Koenma felt water being sprinkled on him and opened his eyes groggily to see George bending over him with a worried expression on his face.

“Sir. Are you alright? You just keeled over.What's wrong?”

“Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh” moaned the toddler “Oh.George its hopeless.”

“Sir What did the book tell you?”

“You mean.You didn't hear what was said”

“No sir I didn't.”

“Oh. Either way I am going to be killed. If I don't do this all of us are doomed.If I do do this I am going to be killed by them”

“Errr. Sir Who are the people supposed to get together “

“I was right only on one pairing ogre and that is Kuwabara and Yukina”

“Oh!” exclaimed the ogre knowing the toushin's temper very well and then asked in a very mild voice “Sir. Whose soul mate is Keiko?”

“Kurama's”

“I see. Then Yusuke's is?”

“Botan”

“Sir. Dare I ask Who is Hiei's”

“Ogre. That even worse. Its Shizuru. Oh This is hopeless”

Then the toddler spied a slip of paper sticking out of a drawer and reached for it

 

 

In the Ningenkai

At Keiko's house……

 

“Hey Keiko! Are you home.” A tall brunette yelled as she went inside with a petit ice demon

“Yeah Shizuru. Am in the kitchen. Come inside.”

The duo made their way into the kitchen and saw Keiko's now almost permanent room-mate Botan

The girls had found out a few months ago that Koenma had assigned her to take care of them as all the guys had gone off the makai to train.

Needless to say all the girls had learnt to be proficient in martial arts ever since the dark tournament had ended. Without anybody else knowing about it. And since they liked Botan all of them had had a good laugh after they found out her `purpose for an indefinite stay'.

“I'll go and set the table keiko” said the mild mannered Yukina with a bow

Keiko looked after the retreating demon's back. “You know I thought her being with you would have changed her a bit”

“I don't know whether I should take it as a compliment or an insult” snorted Shizuru

Botan chuckled “I thought you normally took anything we said the way you liked”

Keiko laughed along with Botan when Shizuru just stuck her tongue out at her.

The three of them then carried the trays out to the dining table.

 

After serving themselves Keiko muttered “You know I would really love to go on an all paid expense trip”

“Tell me about it. You are not the only one Keiko. All of us feel the same” Shizuru told the auburn haired girl at the table”

“Yeah. Though getting Koenma to agree to let me go off for a few days is going to take a miracle.”

The others looked at the blue haired ferry girl sympathetically while Shizuru added “Maybe one day I can just knock out that kid and all of us can go somewhere”

All of them laughed imagining Shizuru thrashing Koenma. Knowing very well that she would do it too.

They never realised that they were being watched

 

 

Koenma watched the huge screen in front of him. The cogs had been turning furiously in his head ever since he had heard about the all paid expense trip.

Add that to the fact he had Botan's leave requisition form in his hand. He got an idea on how to get them together.

“George get the best warders both Demon and Ogre quickly”. He was so busy shouting orders at the poor ogre that he thankfully missed the last comment about Shizuru thrashing him

 

 

The girls got all the pillows and cushions and piled them in front of the television after finishing their dinner

“So girls what shall we watch chick flicks or horror?” Asked Shizuru as she was browsing the DVD collection.

“Oh Chick flick please” asked Yukina with everybody else agreeing with her.

They settled in front of the television to watch the movie and relax

 

The next morning Keiko woke up to the sound of someone pounding on the door. She smiled bemusedly as Shizuru mumbled a few choice words to whoever it was outside the door and trying to cover her ears to block out the sound. Seeing Botan and Yukina stirring as well Keiko got up and made her way to the door and opened it only to reveal the toddler

“Hello Koenma. What brings you here so early in the morning?” asked Keiko surprised

“Hello Keiko. Is Botan here?” the toddler asked coming inside

“Well……… Yes she is” Wondering why he was here. He never was the type to pay social visits.

“Hey! Botan. Koenma's here!”

There was a thump and the sound of Shizuru cursing before all three of them made their way into the hall.

The blue haired ferry girl came into the room as she was putting her hair into the usual pony tail and then bowed “Good morning Koenma-sama”

“Botan. I have thought over your application and I think its better that you resign from the job of a grim reaper.” He held up a hand when she would have opened her mouth to continue “You still get to keep your powers. But the thing is you've been through a lot and hence I believe it will be better”

While he was saying this Koenma inwardly thought. `I very well can't have a Queen of the Makai in my employ now can I'

Then he continued “I also got four gift vouchers to a very famous spa. Its mostly empty this time of year and I can't really go there now so I thought I will give this to you as a reward”

He looked up and was met with Shizuru's suspicious gaze “You know. I just can't imagine why you should be feeling so nervous when you're being generous”

Koenma could feel his palms sweating as he felt all the four girls' eyes narrowing his direction. He had forgotten about Shizuru's sensing abilities apparently even just awake as she was `Oh shit. Think Koenma'

“Its just that I am stressed with work lately. With all the four guys not here I am nervous if something will happen and I have left my office for the first time in a long time and I am worried”

Personally he thought that his lie was very good for being thought of on the spot. And he relaxed after a moment when three of the four immediately smiled at him. Shizuru scrutinized him for a few more minutes before shrugging and making her way to the kitchen. “You guys want coffee?”

The rest of them answered in a chorus of yes

Keiko asked politely “Koenma Do you want some coffee as well”

“No thank you Keiko. I think I better get going. Bye Botan. I'll miss you” and so saying he disappeared

Botan was still rooted to the spot holding the tickets which he had thrust into her hands.

Keiko snapped her fingers in front of the dazed ferry girls face “Botan. Hello earth to Botan are you there? BOTAN!”

She came back to reality with a start “Did I imagine that or did he really just give me a vacation”

“Oh he did Botan” came the soft reply from the petit demoness

“Well come on” said Botan “The four of us have a shopping trip this morning”
