The normally ordered office of Koenma was a mess. A toddler was seen throwing things everywhere in a temper tantrum and a blue ogre was slowly inching towards the door to escape. After a few minutes the ogre could almost feel the doorknob when his employer suddenly stopped his tantrum and started sobbing.

The blue ogre whose name was George sighed. Changing his mind he cautiously approached his boss. `Koenma sir. Is everything alright?'

The toddler went from sobbing to rage in a matter of seconds. `No. Father's gonna kill me!”

Not understanding Koenma's sudden outburst. `Sir?'

“The barrier between the human and the demon world will fall if the four rulers are not mated and charge it in a fortnight! If that happens all of us are doomed.”

“Sir do you know who the four rulers are?”

“Of course I don't.I just came to know about it now! The only thing I do know is that out of the four rulers one will be a human who will be turned into a demon through his mate and the other three who are demons must mate with two humans and one of our people. How am I going to force demons to mate with humans and vice versa I don't know.”

George fidgeted awkwardly knowing how much his employer hated suggestions “Sir have you considered asking the oracle?”

Koenma's eyes lit up and as he hurried towards the door “Well hurry up ogre. We haven't got any time to waste”

George just sighed once more before following his employer out the door

 

Sometime later……..

“Well now that we know who those four are I think its only fair that we look into the book of soul mates about the proper ladies for them. Since we are going to get them together. Lets do it properly.”

“Sir. Isn't it against the rules to consult the book and meddling with other peoples love lives?”

Koenma landed one solid thump against the ogre's head causing a large bump to form on the poor ogre's head. “Idiot. That's why you never get a promotion. In cases of emergencies rules are meant to be broken though I already have a good idea of who those pairs will be”

“How can you be so sure Sir?” the ogre asked wincing as he rubbed the bump

“Yusuke and Keiko are obviously one. Kuwabara and Yukina the other. I guess Hiei and Kurama will have to pick two girls of their own”

“Sir if you are so sure why consult the book?”

“Simple. On the off chance that I am wrong all of us will be doomed. Now come on let's go and ogre I better not hear you breathing a word about this to anyone else.You hear?”

“Yes Koenma sir of course!”

 

 

 

 

“Put the book right over here George” the toddler told the ogre indicating the once again clean desk.

The toddler took his customary seat behind the desk and holding both of his hands above the book closed his eyes.

The toddlers hands glowed a soft gold and the book slowly opened. After which a lovely couple rose from its pages.

To look at the couple the first thought that would run through anyone's head was `Two halves of a hole' and even Koenma was surprised as he felt the pure love he felt from the couple. And before he realized had bowed a little to them. Hurriedly correcting himself the toddler tried to assume an air of importance which was sadly at variance with his stature.

The lady of the book just laughed which caused the man to send an amused glance in her direction before asking in a deep voice `And what is it that you require from us Koenma Son of Lord Enma'

Koenma hurriedly cleared his throat. “I need to know the soul mates of three demons and one human”

“You do realize that you can't obtain this information for selfish purposes.Don't you?” tinkled the melodious voice of the woman

Koenma decided to tell the truth “The thing is all three worlds are facing possible extinction if the four of them do not mate within a fornight and charge a barrier. If the barrier is not charged the delicate balance between the three worlds will collapse and everything will be destroyed”

“They've erected the barrier?” the male of the couple asked “And it sill holds after a thousand years have passed”

Koenma stared at the couple “How do you know about it?”

“We were there when the notion of one being erected was still in conception” said the male his voice distant while the female got a sad look in her eyes before turning back to Koenma

“Well anyway we knew the four rulers personally and let me tell you. If you want to find the soulmates for those four, they are already with them. And they are already mated

“Wait” Koenma asked “How do you know Yusuke and his friends”

“You've got the name wrong young man. Its Raizen and his friends”

Koenma eyes lit with understanding “Raizen is dying and of his old friends only Yomo and Mukuro remain”

“What happened to the rest?” asked the man

“They were killed in the great battle and are just able to hold the barrier. But even their powers are dwindling and its as if they are just holding on”

Koenma watched as the two in front of him as they held a silent conversation with their eyes.

Both of them turned to him as one and said “Tell us the names of the ones who should ascend the thrones of our friends and we will tell the names of their destined”

Koenma blinked at the sudden capitulation “Wa..Wait a minute. How come you want to tell me about it now?”

The man just smiled “Lets just say that we are returning a favour to our friends.” And seeing Koenma still staring at them the woman asked a bit impatiently “Well Do you want to know or not?”

Koenma hurriedly told them their names and his eyes grew wide when the couple glowed brightly and then he could only hear their voice and as he heard their reply his eyes grew wider and wider and when the book finally closed his eyes rolled onto the back of his head and he fainted
