowing that Hiei wouldn't let him ignore the question.
"She left because of certain things, Hiei. Things that I'm not allowed to say." Koenma mumbled, a bit annoyed that Hiei was asking questions when he normally just wanted to go after the person.
"Ok boys, time to go! We will be spending the next few nights at Genkai's, so go home and pack, and then we will meet there." Botan said, extra cheery. She was so excited to finally get to meet a real angel.
The guys went back to the Ningenkai and packed, and then met at Genkai's temple. It was going to be quiet a long night.

Kurama awoke early and took a shower. He walked back to his room and put on his school uniform, and grabbed his school bag. For some reason, he wanted to get to school early that morning, to see if the angel was there. He walked down the street and yawned, taking in all the numerous amounts of people on the street. As Kurama turned a corner, he saw a familiar face walking with a beautiful girl he didn't recognize
"Kido Asato!" Kurama called to the older teen. Kido turned around and recognized the red head strolling towards him. Kurama smiled at Kido and Kido smiled back.
"Ah, Shuichi, it's nice to see you again. Are you staying at Master Genkai's?" Kido asked, carrying on a normal conversation.
"Yes, I'm staying there for a while. I couldn't help but notice your new friend wears the girl's uniform to my school…"Kurama mentioned as Kido looked at the girl's pink uniform for Mieou High. Kurama stared at the girl for a moment and nearly lost his breath.
She had long flowing white blonde hair that was a bit curly and blew in the fall breeze. Her bangs barely covered up her bright blue eyes. Those eyes starred at Kurama and blinked. They were the brightest blue that he had ever seen, brighter then any ocean or body of water. They looked as blue as the sky. The girl's skin was tan, as if she had been to a beach lately. She smiled weakly at Kurama, who had seemed to lose all sense of manners, since he was staring with his mouth almost open.
"Yeah, Satu is going to Mieou High. I was just walking her there because she is new. Shuichi, you ok?" Kido stared at the kitsune. Kurama regained his composer and the girl smiled. She stuck out her hand to shake it, and Kurama took it.
"Hello Satu, I'm Shuichi Minamino. Pleased to meet you." Kurama gave the girl one of his charming smiles. She gave him a smile that dazzled.
"Hello Shuichi. I'm Satu Wakiyama, or just Satu. It's nice to meet some new people. I'm a transfer student." Satu said. Her voice was sweet and delicate, and rang like a crystal bell. Kurama noticed that she was looking around everywhere like a tourist.
"I would love it if I could walk with you to school Satu. I could show you around." Kurama said, trying to be as charming as possible. Satu looked at him and tried hard not to stare into his emerald green eyes, but they drew her in, and she could only nod.
"Hey, Shuichi, make sure she gets there safe ok? I'll see you after school at Genkai's. Later Satu, I'll call to make sure you're home!" Kido walked away while waving to the two. Kurama lead and Satu followed him, close behind.
"So Satu, you are a transfer student? I'm sure you will love Mieou High School, and if you need anything, please let me know." Kurama walked as Satu practically floated behind him. He turned around to catch her staring at his hair.
"Um, is there something in my hair?" Kurama said confused. Satu walked up to his scarlet tresses and took a bunch of them in her hand. She felt them and then laughed.
"No Shuichi, it's just…..where I come from, there isn't a hair color like this……" Satu giggled and Kurama managed a little laugh. The two continued walking along the side walk until they came to the school yard. Kurama knew that he would be run over by fan girls, so he decided that he would keep Satu near him and maybe get a break from the obnoxious girls trailing him everywhere.
"Shuichi, why are all of these girl's running towards you?" Satu said. Kurama looked ahead and saw a crowd of fan girls running towards them. Some looked angry, some looked pleased, and some didn't look because others were throwing them selves over each other to get to him.
"Please play along Satu…." Shuichi whispered in Satu's ear. Satu nodded and let Shuichi slip his hand in hers. He walked foreword and pulled her behind him. She walked beside him and they walked right through the fan girl mob. The girls had made a path for Shuichi and the Chosen One. Some of the girls cried and some were giving angry looks, but Satu didn't notice because could only feel Shuichi's pulse in her hand.
Once Kurama pulled Satu inside, there was a sudden swarm of people surrounding Satu. Kurama lost her hand and almost was trampled by all of the guys that went straight for her. A hint of jealously crept up into his veins.
"Shuichi, where are you?!" Satu cried. Some guys where pulling her along down the hall, trying to look at her schedule, and she looked scared of all the attention. Kurama quickly got in to where she was and grabbed her hand.
"Come on Satu, we have to go to class." Kurama led Satu away from all of the guys who were obviously feeling pissed off that Shuichi got every girl. Satu relaxed as she sat next to Shuichi in their class room. Shuichi placed Satu's books down on her desk as everyone watched. He had offered to help her, and she was afraid to say no.
"Class, we have a new student. Her name is Satu Wakiyama, please welcome her to our class room." Mr. Tendo said as he pointed to where Satu was sitting. He motioned for her to get up, so she stood and everyone in the class stared at her. Some guys were drooling, some girls where just staring, and some people gave her a confused look.
"I feel like I've known her my entire life…" A girl whispered to another.
"She is so beautiful…..I wonder if she is single…" A guy whispered to his friends.
"Miss. Wakiyama, please have a seat. Minamino, I trust that you'll show the new student around school." Mr. Tendo said as he pulled out the day's lesson.
The school day seemed to pass by so quickly. The bell would ring, people would talk to Satu, Kurama would stay protectively at her side, and then the bell would ring again, and class would start. This was repeated quiet a few times before the final bell rang and it was time to clean up the class. Kurama and Satu weren't on duty that day, so they grabbed their stuff and headed for home.
"May I walk you home Satu?" Kurama asked her as she walked at his side. Satu seemed to be staring off into the distance, so Kurama tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"Shuichi, what's that?” Satu pointed to a large circus tent down at the park. Kurama stared at the tent and explained to Satu that it was a circus. She still didn't seem to understand. By then he was certain that she had to be the angel. It was almost too obvious.
"Have you ever been to one?" Satu finally said. Kurama thought about it for a moment and then nodded.
"Would you like to go sometime? I could show what I was talking about." Kurama said. Satu turned around to face Kurama. She was blushing a slight shade of pink as she and Kurama walked on until they were by another park with an expansive lake. She gazed at the glistening water and the cute ducks dipping their heads under the water as Kurama stepped foreword a bit. She looked up to find him standing right above her. Their eyes met and for once, Kurama felt like he had just been wiped clean of any evil doing. His body melted and his heart felt light; something it hadn't felt in a long time.
“I would enjoy that, all those flying people without wings and the people with large animals. Sounds like uhm… a … party!” Satu laughed. Her smile was genuine and Kurama felt her magnetic energy pull him in. She grabbed his hand and dragged him along a few streets until he realized that they stopped in front of a classy apartment building. Kurama stared at Satu and smiled. Her eyes were magnificent, just pure… PURE. She was so pure.
“I will see you in the morning then?” Kurama asked the girl as she nervously looked at her feet. She looked up and nodded, smiling and then running off. Kurama felt his heart skip a beat each step she took.
{Angel aye? That'd be a new one!}
{Shut up Youko. She's a case.}
{Yah, a case of…}
{SHUT IT!}
Kurama headed back over to Genkai's, his mind weighing the possibilities of Satu being the fallen angel. It was so likely that he wondered if she knew how obvious she was. It was like talking to Hiei.
{Except Hiei doesn't smile that like.}
“Smile like what fox?” Hiei growled. Kurama looked up at the youkai and waved. Hiei watched the fox walked into the temple and shut the door. It seemed that maybe he had a hard day. Either way, the fox was saying something about him and smiling and Hiei wanted to know what it was.

“Ahhhh!!!!” How can I let myself be that dumb! He could totally see that I'm not normal! OH CRAP! What am I gonna do?!” Satu fumbled with the coffee mug she was holding in her hands. She dropped the mug and it shattered on the floor.
“Oh no! I'm a mess… AND it's just my lucky day… I run into that boy… uh… what ever his name is! He's working for Enma! AHH!! I gotta talk to him, I can't go back!!” Satu slumped to the floor, her hands in her hair. She cursed herself for a few more minutes before remembering that she knew where the boy was. The nice neighbor boy, who also conveniently worked for Enma (his numbers were growing), mentioned something about a Genkai's place. It was a temple.
“I'll go and beg him! Right… Genkai's temple… Just got think about this for a second… OH! I'll ask the boy! Kido! Right… uhm… apartment 246 A,” Satu looked at her human body. It was weak and frail and she didn't feel like herself, but it was still better than being locked away in a castle. “I just gotta walk into enemy territory. Great. I pick the most exceptional ways to live…”

Hiei had been following Kurama around for an hour, pestering him to talk about what he refused to say. There was no way Kurama was going to tell Hiei that the super attractive angel reminded him of Hiei. That was a death sentence waiting to happen. Finally Kurama and the gang all joined together in the dining room to unwind, where Kurama could easily avoid talking about his day. A knock at the door proved to change that.
“Oi, look who it is! It's Kido! And he's brought a friend with!” Yusuke hollered from the door way. Kurama's heart sped up as he watched Kido walk into the room with Satu following closely behind him. She looked more gorgeous than she had before with a long white sundress and white shoes. Hiei watched the fox as his eyes got wide and as Kurama stood up to welcome the new ningen.
“Kido, who's this?” Genkai asked as she walked into the room and surveyed the girl. Undoubtedly Kido had brought the fallen angel straight to the Temple, but Genkai was positive that the girl knew exactly where she was. Perhaps there was more to the story then Koenma had led on.
“Satu Wakiyama, a real angel.” Kido smiled at Satu and she smiled back. Yusuke and Kuwabara spit out their drinks and the crashing sounds of Botan dropping dishes in the kitchen could be heard. At the mention of angel Hiei looked up sharply.
“Angel, hnn?” Hiei noted. Kido laughed at the Jaganshi and stared at Satu.
“She's my new neighbor, don't freak her out.” Kido watched as Kurama quickly pulled Satu outside and around the back of the temple. The entire gang looked up at Kido as if he had just brought the king of England into the Temple and didn't know it. “What? Did I say something wrong?” Kido asked the group. Genkai sighed and walked back to her room.

She seemed to glow in the night. He tried his best to take his eyes off of her so that he could get his thoughts straight. Satu looked down at her shoes before she could figure out what she was going to say.
“Is something wrong Satu?” Kurama asked the girl. He could see she was uneasy about being whisked away. He felt nervous that maybe he had judged her too soon. Satu looked up at the boy, the fox demon inside the boy. She could feel the hatred and rage stuck inside the youkai's heart. It pained her to feel all the mixed emotions inside the boy's head and heart. It was just a draw back, she needed to make him understand.
“Shuichi, can I tell you something? Uhm… but you can't tell your friends! Or anyone else…” Satu said, emphasizing the idea of anyone else being keen to the secret she was going to drop. Kurama had a feeling that she was going to finally tell him so he pretended to not know. He stared at her and waited for her to continue.
“This rules sound oddly specific.” Kurama added. Satu nodded and she paced for a few seconds. Her body felt odd, it was hot and muggy out and she was uncomfortable in her new skin.
“I'm an angel. There, I said it!” Satu said. She flailed around a bit more, talking to herself about how stupid she was to say that. Kurama started to chuckle. She really was too obvious.
“Satu, can I tell you something? But you can't tell any of your friends.” Kurama teased. Satu looked at the youkai and nodded. “I know you are. It was obvious.” Satu pouted and started talking about how she would have to go and leave and Kurama felt all frustrated watching her confuse herself. He reached out a hand and pulled her closer. Satu looked up at the fox demon and felt her body soften, her mind relax. Staring into his eyes, she could feel things slowly slip away, fears, worries, time. Her heart slowed down and her eyes felt heavy.
“Please… don't send me…ba…ck.” Satu mumbled as she fell to the ground. Kurama dropped to his knees and checked her pulse before he picked her up and dashed back towards the Temple. He wouldn't be able to explain to Koenma why his Angel was coming back dead. Kurama pounded on the temple back doors until Botan and Yukina opened it and ushered him in.
“Genkai!” Kurama busted into the living room where everyone was sitting, enjoying a card game. Genkai came running around the corner, flustered and wondering why her name was being called. Kido dropped his cards and looked up at his neighbor who looked pale and sickly.
“What did you do to her?! She looks dead!” Kido pointed out to Kurama. Hiei walked in through the front door and noticed the girl in white lying on the floor. He flitted over to where she was laying and watching as Genkai checked her pulse and vitals.
“We can't keep a dead girl here!” Kuwabara said stupidly, freaking out that the once alive girl had just fallen unconscious. Kurama glared at the idiot and Hiei checked her over. He walked over to where the girl lay and held her hand for a second.
“Earth energies are impure for an Angel, fox. You know that.” Hiei concentrated hard and forced some of his energy into the girl's body. Kuwabara and Yusuke looked at each other and then at the girl. Kurama watched as Satu's body gained back its color. Hiei let go of the girl's hand and walked back out of the room. Genkai checked the girl's vitals again.
“She's the angel?! No way! That was too easy!” Yusuke high-fived Kuwabara at a mission completed in record time. Keiko slapped Yusuke over the head. “I just meant that it's only been a day! She must have slipped up. Jeeze Keiko.” Yusuke pouted and held his head.
“What are we gonna do? We gotta get her back. Shorty's right for once, the energy on Earth is probably way too impure for her. She'll be sick!” Kuwabara said to Genkai and to Kurama. Kurama nodded, he knew that she would be sickly and frail, but there was more to it than Koenma was leading on. Even Genkai was suspicious about calling Koenma right away.
“Look, she's waking up…” Kido said as Satu opened her big blue eyes to a group of a bunch of people looking down at her. The first face she saw was Kurama's, his green eyes pleading for her to be alright. All around she could hear murmurs. Immediately she realized what had happened.
“Shuichi! You told!!” Satu bolted straight up and backed herself away from all the people in the room. Kido and Kurama looked at her with confusion and the old lady looked at her with a smirk.
“Please don't send me back!”
