DT: This is the true chapter one. It's kind of centered on Hiei and his feeling of unknowing love for his fox friend.

WARNINGS FOR THIS CHAPTER: Male/Male relationships. Slight Hiei/Yuusuke. Won't last though.

~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 1~~~A Quick Kissing Lesson and A Call of the Youkai~~~~~~~~

Hiei, in his usual place, the tree right outside Kurama's window, sat on a limb of the tree and stared at the sky. Happily daydreaming, he put on a slight smile as he watched his fox do his homework, at least that's what he called it...Hiei wouldn't know of something so custom to the Ningenkai. He only knows about this homework because Kurama had told him of it once before.

A smile, which was soon replaced with a frown, crossed Hiei's face. His usual unemotional scowl returned as he saw Kurama turn his head to look out the window at him. Kurama waved to him, he returned the gesture in his usual way. He squinted his eyes till they were almost slits and looked away out towards the street.

Kurama watched Hiei in the tree outside his window until the branch made a slight movement, and the fire Youkai had flitted out of the tree, off most likely to see what everyone else was doing. Kurama resumed his homework.

Hiei came to a stop on the front lawn of Yuusuke's house. He looked up and saw that the window to the teen’s room was open. He jumped up onto the windowsill and looked around the room.

"What? The front door too good for you, shrimp?" Hiei gave a quick glance to his right and saw the Fool sitting on the bed in the corner of the room.

"Hn," was all he needed to say and the Fool turned and looked the other way.

"Oh hey Hiei, what's up man?" Yuusuke's voice came to his ears from his left side. He had just walked into the room, carrying a plate full of snacks.

"What is this? Another one of your fake study sessions?" Hiei looked at all the books lying about the room.

"Yup! Wanna stay for a bit and chill?" Yuusuke threw a bag of chips at him, and he caught it. Hiei quickly took a seat in the chair near Yuusuke's desk and, literally, popped open the bag of chips.

"So, what's goin on Shrimp? Here to have another heart to heart with Yuusuke again?" Kuwabara teased the fire youkai, but he soon regretted doing that, for Hiei had taken out his Katana and had it in the Fool's face before he could say another word.

"That's none of your business, Fool." He said in a monotone voice. He put his Katana away after successfully scaring Kuwabara and sat down once again. He reached into the bag and grabbed a handful of chips and began to eat them as if nothing had just happened. Kuwabara, whom finally calmed down from shock of having a katana literally in his face, grabbed the remote and turned on the TV near Yuusuke's bed. Hellsing just so happened to be in the DVD player, and that's what got turned on. Hiei watched it intently for all of the blood and gore in it. He watched as the one called Alucard, transformed into a dog like beast and slaughtered another vampire.

Two episodes of Hellsing later, which is being the same amount of time as an hour, Kuwabara called it a day and took off for home.

"Alright Hiei, what's really up?" Yuusuke turned off the TV and turned himself around to face Hiei, so that the fire demon knew he was paying full attention.

"I've been having a hard time expressing and doing all those things we kept talking about the other night." His voice was very unemotional, sometimes Yuusuke thought that the demon was completely deprived of emotion altogether.

"Look Hiei, I'll give you another option which is totally unnoticeable, even for Kurama. One night when everyone else in town is asleep, go over to Kurama's house and wake him up. Tell him to follow you, take him to the park. How about tomorrow night? There's supposed be a really cool amount of fog tomorrow night. Even for Halloween night, it's going to be a real nice night. Anyway...take him out to the park, and out of the blue...just kiss him. You're quick enough, just before he can wonder what's going on, kiss him." Yuusuke looked at Hiei's flushed face. "You don't know how to kiss do you?" The fire youkai shook his head.

Yuusuke sighed..."Don't worry, I'll teach you if you're willing."

Hiei looked at the half ningen with a look of almost pure disgust. But he did need to learn sometime or another. And why not learn now so as not to get embarrassed later?

With a reluctant sigh, Hiei agreed to the free lesson, "Sure, just don't get too involved with it."

Without warning, Yuusuke grabbed Hiei's lips with his in a slow, gentle kiss. The fire demon closed his eyes finding that he couldn't focus on Yuusuke correctly any longer do to the extreme closeness. Yuusuke did the same.

Hiei became a hypocrite of his own warning, he was the one to get too involved. He grabbed Yuusuke's shoulders and bit Yuusuke's bottom lip with his fang drawing a small amount of blood.

Yuusuke wrapped his arms around the smaller demons waist and fell backwards onto the bed, bringing Hiei down with him. He returned Hiei's small favor and bit the fire youkai's bottom lip as well. He bit down hard enough for Hiei to open his mouth, and he quickly slipped his tongue into his mouth.

Hiei wouldn't stand to be taken control of, he pushed out the boy's tongue and slipped his into the other's mouth taking control back. His claws ripped at Yuusuke's shirt causing slits and rips to be made in the half ningen's shirt.

Yuusuke's arms unwrapped from around the smaller demons' waist and pushed on his chest to get him off. The kiss was broken from Yuusuke pushing on Hiei.

Hiei realized what he had just done and stared at the half ningen in shock. "Sorry..." was all he could muster to say, to the bewildered Yuusuke.

All the other could do was laugh, "Haha, I guess demons are naturally gifted with sexual abilities."

"Thanks..." was the fire demon's last word, before he hopped out of the window in Yuusuke's room.

"There's such a thing as a door you know!" He yelled out to the small demon as he flitted through the night air to his tree in the park.

~~~~Hiei's Dream~~~~

Hiei let a moan slip through his lips as his beloved fox kissed and sucked on his neck right where his pulse was. The fox left a large red mark that the ningens called a hickey. The Youko continued to kiss his way down the smaller demons chest, and soon reached his pants line. The fox tore at the fabric with his teeth easily removing the clothing without so much as ripping it. The annoying fabrics were cast aside into some random form of abyss...all that mattered was what was going on with their bodies right now.

The lust filled Youko tore off Hiei's undergarments as well, and Kurama stared at the sight before him....................................................

~~~~ End Hiei's Dream~~~~

The happy morning fell ill on Hiei, the cursed rising sun had woken him from a marvelous dream. As he looked around, the park was already filling up with fog as the cold October air blew in his face. It chilled him slightly making him shiver. He hopped down out of the tree and walked through the already thick fog. There was no one outside this early in the morning, he looked like a shadow gliding through the park, a phantom if you will. He reached the gates and out into the street he walked. The roads were barren, and all the shops were still closed. He walked through the town silently and swiftly. Wanting to get someplace warm. He didn't want to disturb Kurama until tonight...his only other option...Yuusuke's house. As he walked the silent streets, thoughts filled his mind of how he was going to go about doing what he wanted to do tonight.

He became so absorbed in his thoughts he almost ran into a lamp post. He flitted around it and continued to walk...he was at the half ningens house in no time.

He jumped up onto the window sil and opened the window. All members of the Rekai Tantei were smart and they all left their windows open for Hiei at all times. He jumped into the room, and shut the window quietly behind him. The scent of vanilla and strawberries hit him instantly as he turned around to actually pay attention to the objects in the room. Why a guys room smelled like that was rightly beyond him. Keiko must have been in here recently, probably between the time he left and the time Yuusuke went to bed. 'Duh' Hiei thought to himself as he looked around the room once more. He noticed that Yuusuke wasn't in bed. But the sound of running water finally reached his ears. He decided to sit in his usual place at the ningen's desk and look through his stuff.

Yuusuke walked out the the bathroom with a towel around his waist and walked into his room to find Hiei sitting at his desk. "Got a little too cold for you this morning?" Hiei just nodded his head and continued to look through the picture book sitting on the desk. Yuusuke quickly got dressed while the fire youkai was distracted by the picture book. He walked over to the desk and looked over Hiei's shoulder, and the first picture that caught his eye was the one from the Dark Tournament. They were all in their room and Hiei, Kurama, Kuwabara, and himself were all sitting around the coffee table playing cards. Hiei had his confused as shit face on, while the others were playing and completely skipping over him. He laughed at the picture and Hiei gave him a death glare.

" I know how to play that game now you ningen." He gave Yuusuke a scowl that said, 'I'll get you back for that one day'. 'The worst part is,' thought Hiei, ' That I'm now asking this stupid ningen for help.'

"That's HALF ningen Hiei...half ningen." Yuusuke said, sticking his tongue out at the fire youkai afterwards.

"Keep that thing in your mouth." Hiei snapped at him. Yuusuke had to think for a second why he had said that, but he got it after about a second or two.

"Oh, sorry..." Yuusuke dismissed that fact from his mind once again and continued to talk, "So uh...want some breakfast?"

The demon turned around in his seat to face him, "Sure...why not. Can you at least cook?"

"Sure i can cook! My mom is always out in a drunken rage...I have to know how to cook." He gave the youkai a cheesy smile and meandered off towards the kitchen to make them breakfast.

Hiei left Yuusuke's room after lookking through the book of pictures all the way...which took him another five minutes after Yuusuke had left the room. He reached the Litchen to find that most of the food was ready, and Yuusuke had set the table for three. Hiei was a regular, but the third plate was a mystery. "Who else is coming to eat?"

"Oh, while i was in the shower Kuwabara said he'd be over to eat with us cause...he can't really cook and he's home alone this morning."

Hiei glanced at the clock in the kitchen...it was about 4:17 am. The boys were just sitting down when the Fool arrived at the door and let himself in.

"Damn it's cold out there. Oh hey Hiei. Got too cold for you too?" Hiei nodded his head and waited for Kuwabara to sit so they could start eating.

~~~~At Kurama's House~~~~

'I wonder if it's too cold out there? If it was Hiei would have been here by now...I wonder where he is...' Kurama sat at his kitchen table with a cup of coffee in his hand thinking about the fire youkai and where he was at the moment. The TV in the other room had the morning news on, Kurama dismissed his thoughts and went to watch the news before he had to go out later.

He joined his German Shepard, Rose, in sitting on the couch to watch the TV. He looked around for the remote and found it sitting on the coffee table in front of him. He flipped through the channels and the SciFi channel caught his attention with The Blair Witch Project. It kept him entertained for a moment or two.

~~~~Back With The Other Three~~~~

Kuwabara and Hiei were sitting in the den, while Yuusuke was cleaning up the dishes from their breakfast. They had managed to find The Blair Witch Project on the SciFi channel and watched that. They figured since it was Halloween, it was fit to watch.

After drying the dishes and putting them away, Yuusuke sat on the couch next to Hiei and watched TV with them. All of a sudden Yuusuke's cat, Spike, randomly jumped into Hiei's lap and stared at him. Hiei didn't know what to do with the furry thing on top of him. Yuusuke did his noble deed for the day and rid Hiei of his cat by throwing Spike down onto the floor and the boys watched the cat scurry away under the stair case.

Saving the gang from an unnerving silence, the door bell rang. No one moved, and therefore, Yuusuke was the one to move…

The only other people that could be at the door, was either Koenma, or Kurama. But it was neither. It was Botan telling them they had a mission to do. Koenma would be expecting them in his office in an hour.

~~~An Hour Later~~~~

The teen demigod was sitting behind his desk as usual and was waiting for them to arrive. He was stamping papers and didn’t look as if he were in much of a good mood. The Rekai Tantei approached the godling’s desk as waited for him to take notice.

Instead all he did was speak to them as he stamped his papers. “You guys will be in the Makai for the next few weeks working on an assignment that my father has issued to you.” The Tantei looked confused but listened to him further, “ You all will have to find and look after the princess of the castle in the northern Makai area. Hiei, this may be a touchy mission for you since that’s the region where the Koorime Island is above.”

All Hiei did was scowl at Koenma for the place where they would be sent, and quickly got over it as he explained why they were doing what they were doing. “You will be looking after her until further notice. Her parents have kind of put her out on the spot light and demons are raping her left and right.”

“No more explanation is needed Koenma…leave it to us.” Kurama was the first to speak up of all the people in the room. His voice sounded urgent, but gentle as it always did.

Hiei looked at Kurama for a minute or two, ‘ He’s so caring…he’ll be a great partner.’ Hiei left his thoughts at that, and they were off to the Makai.

~~~~In The Makai Later That Day~~~~

The gang was looking for a way around the forest without really going through it. The sun was beginning to set, and Kurama, as well as Hiei, knew it not to be safe in the Forest at night.

I was decided that they would stay on the outskirts of the forest tonight, and venture into it at dawn the next morning.

Kurama, Kuwabara, and Yuusuke were all sitting around the fire that night. Hiei was kind enough to at least provide a service to lighting the fire. He was, on look out, as he wanted to call it. Yuusuke noticed the fire youkai's abbsance from the group, and all he could do was look up and hope that a nearby tree housed the demon.

After about a minute of looking through the dark trees, Yuusuke finally found Hiei sitting on a branch near the top of a pine tree.

"Hey man, what'cha doin up there? Come on down! I need to remind you of something." Yuusuke gave an evil grin to the fire demon, but jumped down and listen to what the half ningen had to say.

" What do you want now?" Again, the youkai's voice held no emotion, as if to say, ' you're wasting my time, get on with it.'

" Yeesh...I'll be quick about it then. Remember what I told you last night about what to do tonight? If that made any sense let me know."

" It made no sense...but continue."

"Well...it may not be in the Ningenkai, but take Kurama some place where you guys can talk. It is Halloween night, it'd be really special to him. Especially if he's the half ningen I know he is, he'll be looking for love in any relationship."

The fire demon's stone cold baracade came down around him and he smiled to himself. Yuusuke couldn't help but smile too.

Hiei nodded his head, he put his emotionless mask back on and walked over to the fire, and stole Kurama. He did it perfectly, like he needed to talk to him about something to do with the mission.

Yuusuke watched them as they walked slightly into the forest and stood behind a tree. He went back to the fire to walk in on a conversation between Kuwabara and himself...he hadn't realized Hiei had taken Kurama. He was slightly puzzled when he finished his sentance, to find Yuusuke there, instead of the fox.

~~~~With Hiei And Kurama Behind The Tree~~~~

"What's wrong Hiei? You seem uncomfortable about something. Is there something that's worrying you?"

Hiei let his stone cold mask fade in front of the fox. he looked at the fox as if to hope his expression would say everything.

"I must say I've never seen you like this. You want to tell me what's wrong?"

Hiei shook his head, but he just ran into Kurama's arms. He encirciled his arms around Kurama in a hug.

The youko was slightly shocked at first, but calmed down as he figured out what had been bugging Hiei so much lately. He pieced everything together, the late night visits, staring into his window at him, finally lowering his defenses around him. Hiei had been flirting with him this whole time.

"You've been talking to Yuusuke about this haven't you?" Kurama smiled down at him. Hiei didn't meet his eyes exactly, but he nodded his head. Kurama chuckled, and held Hiei in his arms. "I never would have thought Hiei. But everything you did leading up to now made me realize it." Kurama smiled down at him again.

Hiei finally got the courage to look into the fox's eyes, he smiled back at Kurama, not really worthy of being called a smile, but it was close enough. Kurama figured Hiei would start smiling a lot more from now on
