Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Atavism of the Mazoku ❯ Hiei! ( Chapter 5 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
SY300: Heh, someone had a good point in their review. Sango would've lost to Raizen, but seriously, I think he would've succumbed to Miroku's kazaana (wind tunnel). And one person asked where the book came from… please tell me that was sarcasm. Where do you think it came from?!
Kurama: ((raises hand))
SY300: Thank you for being smart.
Kurama: Anytime and while I'm at it I might as well say SY300 doesn't own me or YYH.
-.-.-.-.-.-
Klink!
Keiko turned the page of her book too deep in her studies to hear the reoccurring sound.
Klink!
She heard it faintly this time and looked up wondering where it came from…
KLINK! Klink! Klink!
Her gaze turned to the window just in time to see another pebble hit the glass. Standing she went over, drew the curtains and peered down into the darkness. “Yusuke? What are you doing here?”
The former spirit detective dropped the small rocks he was holding and stared up at her, “I wanted to tell you… that I'm going away for a while.”
Her eyes widened, “What? Why? You only came home two months ago!” He could hear the distress in her voice as she called down to him.
“I know; I'm sorry.” He felt so guilty making her feel this way, breaking her heart again, but he didn't want to risk hurting her and jeopardizing their relationship. At this time a bolt of lightning flittered through the black clouds of night followed by a deafening roll of thunder. And as if things couldn't get any worse a few droplets of rain began to fall.
He turned to leave.
“Wait!”
The raven haired teen stopped, glancing back up at her. He was expecting her to say it was over, that she wasn't going to put up with his behavior any longer. Yet what she said surprised him more then anything else.
“I don't want you running away, I don't want you to disappear into this storm and never come home again,” Keiko leaned out of the window, “Please stay, I can help you!” She smiled at his open mouthed expression and was about to continue when something pushed her hard from behind. She hardly had anytime to scream when she fell. Luckily Yusuke caught her.
“What the hell kind of stunt was that!?” He yelled his heart racing with fading panic.
The one in his arms was shaking a bit, “I- I,” she shook her head, “I didn't do it on purpose. Someone pushed me.” She clutched at his shirt, “What if it was a ghost? Please don't leave me alone!”
Yusuke now realized he couldn't leave, “I won't,” he then began walking forward and up the back stairs of the diner. A few minutes later they were in her room and he set her down, looking around, “See, no ghost.”
Keiko sat down on her bed, a little more at ease, “Can you stay the night?”
He would really be pushing his luck if he agreed, “I don't think so, how about I leave when it stops raining.”
It's supposed to be called a compromise, however it's not quite fair is one person knows a secret. Or in this case had watched the weather channel and knew it would be raining up through half the day tomorrow, “Deal.”
Yusuke took a seat at the computer and noticed a large worn out looking text book… wait a minute… that was the book from the Rekai library! That liar, he thought, he promised me he wouldn't tell!
Keiko saw what he was glaring at and watched as he grabbed it. She stood up, “No, put it back. I need that book.”
“No, you don't. I'm taking it with me and going now.”
The brunette charged him and stole the hardcover information encyclopedia back, “This is mine and you can't have it.”
“Where did you get it?” he asked snatching it into his own hands.
“I,” she pulled it towards herself, “found it!”
“Where?”
“Here.”
“How did it get here?”
“I don't care.”
“I'm gonna kill Kurama.”
“What does he have to do with anything?!”
“None of your business! And neither is this book!”
The two continued their fight over the aforementioned item till the point Keiko tackled Yusuke to the floor. She sat perched on his stomach looking victorious, the ancient text safe in her keep. “I have every right to know what this holds. It's wrong of you to want to take that knowledge away from me.”
The former detective pushed her backwards and as she fell to the floor kneeled over her, “I'm trying to protect you.”
“From the truth?”
“…”
Keiko released her hold on the book yet neither took notice, “It doesn't matter,” she whispered, “I know you yet I don't understand why you were so afraid of me finding out. In your other form you may not have control over your body all the time but you'd never hurt me. Your soul wouldn't allow it.”
Yusuke sighed, “How can you be so sure?”
“How can you be so doubtful?” she reached up and touched the side of his face gently, “Right now I'm not too sure what's going on, why you're so intent on avoiding me.” She blushed as a thought went through her mind and she was almost too embarrassed to ask, “Does it… have anything to do with the mating season?”
The brown eyed male acquired a red tint to his face and found himself paralyzed, unable to tear his gaze away or speak.
“I guessed right?”
He nodded his head speechless.
“Then there's no problem. You have control over yourself now, don't you?”
His voice returned, “Yes, but I don't know for how long. I have no idea how to deal with these demon things and I don't know how strong they may get.” He felt his body start to change again, he heard her heart and began to sense the flow of her blood, “So stop blushing!”
He quickly sat up realizing the awkward position they'd been in trying his best to think of something that would stop the building urges. Unfortunately it wasn't so easy to do with her right next to him yet once she stopped blushing he was able to calm down.
Keiko stood up and extended her hand, “Come on, let's go to sleep.”
He retuned to his feet to be guided over to her bed, “If you wanted me this bad you could've said something.”
She smashed the old book over his head, “I don't care what season it is, you have no excuse to be a pervert.”
“Owww,” he rubbed the bump on his cranium, “You're so mean. This is going to be absolute torture…”
His girlfriend had already crawled under the covers on the other side of the bed, “It'll teach you control.”
He laid down, resting his head on one of the pillows, “Damn crazy-”
“Good night Yusuke.” She said sharply cutting off his sentence.
“Night…” He sighed staring up at the ceiling. A few minutes later he realized Keiko had fallen asleep, he however, was too afraid to. She was so close to him, if he went to bed, he might do something bad. Was it possible to sleep mate or something weird like that? He seriously didn't know so passed his time concentrating on the rain, hoping it would stop and that he could escape any temptation. It really didn't help that Keiko kept cuddling closer to him in her slumber…
-.-.-.-.-
Kurama opened up yet another drawer in his room, pushing around its contents in growing worry. He couldn't find the Rekai Files; if he lost them he was in deep trouble. It was bad enough he'd “borrowed” the volume without permission. He sank to the floor, “And I just got cleared of charges too…”
His window opened but he didn't bother looking up- after all there was only one person he knew who didn't believe in doors, “Hello Hiei.”
“Kurama…” The demon's voice was monotone as usual, “What are you doing on the ground?”
“Trying to find a book,” he rolled onto his back and glanced over at his best friend, “You haven't come across any on your way here, have you?”
Hiei sat down in the swivel chair, “Not unless you're talking about vol. 4 of the Rekai Files.”
“Yes!” he sat up quickly, “Where did you see it?”
“On your desk, so I took it.”
Kurama arched an eyebrow, “You… took it?”
“And put it in Keiko's room.”
Surprised? Yeah. Confused? Yep. Totally not getting the point of “revenge on detective”? Yes. “Can I ask why?”
Hiei closed his eyes, “I felt like stirring things up a bit more. It's a shame you told him about his mating season. I wonder what it would've been like if he was merely lost and had no clue. This is the only way I will get the amusement I hoped for.”
The kitsune was almost afraid to ask, “Was there anything else you did?”
“I pushed Keiko out her window.” He said calmly marveling at his genius yet seeing the expression his friend had, he went on, “Yusuke caught her.”

SY300: ((turns to Kurama)) I thought you said you put the book there!
Kurama: I raised my hand to tell you it was Hiei.
SY300: Oh ((sweatdrop)) right… So what do you all think? Keep in mind I will kill you if you say something about H/K romance. They are best friends nothing more. It disgusts me when people say other wise. Probably because it's like saying me and my sister are a couple ((gag)) So wrong…
Question #5: True or False: In episode 111 Kurama says he is not gay to Hiei.
