Changing Shape
Chapter 3: What Is Up With the Eggs?
Kurama was puzzled as to why Hiei didn't keep the eggs around, maybe because of how much he thought it made Kurama upset, which it didn't. Kurama had stated that. (And as far as you are concerned over this yes, it does become part of the plot.... Let's just say the spirit detectives have to round up little winged demons who start causing problems in the Demon World, but that's later.)
Hiei was asleep as of now, his habits were odder than before. He curled up like a cat would before falling asleep, he cleaned himself like one too. But aside from that, he hadn't changed too much. Hiei's tail swished back, and forth lazily as he slept, and an ear twitched in slumber. Hiei woke, with a yawn, and looked up at Kurama with a yawn. "What time is it?", Hiei asked.
"About ten in the morning.", Kurama stated, "You can come downstairs Mother's away on another trip.",
"Hn. I want to get on some cloths first.", Hiei stated.
It was obvious he wasn't in clothing, Hiei didn't enjoy the feeling of clothing while he was sleeping. It made him uncomfortable with the cloth rubbing against his fuzz.
Hiei knew he could fly, but Kurama didn't, Hiei didn't want anyone else to know. He could still run as fast as before, and still could carry the sword despite his clawed hands. "Hiei, what ever did you do with those eggs?", Kurama asked.
"What eggs?", Hiei stated, faking he never knew about them.
Kurama sighed, he knew Hiei was just saying that to cover up the answer, but the eggs would eventually hatch, then what? Kurama did want to have kids, even if this way was odd. Kurama let it go, and started to cook the sausage. "And when are you going to fly?", Kurama stated.
"Whenever you let me leap out of a window.", Hiei stated firmly.
"Hiei, quit fooling around, and answer me directly.", Kurama sighed.
"Hn. What if I don't want to?", Hiei stated.
"Well, then don't.", Kurama stated.
"Good.", Hiei said.
...
Later that afternoon, Botan was to show up, and do a check of Hiei's progress, and general health, by Koenma's orders. "Now open wide.", Botan stated, "And stick out your tongue.",
Hiei did so. Botan noted down the length of the canines, and that his throat was fine. Hiei started to get agitated by her poking and prodding him everywhere. "Why do you have to do this?", Hiei asked.
"Because we know one thing, you were made to where you weren't fully mature, which means you should soon make it to maturity, but some things might change, and we need to know what in case anyone else gets turned into something like this."
Hiei glared at Botan firmly. Then let her continue. It was true that he wasn't mature for whatever he was.... What he didn't realize was that soon, he would be.
...
It was while Hiei was napping that the first change took place, height, he grew, and grew, until about Kurama's youko form's height. When Hiei woke, he noted his change, and ran to find Kurama to ask for some clothing, because his was about two sizes too small. Kurama gave Hiei a rather strange look when he came downstairs. "New cloths?", Kurama managed to state.
Hiei just nodded. However as said before that was the first change, the second was Hiei's hunger. Usually, the little err... Or not so much now, demon would eat very little, but right now, he was on his fifth bowl of rice. Kurama just watched wide eyed, and jaw dropped, as Hiei managed to consume the sixth one. That and the fur grew thicker just a bit, but it still was fuzz. Hiei looked at Kurama with a guilty look, like it was his fault that this was happening. But once again, Hiei asked if he could just go jump out of a window, or something. "No, Hiei, you can learn how to fly when you're good, and ready to.", Kurama answered.
The maturing process took two days, and when said and done, Hiei still looked like he had before, just a little fuzzier, and bigger. Kurama didn't mind this, he just warned Hiei about people in public and what they might think. "Hn.", was the response that Hiei gave to that.
Hiei even still had his third eye through all this, but refused to let it be seen anyway. "Go take your shower, or bath, and then you can have breakfast.", Kurama stated firmly at Hiei.
"Hn.", Hiei stated, and walked off to go take his bath.
Things where all right with him, a little more power to shove people around with wasn't so bad.
...
The next afternoon, Hiei was napping in his usual tree, (Surprisingly which could still hold his weight.) When something dropped out of the above tree, it landed on Hiei's stomach with a thud, and woke him. Whatever it was, it was staring right at him, with big, and innocent red eyes. It's face, looked round, and sweet, the red, slightly wavy hair cascaded gracefully down the little one's shoulder. It was what used to be one of Hiei's eggs.... The only one that had come back to him, in all actuality, the rest were more than likely running around the demon world... But this one had Hiei's eyes, and wings, and feet, even the clawed hands, but had Kurama's hair, and ears, and tail. It was small, about the size of a kitten, the runt of the hatchlings. It lay in it's mother's lap for a while, happily just sitting and staring, it's little silver with black tipped ears twitching with every new sound. It had just hatched a couple days ago. It was true, there where no eggs for Kurama to worry over, just hatchlings now. But he never asked about those. He didn't even have a name yet, Hiei was never any good with names, he had thought of calling it Kassi, but that didn't fit. Hiei sighed, and his child just curled up, and snuggled into the sweater for a nap as well. Hiei knew Kurama would find out about this eventually, but right now, Hiei just wanted the little one not to be found.
It was late afternoon when Kurama returned, he found Hiei curled up on his bed, but nothing unusual either. Hiei stirred slightly in his sleep, but didn't speak, or wake. That's when it hit Kurama, right on the head. Two curious little crimson eyes stared innocently into his face, from atop Kurama's head. It's little button- like nose wrinkled as the thing sniffed at Kurama. It fell off of Kurama's head eventually, and just landed in his lap. Kurama looked at the creature, full realization showing in Kurama's face, it was one of Hiei's eggs, only not really now. He looked at the sweet little creature, as it sat there, happily entangling itself into Kurama's long, red hair. Kurama went ahead, and picked the squirt off of himself, and sat it next to Hiei, it obviously was more interested with Kurama, seems how it flew, whacking him in the back of the skull, and landing on the floor with a thud. "Poor little thing.", Kurama couldn't help chuckling, "You hurt yourself.",
"Hn.", it stated, folding it's little arms in anger.
"You sure act like Hiei.", Kurama stated, looking curiously at the thing.
It gave Kurama a blank look, like it didn't understand what he meant. "Nani?", it stated.
"Obviously you can say some words already.", Kurama stated.
The creature nodded, it looked sweetly at Kurama, and then at Hiei, and huggled onto Kurama happily.
When Hiei woke, he found his kitsune watching him with a gentle smile on his lips, and Kakasi, as Hiei now had named his child, in Kurama's arms. "Kurama?", Hiei asked.
"Yes, it's alright, I think I understand.", Kurama gently stated, "And this is going to stay here with us, I should believe, seems it is our child.",
"Yes, Kakasi is our child.", Hiei stated.
Kurama welcomed him in a great, heart filled embrace, with Kakasi huggling in between the two.
So, Kurama now knew what had happened to the eggs, they had hatched, and only this one had stayed, but where were the rest?
...
Koema groaned as the little demonets all crawled about his head, and desk, and flew into the rows of books.
"Someone save me!!!!!!!", he yelled.
Botan quickly responded by scooping up the seven little trouble makers, and trying to stick them all into the play- pin. While the orgs all cleaned up the mess they had created. "Where did these all come from?!", Koenma puzzled.
"I don't know sir, but, your the one stuck with them all.", Botan stated, and quickly left the poor Koenma to deal with the hatchlings on his own.
