Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Demon Bloodlines ❯ Houston, We have a BIG Problem ( Chapter 2 )
Part two: Houston, We have a BIG Problem
“What do you want?” Ani demands after five minutes passes without either demon saying a word. Bui looks at Karasu before looking back at the two of them and then they both burst out laughing. Ani is NOT happy about this at all. “If you have nothing better to do than laugh GET OUT!” he growls as his tail fluffs. This only makes their two teammates laugh even harder.
“Tell them to go away,” Oto mumbles.
“You tell them! They don’t ever listen to me!”
“I am not moving the damn pillow.”
Ani growls low in his throat before turning his attention back to the giggling demons in the doorway. “If you don’t get the hell out of the room, I will skewer you and send you on to see Koenma!” he threatens letting his nails elongate. That works and they both leave though he hears them laughing down the hallway. “Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. When I find out why we were never warned about this, I am going to make someone’s afterlife exceedingly miserable.”
“Are they gone?” Oto asks.
“Yes, little brother, the big bad demons are gone,” Ani retorts. Oto moves the pillow and scowls at him.
“You don’t need to taunt me.”
“Well, act your age.”
“You have no idea what he did, do you?”
“Who are you talking about?”
“Yusuke!”
“He petted you. What’s the big deal?”
Oto stares at him. “you don’t get it do you?”
“If you would be a little bit more obvious, maybe I would!” Ani snaps.
“He PETTED me!”
“I know what he did, I saw it!”
“Would you shut up and think about it for a moment!”
Ani sighs. ‘What is his issue? All Yusuke did was pet him it’s not he got him…Oh. My. God. He did!’ “Go take a cold shower, brother.”
“I am suddenly having an overwhelming urge to stay away from water.”
“if you do NOT go in there, I will drag you in there!” he threatens. Grumbling, his brother heads into the bathroom. ‘How the hell did I not sense that before? Probably because his pants and that damn jacket hide the scent.’ Feeling utterly cooped up, Ani decides to leave the room. He walks down the hallways trying to avoid walking into other demons who might have something smart to say about him. He heads outside and wanders around looking for something to amuse himself with. The answer comes in the form of a butterfly fluttering about. Before he can think twice about it, he’s chasing it around.
He only stops when he hears laughing. Turning around, he realizes that the entirety of Team Urameshi is watching him obviously amused. “Chasing butterflies, kitten?” Yusuke teases. Ani scowls at him.
“Why don’t you mind your own business and go home?” he growls at him.
“The boat doesn’t leave for another two days,” Kurama tells him. Of the group, he is the one trying to keep a straight face.
“Wonderful. Now, could you please go?”
“Why? It’s so much fun to watch you chase insects around,” Yusuke remarks. Ani goes to return a scathing reply when movement catches his eyes. He turns and watches avidly as a couple of leaves are being blown by the wind. Suddenly, almost before he realizes it, he chases after them much to the amusement of the group. “Well, this is definitely worth coming to the tournament over.”
“He is rather…cute like that,” Kuwabara remarks watching Ani pounce trying to catch one of the leaves.
“Funny, I woudn’t have described him as such any other time. His brother…man, that was a hysterical match. Who would have thought that you could beat him by PETTING him?”
Kurama shakes his head listening to Yusuke. That had been a rather underhanded maneuver by the youth. ‘I don’t think I would have been quite so heartless,’ he thinks watching Ani, ‘They seem to be just as surprised with their transformations as everyone else.’
Ani finally forces himself to stop. ‘This is ridiculous! I don’t chase leaves or butterflies!’ he thinks angrily. The sounds of Yusuke’s taunting laughter only makes him feel worse though now he’s ignoring the temptation to walk over and bite the detective just to shut him up. “Oh, there you are,” a familiar voice calls to the detectives. ‘Oh no, not Koenma!’ Ani thinks watching the demigod approach the group.
“Yeah, we were just being entertained by Ani,” Yusuke says. Ani wants to disappear as the prince looks in his direction but he settles for wrapping his tail tightly around his waist.
“Ani?” the prince inquires looking rather shocked.
“Hmm?” Ani manages without sounding like he wanted to kill him.
“what happened?”
“Don’t know,” he forces out while his attention goes back to the leaves. ‘No, will not chase leaves…will not chase leaves…will not…’ He pounces. This time he finally catches the elusive thing and starts smacking it around.
Koenma stares at the scene absolutely flabbergasted. “Umm, what is he doing?” he asks.
“Playing with leaves. He was chasing a butterfly earlier,” Yusuke answers, “Seems he and his brother are cat-demons.”
“Really? Well, I didn’t know.”
“Neither did they apparently,” Kurama answers, “Let’s just say the last two matches didn’t go so well. Where were you anyway?”
“Umm, I had important business to take care of,” Koenma says quickly.
“In other words, he was hiding under his bed,” Genkai says approaching, “Are none of you decent? Leave him alone and quit gawking! He’s got enough to deal with without all of you making it worse!”
“Why? He’s entertaining.”
“Dimwit, he’s trying to deal with being a demon. Give him some privacy would you? He’d do the same for you.”
“Are we talking about the same small obnoxious demon?”
“Yusuke!” the warning in her voice is apparent and the dark haired youth decides to be intelligent for once and not continue.
Ani doesn’t notice as he’s trying too hard to pull away from the leaves. ‘Brother, where are you?’ Oto calls.
‘I’m outside trying to get away from moving leaves, butterflies, and anything else that I can while amusing all of team Urameshi including its owner. How are you?’ he responds.
‘Fine. Maybe you should get back inside.’
‘Yes, that might be prudent at this point.’ he turns and races back into the hotel and to the room without a second thought. “This is soo humiliating! Why did our parents fail to mention that we were demons?”
“Maybe they didn’t know. Maybe it’s one of those inheritances that skip a generation…or two,” Oto answers. He’s sitting on the bed holding a pillow in his lap.
“You didn’t take a shower, did you?”
“It didn’t help, actually.”
“Oh. Well, that isn’t good.”
“Yes, of all the demons we end up being, it has to be the one with the largest sex-drive.”
“Well, so do fox demons.”
“That’s not the point!”
“Obviously.”
“Were you really chasing leaves?”
“Yes.”
“While Team Urameshi was watching?”
“Yes.”
“Wonderful.”
̶ 0;Isn’t it, though?”
Oto looks at him for a moment and Ani has a sinking suspicion that something is NOT right. “Brother, what are you doing?” he asks worriedly. When he sees his brother’s tail swishing, he knows that this isn’t good. “Brother?”
Oto pounces and pins him to the floor. “Hello,” he purrs huskily. Ani’s golden eyes widen to the size of saucers.
“Y-you’re not serious!” he yelps. Oto’s lip curves into a rather predatory grin. “Oh gods, you ARE serious!”
