Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Insanity's Requiem ❯ Rage's Nightmare ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
It was raining outside. A furious raging storm that shouted out towards the heavens, -better yet Rekai- about his hatred and sorrow. The skies were crying out in bitter hatred, pelting their water droplet tears against the small storm window with loud plops that left Hiei staring up at the window from the cot he was resting upon.
It was one of those many nights that Hiei Jaganshi did not sleep: No, he was waiting for something; something that he knew was going to happen. It always happened on nights like these and it was best to be thoroughly prepared.
He stared off at the window, partially wishing that it wasn't so small and high up against the ceiling so that he could sit amongst its edge and glance outside the raging storm, but that was not to be. It didn't have a single ledge to so much tie your fingers around into a stone grip. None at all, so he was forced to lie upon the uncomfy mattress, paying no attention to the surrounding area while lying back with arms crossed behind his neck for support. Being unamused by the weather outside, he stared at the ceiling.
"How long will it take this time?" He asked himself quietly within his mind, crimson, red eyes casting a sidelong glance towards the other cot just beside him. Seeing the lump upon it sleeping peacefully he shrugged and returned to staring upwards.
It was so stupid he decided right then and there. (That also being his one millionth time deciding upon such a thought.) Him having to be here locked up when he was perfectly fine. He'd blame Koenma for it, the damned baby had to care so much for this patient to send him off and try to save said patient from their own sanity. Pah! The person was insane, how'd the son of Enma so much as a EXPECT him to know how to fix that? Let alone care to try?
Yes, he was there at a mental ward, fulfilling a mission set to him in order to gain his freedom ticket back to the Makai. It was a frustrating ordeal, what should have been something quick and easy to do have actually ended up in lasting about a year. He knew nothing of how minds worked, why should he have to try and break through a Rekai spies insanity in order to help them escape this place? He again blamed Koenma; for ever sending a spy to the place in the first place (Said they were researching a black market dealing going on.). If such a GRAND spy hadn't been sent to live around mental humans for so long they probably wouldn't have snapped them self.
Sometimes he got the feeling that maybe Koenma wanted him to snap as well. Of course, that would be along time waiting and once he got out of here he'd make sure to make the idiots death quick and painless for ever trying such a thing.
The slight object of his musings groaned slightly and rolled within the bed they slept on gaining his slight attention. The thing he had been waiting for had slightly begun. Making a small cry out of pain, their hands stretched outward as if trying to run towards something or stop an incoming attack. A hiss and a yelp emitted from them as they jerked and slammed their fists against the pillow in their sleep, kicking the blankets off to reveal the full frame of a young woman. His eye twitched, why they allowed co-ed rooms was beyond him, but this demon's human form seemed to always show the slight things upon her body that teased about how she really looked. With small nightgown given by the nurses riding up her thighs, she twisted more, frail, thin face scrunching up as if she were crying. No tears came upon her clenched eyes however and she arched her back, tossing once again to a different sleeping position.
She always had nightmares like this at night. A flash of lightning through the window also vaguely reminded him on how bad it got during thunderstorms. He just slightly hoped the storm wouldn't get too out of hand or he'd have to act insane again just to chase the worried nurses out.
His stomach lurched in disgust at the thought. Having to act as frail and weak as the rest of them was a major blow to the pride. It made him hate being forced into this even more. And also made him wonder why he even BOTHERED to consent to help the girl. She clearly was pitiful and weak if a small spy mission sent her brain reeling off like this and was probably better off dead.
Of course, killing her might have brought some bit of pleasure to him from his annoyances, that wouldn't bring him off probation. Damn.... He really hated how things had turned out.
He clenched his fists at the thoughts before lightning flashed much louder outside, causing the earth to tremble and walls to shake. He shook his head; looked like a fun night was about to start. It flashed out again, illuminating the padded walls as things shook upon the shelves from the sheer power of the weather. Truly a beautiful thing to watch.... but not for the mental female demon tossing about the bed.
".....P..pa..Papa! Moma!" She cried out, lurching once more along with the lightning as he witnessed her dreams shifting to another. He never did understand why she called out to her parents in such a state. He had read her files before he was even sent to tend to her and according to them they had been dead ever since she was five. Being the age she was -139- there was no reason to be calling out to them within your sleep when you already know there's no one coming for you.
He watched in brief, slight fascination as her dream shifted to something far more sinister, causing a look of pure fear, hatred and pain to flash across her features. Tossing and gasping out as if one were touching her in her most private parts he briefly wondered if such dreams might have been the key to locking her sanity back into place, but since he didn't really care and wasn't apt to think about it, he never went any further along on the theory and just watched.
Lightning flashed louder, illuminating her pale face as a cold sweat glistened atop her forehead. He was slightly relieved, normally by now she was causing major trouble that made the idiots place surveillance camera's all around the room. Maybe this time she wouldn't wake up... Deciding this he slithered farther down his cot, letting the scratchy blanket slide off the side as he did so, thinking maybe he could catch a slight bit of rest.
She made a sound that sounded like a held in scream and tossed her head to and fro. "Leave me... go AWAY! N-no...please..." Her voice was wracked with begging tears from a memory that placed flashed of images into his brain of maniacal laughter, lightning and sheer pain of torture and rape. Shaking his head to clear it he glanced over at her out of the corner of his eye and sighed.
She was a hopeless case; He hoped Koenma would find this out soon and let him get out. It was annoying being stuck to only a few rooms, having to share a bathroom and sharing a bedroom with a loony demon in human form. Not to mention the food was terrible.
It was just his luck that at the time he was slowly drifting off into unconsciousness, that the storm decided to make itself even more known with a terrible booming clash of lightning that shook the entire area. Simultaneously the girl shot up, panting and holding a scream within, eyes dilated with fear with her heart pounding. Oh he could hear that heart pounding a mile a minute...And he knew that the real problem was just about to start. Thrashing wildly, she glanced around; sitting back on her haunches much kike a fox would do, staring around looking for anything that might calm her. Her eyes set on his bed, he knew they did, those cold grey eyes always found his bed and nothing good ever came out of it.
She suddenly lunged and growled at the same time, slamming into his bed posts and jolting him off the side with a painful 'plop!' to the linoleum floor. Kissing the floor, he made a mental note to kill her once she regained her sanity just for the cheer pleasure he'd get out of it. She was such an annoyance. Hearing her growls he noticed her feet upon the floor on the other side of his cot as she moved towards the foot of the bed in a slow manner. Immediately he stood up to get his bearings straight, only to see that she had bent down.
Not this again....
He walked to the foot of his bed and glanced down, not even surprised in the slightest to see her down on all floors, glancing up at him with a predatorial look within her gaze that could make even Sesshoumaru from that anime show Inuyasha shiver in fear before hissing up at him. He found himself slightly growling back, as if trying to soothe her. He always did this when things got this way. Why? Like he cared or knew, demon instincts just had a way with doing things that he wasn't willing to think about. She continued her growl, moving like a cat across the floor, closer and closer to him as if she were hunting and her prey had been cornered.
He caught the demonic flash of red in her eyes before he felt himself pinned tot he wall with speeds only he knew himself and -now her- to posses. With quick footwork she had stood, grabbed her hands against his broad shoulders and slammed him against the nearest wall she could. This wasn't new to him either, nor was the dazed confused happy look that flashed against her red lips and grey swirling eyes.
Her finger, with an abnormally sharp nail came out, slender and firm and begun tracing along his jawline as she began to humm a tune to herself. Nail prickling his skin until she moved the digit across his jugular, up and down... up and down... up and down.
Normally he half expected her to try and slit his throat right at that point: she was crazy enough in his mind.
"...Jaganshi..." She purred out, pressing against him as she glanced into his eyes. He stood straight as a nail and looked at her emotionless, straight back so that sparks elicited from his red ruby orbs and into her grey, dull human eyes that hid the true demon within her. "The storm calls out to me... It says torture for me has begun... why do you torture me, Hiei?" She purred this out the entire time she spoke, while pressing every crevice of her frail body against his as her nail slowly lingered across his collar bone before flowing against his shoulder.
Like usual. He had nothing to say. What COULD you say to a statement like that anyways?
"Why don't you ANSWER me?" She hissed angrily, nails suddenly pricking into his skin, digging further and further until he could feel blood slightly oozing out onto his black shirt. "You NEVER answer, why! You cock sucker, are you too good for me to answer? Do you think your better?"
His eye twitched in annoyance, but other then that he kept still and quiet. This phase would pass and she'd soon start acting slightly normal, the phase would pass and she'd act slightly normal... He chanted over and over in his head, knowing that if he didn't he'd probably fail the mission by strangling her.
"ANSWER ME!!" She shrieked, shaking him against the wall as nails dug even deeper into his skin. He could feel the small trickles of blood dangling down his arm now as a brief flash went through him causing him to growl.
"....no..." He replied could, hands raising and pushing her off of him.
She seemed to have a mood swing as he done this, stumbling to keep her balance from the force of his push. Bottom lip slightly pouting she moved a strand of silky brown hair out of her face. "Why not?" She asked quietly, almost dejectedly. "Why... can't you see? Can't you tell? ...Why?"
He almost had the urge to ask what she was talking about now, but the thought was all too gone from his head when she hissed suddenly, flinging herself against him once more only to twist and turn until he found himself grounded to the floor with her straddling him. Hands were around his throat and her teeth were bare.
"Why can't you UNDERSTAND?! “She yelled! Shaking him as his head slammed against the linoleum. He hated letting her do this, oh how he hated and wanted to just give her a taste of her own medicine. Damn his honor on attacking handicap... He briefly caught the sounds of footsteps heading down the hall and smirked slightly in his mind. The nurses must have heard her screaming.
His silence seemed to be killing her, hissing her nails flared out like that of a death harpie and smacked against his left cheek, feeling the sharp nail tear into his skin before leaving contact. His flesh stung and he felt, just like on his arms, the trickles of blood flowing down to his chin.
Again he wondered how he was expected to 'fix' her of this. Not responding to her again she seemed to calm down briefly, shifting herself so that her firm thigh straddled his waist as she whimpered softly.
"... you made me hurt you again..." She muttered softly before leaning foreword and licking the blood off of his cheek. First time such a thing had happened he had frozen up and tried to get away as fast as possible -making her mood swings even worse- but by now he was used to it. It was almost like she was a little fox cub with a fox family wanting to protect him even as she hurt him. Which was an oddly amusing concept, but he continued thinking of it so as to keep his mind off the slick tongue running warmly across the blood on his face.
He was looking foreword to the showers tomorrow morning indeed. They were both snapped out of whatever kind of moment they were in, -since it wasn't much of one considering one was mental- as the door slammed open letting in about ten nurses. Five grabbed the girl by her shoulders, dragging her off of Hiei while the other five tended to his cuts like he was some sort of child while talking to him.
He vaguely heard her screams of anger of wanting them to let her go as a few nurses shrieked at her violent behavior. One of the more shy and quiet of them that was tending to his cheek grinned sweetly to him however and he decided it was time to pull on the 'dumb insane' act once more. Keeping his face blank he looked up at her confusedly.
".... she shouldn't hurt me like that." He stated simply, making his voice a bit higher pitched so as to sound more like a confused little child instead of what he really was. The girl nodded her head while patching his cheek up.
"Well, Hiei, you shouldn't taunt her so, she's got a bad case and you know..." She soothed lightly patting his cheek before the others helped him up. He really didn't need the help, but if he was going to make them NOT sedate him he was going to have to act obedient like a dog. (Which made him feel even angrier inside since he hated acting as such.)
"But... she hurt me.. she deserves to be hurt to..." He said before having his voice go deeper to make him seem that much more out of it. "She deserves to be really really hurt." He smirked mentally as the woman gave him a look as her hand went into her pocket to ensure her syringe was ready just in case he went nuts. Of course that was never going to happen, he rarely did unless it was to make sure they weren't about to send him out for good behavior.
"No she doesn't, that's a bad thing to think Hiei, shame on you." She chided gently. He nodded his head only then noticing they had managed to tuck him in like he was a little baby and moved off to help the other five from the attacks of the girl who was hell bent on not getting put back to bed. He folded his hands gently and kept the innocent act up, knowing that he had to keep under cover for it all.
“LET ME GO YOU FUCKING BITCHES! I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!!" He watched as the girl fought hard against them, thrashing about wildly but seemed to week from her years of staying there to do much. It was really a pathetic scene. It was also routine, they fought, she thrashed, they pinned, she thrashed, they strapped her down to the bed, she still thrashed, they pulled out a syringe, she cussed them out worse then a sailor, they jabbed the needle into her neck, she called the jabber a cunt sucker, they left, and she thrashed for two whole minutes before finally calming down slightly.
It irked him how well he knew that routine by now.
After watching the scene that he was so used to seeing, the nurses left, shutting the lights off once more. He stayed in place for the few minutes it took for the girl to calm down, her heavy breathing being the only thing heard echoing off the walls as she tried slightly to get her hands loose from the straps. It of course never worked and he heard the slight grunt she made in return at it as if commenting about her stupidity. This was the times he could actually stand her. When she was acting sane for once.
Slipping out of the bed slowly he walked over towards her cot and glanced down at her. Eyes were fluttering shut and she was grimacing at herself as hints of red speckled her irises. He recalled Koenma telling him that the closer she got to transforming back to her usual form meant the closer she got to regaining her sanity, but it never looked as if there was much of a difference when her mentality was checked.
"....I hate this..." She muttered, glancing up at him. "Being strapped down makes me feel helpless." She looked up at him with a plain look and he shrugged cold as ever.
"If you stopped attacking me in the night maybe you wouldn't GET strapped, idiot." He replied. She looked away and seemed as if her entire body drooped.
"You know I can't help it..." She replied eyes blank and voice cold as ever. "I never can no matter how much I want to Hiei..." She stopped talking when she felt a loosening of the straps and glanced upwards to see him taking them off her wrists and ankles. "What are you doing?" She asked raising an eyebrow at him.
"Hn... no one deserves being held immobile.” He replied not even looking at her. Once the straps were off she snuggled up into herself, pulling the blankets off, close to falling into sleep already. He shrugged and headed back off to his bed. Once lying down, he reached for the itchy covers that annoyed him so much before he caught his 'patient' speaking to him.
"...g'night... Hiei..." She mumbled... drifting off into dreamland. He mumbled in return for the sheer fact of being slightly nice for the hell of it.
"Hn... night Cahadras," He then rolled over, blocked everything out, and fell asleep.
