A/N: This is slightly AU and might have some romance in later chapters, I don't know yet. So please leave feed back. Also, I have not seen all the episodes of Yu Yu hakusho (just 1-50) so if anything is off let me know and I will do my best to fix them. Thanks =)

Chapter one

It Begins

London

It was a sphere no bigger then the size of a fist, embellished in gold and silver. Delicate hieroglyphs carved with unimaginable perfection graced the entire surface. It had survived for three millenniums and yet glittered as if it was created yesterday.

The museum had been in an uproar for almost a year sense it's discovery. Scientist and Egyptologist from all around the world had flocked to have even the tiniest glimpse of such a rare item. Now after all the scientists had their say and the press had presented it to the world it sat on a beautifully carved dais next to the lion-headed statue of the goddess for which it was made.

Tonight however, in the late hours the empty museum it had but one admirer. He had made his excesses to stay late, no one had questioned or cared, he was a minor and unimportant spec to his employers.

He had managed to come across the security code that would open the display area and now stood a mere three feet form the object of his obsession. For ten years he had waited for this moment, lied cheated and manipulated many to be where he was now.

His pale clammy hands trembled with anticipation as he reached for the sphere. A few inches and his dream would become a reality, and he would finally have what was owed to him. He would have the power, the glory and laugh in the faces of all those who had laughed at him.

He grabbed the sphere and sighed with pleasure. Chills ran through every limb, and a fait heat emanated from the sphere in pulsating waves. He opened his mouth to say the words he had taught himself to speak in the ancient language

"Greatest of all goddesses, bringer of plague and pestilence, grant me your power to destroy my.....umm.... ahh....grant me the power to destroy my..........?"

`Dammit how do you say `enemies' in ancient Egyptian!'

It was a cool spring day in japan, the humidity was fair and the cloud cover was just perfect. Fare to the north the horizon was grey with the threat of coming rain, but for now it was beautiful day. A slight breeze blew in from that storm ruffling some stray hairs of Yusuke Urameshi.

`Man, how could anyone stand to be inside on a day like this.' He thought to himself as he stared up at the clouds from the roof of his school.

`A cool breeze, lots of sunshine and even better still no calls form pint size, pacifier sucking ruler of the spirt world.' He gave a longing sigh and then looked at his watch.

`5...4...3...2...1'

"YUSUKE!!!!!"

"Right on time."

Keiko came busting through the door and she usually did whenever Yusuke skipped one of his classes. Her face was slightly flushed with the work of running up the several flights of stairs.

Yusuke's face was blank but inside he grinned as he looked at Keiko. Though he would never admit it out loud, this was one of the reasons he skipped class. He had to say that Keiko always looked hot when she was angry or flustered.

"I knew it! Jeez Yusuke why do you even bother to show up?" Keiko said.

"Well duh, If I stopped showing up, they'd kick me out, then I would actually have to get a job."

Keiko's already red face became even more red. She opened her mouth to reply to this statement when something in the sky caught her eye. Yusuke followed her gaze and saw a small dot in the sky that seemed to be coming closer.

`Please....Please don't let that be who I think it is!'

He watched the dot fly toward him at unnatural speed and take form into the last person he wanted to see today. Sunlight hit the figure reflecting the blue and pink of her hair and kimono.

Botan landed in an almost screeching halt atop the roof. Her stop was so abrupt that she stumbled and nearly tripped over her ore. Her breath came out in loud huffs and sweat ran down her forehead.

Botan's usually perfectly groomed appearance was anything but. Her neat ponytail was now crooked and very loose, and her kimono was wrinkled. Making her look as if she had just travailing through a high-powered wind tunnel.

"Yusuke......... spirt world....... hurry!" Botan said between breaths.

"Botan what happened to you?" Said Yusuke.

"No time ... to explain ... you have to come to the spirt world now!"

"It would have to work today, just when I was starting to enjoy some time off." Said Yusuke as he started to walk toward Botan, but was blocked by a now fuming Keiko.

"Yusuke Urameshi don't you dare walk out on me at a time like this!" Keiko yelled and Yusuke could have sworn he saw steam rising from the top of her head.

"Look Keiko what do you want me to do, duty calls. Ok how about this, just cause I'm in a good mood today I promise you can yell and scream all you want when I get back."

Somewhere in a place very few even knew existed, dwelled forces that were ancient and now long forgotten. A small dirt road was being used, a road that lead to nowhere and everywhere. This road had not been used in many centuries and would probably not be used for many more after this.

The one who travailed this road was beyond description, beyond words. It was earthly yet unearthly, common and uncommon at the same time. It looked like a woman at first glance, but to look at her face you could see she was something else.

She was tall and slim to an almost extreme look of frail. Her face and ears were slightly elongated giving her face the animalistic appearance of a cat. Her skin was a flawless ecru color and her hair was only slightly darker, making it hard to see where it began and her skin ended. Though she was clothed, the material was sheer and mist like and seemed to flout around her body.

She stopped walking and scanned both sides of the road looking for something. Green fields stretched at far at the eye could see yet the woman-creature seemed to find what she was looking for. She stepped off the road and walked up a small hill. At the very top a lone orange orchid stood in a sea of grass.

She stared at this flower for what would be ages to some, her face contorted in concentration. She bent down and long tapered fingers reached out and gently petted the pedals. A small green flame erupted from the center making the woman smile. She stood up and spread her arms wide, and spoke to the sky.

"Child, born of my flame, your mistress calls you once again. Answer and serve me well."

The once small flame turned into a raging inferno that shot above her head. As instantly as it had begun the flames died and in their place stood a nude young girl.

She was about two feet shorter then the first woman and looked entirely human. Her skin was a shade darker and her hair was inky black and stopped just short of her chest. Her eyes opened to revile steely, grey irises that took in their surroundings taking no notice of her lack of cloths. As they settled on the taller woman, the girl dropped to one knee.

"My Lady Sekhmet, what would you have of me?"

Sekhmet placed the tip of her fingers on the girl's forehead and they stayed that way for several minutes. The girl suddenly looked up and smiled.

"I understand, and I will leave at once."

Yusuke lay on his back at the gates of Koenma's castle. He was drenched in perspiration and his eyes were the size of dinner plates. One hand still had a death grip on the end of Botan's ore. Botan gave no notice of this as she banged on the door. Yusuke came out of his daze and stood up on rather shaky legs.

"Ah, Botan?"

bang * bang * bang

"Oh Botan?"

BANG * BANG * BANG

"BOTAN!!!!!!!!!"

"WHAT!!!"

"YOU CARE TO TELL ME WHY YOU THOUGHT IT NECESSARY TO BRING ME HERE AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT AND ALMOST GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!"

At that precise moment the doors opened and an avalanche of small fuzzy round things came falling out and buried them up to their knees. At first Yusuke thought they were some kind of toy until several began to move and a choirs of squeaks and purring came from them.

"THAT'S WHY!!" Botan yelled as she began to dredge through the sea of fuzziness.
