Author’s Note: Umm, my muses struck again and I seemed to be continuously stuck on the fact that Kuwabara is a cat-lover. Well, I can use that to put him with the Toguro Brothers. I just have…tweak a few things, like say what the Toguro Brothers are! So for this fic to work the brothers are…well, read and find out. Oh, and this AU story takes place right before finals. Ani decided to take a “cat-nap” while his brother got the arena from the other stadium and Karasu and Bui are both still alive.

Prologue: What the Hell?

Ani yawns as he slowly wakes up. Something told him it was just about time for his match with Kuwabara. He was so looking forward to beating that uppity human. He stretches out and gently rakes his fingers through his hair and over his furry, pointed ears before…wait, FURRY POINTED EARS? He feels his ears and realizes that they WERE furry and pointed. He sits straight up in bed startled. Looking down, he sees a long black tail curled around his waist. He opens his mouth to scream but a hand covers it. “I really don’t think you want Bui and Karasu in here, do you?” Oto asks. He looks up at his brother only to see similar ears on him. Oto uncovers his mouth.

“What the hell is going on?” he hisses.

“I don’t know. I just noticed this sitting in the living room.”

“I am NOT fighting Kuwabara looking like a cat!”

“I don’t think you have much of a choice, brother.”

“Are you honestly going to get into an arena with Yusuke looking like that?” he demands.

Oto looks uncomfortable for a moment. “I haven’t thought about that yet.”

“And yet you are going to force me into an arena with Kuwabara? That is NOT fair, little brother.”

“Would you rather give them the tournament?”

“Actually yes, if it means not being seen as a furry little midget!”

“Brother!”

“Again, Oto, are YOU going to get into an arena with Yusuke looking like a large cat?”

“We are NOT talking about me!” Oto snaps. Just then the announcement for the next fight comes on.

“How the hell did Karasu survive that damn plant?” Ani demands.

“I don’t know. We can discuss this with our teammates after the finals. Get going, you’re on!”

Scowling, Ani heads towards the arena. He’s pleased that the hallway is empty because it gives him some time to relax and try to be calm once he entered the stadium and got laughed at. He then notices that his hair was now rich ebony and sighs. ‘Well, this is not going to end well,’ he thinks before another realization hits him, ‘Kuwabara is a cat-lover…oh god!’

He stands in front of the door for as long as he is able before he heads in. Kuwabara is already waiting on the arena. “Hello, Toguro, are you coming?” Juri yells.

“I’m right here, you obnoxious fish, don’t yell at me,” Ani snaps stepping into view. Juri goes to say something, sees him, and her eyes widen.

“Umm, what happened to you?” she asks stupidly as she tries to take in the transformation.

“Once I know, I’ll tell you,” Ani retorts as he hops up onto the arena. He looks at Kuwabara who’s staring at him in shock.

“Umm, wow, looks like the elder Toguro brother is a cat-demon, and a mighty sexy one at that,” Koto remarks. Ani wants to skewer her but manages to stand there calmly.

“Are you done?” he asks keeping his voice level though he’s absolutely seething.

“Umm, yes, you may begin,” Koto answers.

Ani looks at Kuwabara and sees the youth still staring at him. “What?” he snaps irritably. Kuwabara doesn’t answer just continues to stare. Ani scowls and crosses his arms waiting for the human to do SOMETHING other than STARE at him. It was going to be a long fight.
