[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Thank you all for the reviews! I know I should be doing my tons of homework but I really don't want to!!! So fanfiction it is…
Disclaimer: I love Yu Yu Hakusho, beyond the point of obsession, but I don't own it.
::NOTE:: This fanfiction takes place after the series ends so don't yell at me if there is a spoiler or anything, I'm just assuming you've all seen episodes 1-112. And if you haven't… well… you won't know what I'm talking about. (sweatdrop) Onto the fic!

Yusuke sat at home, staring off into space. When Kurama had told him what his feelings around Keiko meant, he'd really hadn't been too shocked. But thinking of it in hindsight the former detective had a problem. Surly he could not mate with Keiko before they were married; they were engaged though… was that enough? And if it wasn't, how long would he have to avoid her?
When he had called to ask Kurama, the fox didn't know and then offered to go and burglarize the Rekai library.
Ding-dong.
Yusuke stood and walked into the front hall. He opened the door to find his friend standing there with a large and very ancient looking book, “I found this; it should help clear some things up.”
The raven haired teen stepped to the side to let Kurama in. A few moments later they were both seated at the dining room table flipping through the index. The kitsune scanned the page his eyes quickly finding what they needed- Mazoku, pg 486. He turned back a couple of long chapters and handed the text to Yusuke.
“I thought you were going to read it to me.”
Kurama sighed, “You're not in kindergarten, read it yourself.”
The former detective looked down, finding a picture of Raizen and a chapter titled Atavism of the Mazoku. He read the first few lines, “Blah, blah, blah, where's the stuff I actually need to know?”
“Turn the page.”
Yusuke did as he was told only to find more things about his ancestral father. Noticing his old teammate was getting no where fast Kurama took the book back, flipped a few pages, and found what they were searching for, “Here.” He placed it down in front of him.
“Thanks,” he looked over the print reading about the first part of the “stuff” that had been mentioned the day before. A little after was where he found what he was curious to know, “The mating season of the Mazoku is unpredictable, occurring at intervals anywhere from one to one hundred years. Though it is estimated that once the season has begun it will last any time from four months-”
Yusuke paused letting the information sink in, when it did he nearly fell over, “Four months?!”
Kurama had to admit he was surprised as well, after all his mating season was only three days long and once a year. He had expected something similar for his friend, not something like this. “And four months is the minimum, I wonder what the max is?”
“A year.”
The fox glanced up, “Pardon?”
The black haired male showed him the rest of the sentence, “Though it is estimated that once the season has begun it will last any time from four months to a year.”
Hearing that Kurama began to worry, how on earth could Yusuke keep control over himself for a year? And this was his first time experiencing anything of the sort; that only made it harder… Taking the worn out book he continued reading, “Well,” the kitsune found some more helpful info, “Your desires will be strongest on the full moon, and completely gone on the new moon. And considering this is your first season I'm guessing you'd be closer to the four months then the year.”
Yusuke stood up and walked over to a calendar hanging on the wall, “I have three days till the next full moon.” He clenched his fist, “So what am I supposed to do?”
Kurama left his chair, picking the book up in his arms, “Try your best to keep control, I'm going to explain to Keiko-”
“No!”
The fox stopped short, turning to face his friend, “Why not?”
The former detective couldn't look him in the eye, “I… I just don't want her to know… I mean, what if she becomes afraid of me or something.”
Kurama smiled understanding what he was trying to say, “Okay, I won't tell her.” He continued down the hallway, “See ya later Yusuke.”
“Bye.”

Keiko walked into her bedroom, still incredibly happy about the praise she'd gotten in school over her project. A strong breeze tangled her hair causing her to notice her window was open. That's strange, I though I closed it this morning…
She went over and sealed the window, looking up to the still gray sky. A minute later she shook herself out of her thoughts and turned around. That's when she realized there was something resting on her desk. She approached it curiously and when she was close enough she saw it was a book, a very old one…
Keiko lifted the heavy binding up and sat down on her bed, placing the book in her lap. “Rekai Files vol. 4” she read the title out loud and then the subscript, “Makai territories and demon species…” That's when a thought hit her. Yusuke was a demon, right? Oh, but what was it called? She knew it began with an “M”.
She brushed away the thoughts of “where did this come from” and replaced them with her questions about the Makai. She opened the book from the back and searched for a familiar sounding word, she soon found Mazoku, and went to that chapter. Sure enough she recognized the name in the caption of a picture; Yusuke had said it once before, Raizen.
This is his ancestor then? It was funny, really. To think her own ancestor may have been hired to kill this figure her eyes resided on. Keiko lay down on her stomach and propped up her head with her hands with the book lying open in front of her. It was about time she learned of these demonic things, Yusuke never gave her a good answers for her questions, but maybe this book would…

I know, I know, mega short. Please forgive me! But like I said I have work to do. I will try to update soon. Oh and no, Sango was never hired to kill Raizen.
