Chapter II

The vampires watched as Yusuke and Kurama walked up to them. One whistled, obviously mistaking Kurama for a girl. Yusuke put a hand on his friend's shoulder and the kitsune nodded in understanding. The same one whistled again and stepped forward.

"Well, well, miss, I think you should have a go with me. Who knows, you may have a blast." Kurama narrowed his eyes and attacked, thrusting the stake through the first one's heart. It vanished in a cloud of mist and dust. The rest of the group was aroused and lunged at the two hunters. In a matter of a few minutes, they were all gone. Yusuke grasped his shoulder from where one of them had clawed him. Kurama took a look at it and headed toward his home to take care of the street punk.

Hiei stood in the doorway of Seregia's room, watching the still form of the vampire lying on the bed. She was growing pale, a deathly pale compared to the rest of the clan. Several dark red scratch marks decorated her back and he understood why they were there. Her and her rough games, he thought to himself as he softly entered the room and went to her side. Her eyes were closed but she was not sleeping. He ran his thumb across her cheek, causing her brilliant green eyes to open.

"You're growing pale. It looks like you haven't eaten for days." She blinked, her face vacant of all emotion. His crimson eyes stared back. He knew the truth. She had eaten nothing for nearly a week. She was not lazy; she had gone out. She just never ate anything. She wanted something, something that they had trouble truly possessing. Love. He placed his hand over one of the deeper cuts that was between her shoulder blades. The muscles tensed slightly at his touch.

"What do you want?" Her voice was pleasant to hear. It was soft and melodious. It was one thing he liked about her but he loved her viciousness when she fought and attacked her prey and her "children." He brushed a stray lock of hair away from her face, slicing a thin red line across her cheek. She reacted to that and flung his across the room with her hand. He landed on his feet and gazed calmly back at her. She was sitting up now, a black shirt on. She wiped away the blood that oozed out. She stood up, her boots making no noise as they hit the ground. She stared coldly at him, her fingers flexing at her sides. Hiei thought she looked like an angel, if there ever was such a thing.

"You know better than to mar my face, Hiei." There was no anger in her voice. The fire apparition only looked at her in response. She turned her back to him and he put his hand on his katana. He lunged but she avoided his blow and delivered her own, sending him flying through the open door and onto the stone floor. She was quick to follow.

Hiei saw her coming and was instantly on his feet. Because she had not eaten for days, she was weaker and slower. He held the hilt of his katana out and ran towards her. The hilt slammed into her stomach, just between the lower ribs, eliciting a small gasp of surprise from her lips. She regained her composure and stumbled back slightly. Hiei attacked again but she moved out of the way, her very long, golden hair following her. Another door burst open and Damien stepped in, his green eyes flashing with anger.

Hiei turned to meet him but the other was much too fast. The fire apparition was thrown through the stone wall.

"Stay away from her. I am warning you." Hiei only glared at Damien. He took a few steps forward and found himself flying through the wall, thanks to Damien. The latter was right behind him, a sword aiming for his throat. It stopped a hair's breadth away and Damien turned on his heel. He walked over to Seregia and saw her raise an eyebrow.

"What have you found out?"

"They are back, Seregia dear. Those new hunters are no match for them." She nodded and began to walk away. She spun back to face Damien and Hiei, who had now come back from the rumble of the stone wall.

"Dawn will be here in less than an hour. I suggest you start getting ready to take your leave for the day." She grabbed the leather trench coat from the coat rack and headed out. She could survive sunlight but they could not. Sunglasses slipped on her nose as she opened the door.

"Where are you going, Seregia?"

"Do not worry about, Damien. Thank you by the way." The male's eyes darkened slightly. No one said thank you for anything unless they had a plan up their sleeve and with Seregia, there was always a plan up her sleeve. He went to her room and shut the door. Hiei remained standing there. He had been acting nicer to his creator but his revenge would slowly begin to form. He just needed his victim for her.

Yusuke flinched and started to curse before Kurama shushed him. He clenched his teeth as the fox spirit put more rubbing alcohol on the cuts. He was just about to swing at Kurama when the kitsune slowly wound some gauze around his arm.

"Damn, Kurama, did you have to put so much on those cuts?" Kurama wiped his hands on a towel and threw the shirt back at the punk.

"Yes. Would you rather have it infected?" He took Yusuke's silence as a positive answer. There was an awkward quietness in the room as Kurama finished cleaning up. The redhead hummed softly to himself as he put the things in his bathroom.

"So, who do you think they were? I mean, they didn't seem to come from here." Kurama turned to him and sat down on the chair by his desk.

"They must be from another clan. The others we have seen but couldn't catch no well of our actions. They studied the way we fought. Those vampires were definitely not from here." Yusuke nodded in agreement.

"Well, I better get going before your mom gets up. See you later, unless Botan decides to show up and say that Koenma has another mission for us. Yeah, I hope not." Kurama smiled and Yusuke carefully lowered himself out of the window. Kurama did not even bother to change back into his pajamas. He slipped on his school uniform and grabbed his backpack as he headed downstairs to start breakfast for him and his mother.
