Changing Shape

Chapter 1: Dr. Alahara

Hiei had been dragged to another room the instant the sun rose over the gloomy place, and tied down to a table, on his stomach. "Don't worry dear boy, all I am planning is to improve on your physical structure a bit...", the voice stated, "By using a few simple spells."

"What, why would you want to do that?!", Hiei growled more so than asked.

"Because I envy you, I envy you greatly my boy, greatly.", the voice stated, "I envy you for being love, let us see if changing it will make that human stop loving you.",

"Who are you, why would you do-", too late, whoever it was had started using the spell.

It felt like his back had split open, like he was bleeding from his entire body, Hiei screamed with immense pain, as his head throbbed with it. He could feel himself changing, a tear escaped him, and fell onto the floor, just as Kurama came to his rescue, along with the rest. "Hie- Hiei?", Kurama asked, the only reply was a moan, "Everything's going to be fine, I'm taking you home with me, Hiei, you'll be just fine."

Kurama was up early the next morning, looking down upon Hiei, who's still handsome figure lay upon his bed. Hiei had been changed, but that wasn't what mattered, not really. He was a slight bit smaller, and had a long, brown tail that whipped around lazily, two large, black, bat- like wings, every finger, and toe on his body had deadly claws, and his ears had slight bit of fuzzy, reddish brown fur, and looked more like a deer's than human's. But he looked cute like this, clutching to the blanket like it was his last chance of life. "Hiei...", Kurama murmured gently stroking his wing.

Hiei opened one eye, and looked at Kurama, and moaned just a bit, Kurama looked at him. "See? I told you you'd be all right.", Kurama stated.

Hiei whimpered slightly as he tried to sit up, but found it damn near impossible for himself to do with the pain still lacing his backside. "Ku- Kura- ma?", Hiei stated tugging at his sleeve.

"Yeah Hiei?", he questioned.

"I'm hungry, could you please get me something to eat?", Hiei requested.

"Okay.", Kurama stated, quickly heading downstairs.

Hiei sat there after Kurama had left, he stretched, then noticed the pair of large, black wings, and long, black whip- like tail. He was so shocked, that he screamed, then jumped back from the mirror. "Hiei, what's the matter?", Kurama looked at him, then noticed the mirror, "Oh, that must have startled you, having seen yourself like that, don't worry, Yusuke said that it wasn't harmful, not really."

"But...", Hiei stated, looking in the mirror.

"I actually think it's kinda cute on you, plus, now you could probably learn to fly, that will come in handy.", Kurama admitted, "I have to go finish making breakfast, so you just stay there, and relax, Hiei.",

When Kurama entered the next time he had brought up some smoked sausages. "So... Where's your Mother?", Hiei asked.

"She's out, her company sent her on a job out of country, she'll be gone for about two months, it's some huge contract with another large company. However, they like homey, motherly types of people.", Kurama stated.

"Hn.", Hiei stated, taking a bite out of one sausage, "Do you still consider me to be.... Hansamu?", Hiei asked.

"Yes, just in a sorta cute kinda way.", Kurama stated, "Why? What did that creep say to you?",

"Well, he.... He said he envied me, because you.... You loved me.", Hiei stated, "That's why he did this."

Hiei held up his now clawed hands, and looked at Kurama, who looked at him and smiled. Hiei gave a half- hearted one back, revealing his canines had changed more so into fangs. "Everything's going to be fine, Hiei.", Kurama stated, taking both empty plates.

Hiei stood up, though still a little unbalanced from the extra weight, he had found the tail that shifted seemed to help a bit. (For those of us who deem this familiar have probably read Heero's Clone, last chapter describes a standard demon, or a demon from which all have basically evolved from, Hiei is still a fire demon though, just that his structure is similar to the standard, the difference is the standard has a large piece of bone- like material at the end of the tail, Hiei doesn't, and his feet are not double ankled, just clawed, and a little larger to support weight from the wings.) He followed Kurama down the stairs, and into the kitchen, he moved silently, looking about the home. Hiei hadn't really seen the downstairs half of Kurama's house, do to his mother being there. The place seemed to be well cared for, and lovely, with a cozy feel to it. Hiei looked at the childhood pictures of Kurama, he looked rather cute in some, with a huge grin on his little face. "Hiei, come sit in the kitchen while I do dishes, okay?", Kurama stated.

"Hn.", Hiei said, doing as told.

Hiei watched Kurama roll up his sleeves, and start washing their plates, and glasses, then the pan. He watched him wipe down the counters and stove, and sweep the floor. "Kurama....", Hiei said in a questioning tone.

"Yeah.", Kurama stated.

"Do, do you like me like this or are you just trying to make me happy?", Hiei asked.

"It may take time for me to adjust to, but yes, I still love you, and I think you're beautiful just like that.", Kurama stated, boping the smaller demon on the noise with his finger.

Hiei sat silently for a minute, then proceeded to think quietly. "But how will I fight like this?", Hiei asked.

"From both ground and sky I guess, which'll give you the atvantage.", Kurama noted.

"Hn....", Hiei thought.

"Quit worrying about it, when we see Botan today we'll ask her how you might learn to fly.", Kurama stated.

Hiei's only response was to flick his new found tail this way and that, and twitch one of his ears.

Kurama: Holds Hiei back from the author.
