“Shuichi! You told!!” Satu bolted straight up and backed herself away from all the people in the room. Kido and Kurama looked at her with confusion and the old lady looked at her with a smirk.
“Please don't send me back!”

Chapter 2: Prayers from Heaven
Satu stared at the group of people. Her eyes were starting to water naturally from being shocked and scared. Kurama held his hand out to Satu, he didn't want to frighten her, but he also couldn't let her run away.
“We aren't going to send you back. It's okay.” Kurama smiled a dazzling smile and Satu felt herself calm a bit. She grabbed Kurama's hand and he helped her up slowly while Genkai walked over to where the two stood.

”Why don't you stay here for a while? I'll let everyone introduce themselves to you later…” Genkai asked the white haired girl. Satu weighed her options and decided that it would be best to stay, that it would be safest for her to trust Shuichi and who she assumed was Genkai. Satu nodded and smiled politely. Genkai could feel the room lighten and everyone fall easily back into habit. “How about I show you a roo…” Genkai began but Hiei walked back in and pulled the girl down one of the halls towards an empty room. Kuwabara looked around at everyone's confused face.
“Did shorty just show her to a room? Am I the only one who noticed that?” Kuwabara and everyone else looked around in shock. It wasn't like Hiei to be forward in such a way with new people. Especially a mission.

Hiei opened a door to an empty room with a bed and a dresser. He watched the girl as she looked around and then turned to see him. Her blue eyes glowed in the dark room. They were filled with peace and serenity. Both were a luxury that Hiei had never been able to know or learn.
“Thank you…” Satu spoke softly. The boy looked at her and then turned around and walked out. Satu walked towards the bed and sat down, feeling alone in such a large space. It made her small apartment feel like a closet. Although she was pretty sure that her apartment was truly about the size of an overly large closet. She chuckled to herself and heard a knock on her door.
“Satu? It's me Genkai; I have some pajamas for you.” Satu went to the door and opened it for Genkai, who handed her a pair of black pajamas. They were a bit big on her, but she didn't complain. If anything, she felt she was lucky to still be on Earth and not stuck back in the castle.
“Lucky me, huh?” Satu sighed and curled up in the bed. It was cold, unlike the warm bed she always had in heaven. Besides, Emi wasn't with her so she couldn't ask the girl to bring her water or a snack or anything like that. Satu sat up and looked out the window. The moon hung softly in the sky, illuminating everything it touched. Satu smiled and thought about her promise to Emi, to feel the ningen grass under her feet and tell her about it. “Hmmmm…” Satu opened the window and jumped out onto the wet grass. Her feet slipped through it naturally and she ran around to the back of the temple where there was more to discover and more to feel and experience.

Kurama and Genkai sat down with the rest of the group to talk about what was going to happen. The two had discussed the possibility of something being very wrong with Koenma's explanation and decided that they would keep Satu's where-about a secret. The group agreed without much of a hassle. Botan agreed that she would continue to ask Koenma more questions about the case so that she might be able to learn something to help.
“And you think this will work? Keeping an angel here? Isn't that against the law or something old lady!” Yusuke accused Genkai. Genkai glared at Yusuke and the boy dropped the subject. He didn't like people not telling the whole story and he hated it even more when people sent him to do dirty work without an explanation. The toddler would have some talking to do before he would give any information about the angel's where about.
“I think I'm going to go check on Satu.” Kurama got up and Hiei stood to follow the fox. He still wanted to know what exactly was going on with the fox. And he still wanted answers to the question from earlier. No way was the fox going to evade him.

Satu danced across the wet grass outside in the moonlight. She fell a few times, her body not adjusted to the human world's balance and that she didn't have her wings to stabilize herself. It was an adventure that she was excited to be on.
“I see you are enjoying the night air.” Kurama whispered behind her. Satu fell over and looked up at the boy. His red hair and his green eyes looked wild and daring in the night. Behind him she could see one of the other boys sitting on the back porch of the temple, his hair standing on end, permanently.
“We don't have anything like this at home.” Satu said as she picked herself up. Kurama grabbed her hand and pulled her back towards the porch. Satu's heart beat quickly raced as she could again feel Kurama's pulse and warm hand in hers. She noted that when she saw Hitomi or Emi, she was going to tell them all about the wonderful emotions she got to feel as a human. Kurama sat down next to Hiei and motioned for Satu to sit next to him.
“What is your home like Satu?” Kurama asked the girl patiently, watching her soft facial features carefully; studying her movements. Satu looked out into the sky and thought for a while. It was a lot of things, but none of it was really easy to put into words.
“It's boring I guess. I wake up and then I have to study and go to classes. I have to stay in the castle ALL the time. It sucks.” Satu complained. Kurama and Hiei snapped their heads to look at her when she mentioned that Heaven “sucks”.
{I think I just reconsidered my faith…}
{You aren't even religious fox.}
{It was a joke Hiei…}
“Do you have any close friends who are worried about you? What about parents?” Kurama pushed forward with the personal questions. Satu shivered in the cold and Hiei handed Kurama his cloak to put around the girl. Satu felt Kurama slide a heavy material around her shoulders and she pulled it close to her so that she wouldn't freeze.
“I don't know my parents. No one talks about them. Come to think about it, every time I ask, they tell me my parents aren't in Heaven. I have no idea what that means.” Satu sighed and pulled the cloak closer to her face, breathing in its scent. She smiled and held it closer to her nose. It smelled so sweet, not bitter or old. Something about it seemed familiar, in a distant way.
“I'm sorry to hear that.” Kurama replied. Both he and Hiei watched as Satu pulled herself farther into Hiei's cloak, smelling it and smiling. Hiei wasn't sure what the angel was doing, but it was almost too odd to not look at.
“It's not a problem. Emi and Hitomi take good care of me. The Elders just tell me what to do all the time. Sometimes I like to sneak out at night and go for walks in the gardens. Emi covers for me. We always talk about ningen grass.” Satu confessed. Her body felt warmed up by the thought of her best friend and her guardian.
“Would you like to go inside now?” Kurama asked Satu. She looked at him and nodded. Her body was beginning to feel weak again and she didn't want to collapse like she did earlier in the night. Kurama helped her up and took the cloak from her and handed it back to Hiei. After Kurama and Satu had walked inside, Hiei put his nose to the fabric where Satu had nestled herself in and smelt it.
“Hnn.” Hiei smirked at the cloak. He pulled it around him and pushed up the fabric where she had been up so he could smell the sweet aroma it had. The night started to rise into morning and Hiei walked into the temple to find Kurama carrying Satu towards out of the kitchen.
“She had one glass of hot cocoa and she fell asleep. I'm just going to put her to bed.” Kurama carried Satu down the hall and put her in her bed, pulling the covers up to her chin. Her face was peaceful and serene; everything one would expect of an Angel.
“Stop getting attached fox.” Hiei said from the door way. Kurama looked at Hiei and smiled, perfectly guilty. The girl lay heavily asleep in her bed and the two youkai watched her sleep, her chest rise up and then fall down. Everything about her seemed so peaceful. It was almost enviable. Kurama noticed that Hiei buried his face deeper into his cloak.
“Stop getting attached Hiei.” Kurama teased. The Jaganshi looked up at the kitsune sharply and glared. Kurama chuckled lightly and Hiei's eyes went back to watching the girl. Both left the room after much prodding on their part to each other. They closed the door to her room and still imagined her sleeping in her bed, unaware of what the rest of the world was doing. “Good night Hiei.” Kurama spoke first, trying to clear the nervous air.
“Night fox.” Hiei flitted off to find an appropriate tree some where to sleep while Kurama changed into pajamas and crawled into his bed down the hall. Both youkai's thoughts still with Satu in her room, watching over her as she slept, her white hair in her face and her tan skin looking darker against the white sheets.
